San Diego Scenery Package for X-Plane v6.51+v7.XX by Bill Moore January 3, 2004 Here is a new San Diego scenery package that I designed for my personal use. I have had numerous requests to do more cities and airports so this is my first free scenery for 2004. Being the lazy person I am, no research was done and no claim to real life designs are implied. I have added many objects to the airports and cities including terminals, hangers, buildings, stadiums, balloons, city scapes and other fun and interesting things. All of which were begged, borrowed or stolen from all the wonderful designers in the X-Plane Community such as Ken Spiker, Christian Franz, Ted Davis, Robert Bunce, Tom Curtis, B. Brooks and all the others who have inspired me. Many thanks to each of you for your contributions to the X-Plane community. Like all my scenery packages, the additions to the citys and airports are purely fictional. The airports themselves are unaltered. I have enhanced "San Diego Intl.-Lindburg Fld. (KSAN), "North Island NAS. (KNZY), Miramar MCAS (KNKX), Imperial Beach NOLF (KNRS), General Abelardo L. Rodriquez Intl. (MMTJ) and a few other near by airports. A special thanks to Ted Davis for creating the orignal San Diego scenery that led me to adding to his great work. Also, Ken Spikers new KWIKCITYS package contributed to the completion of my version of San Diego and surrounding areas. His cities really added the crowning touch. Thanks Ken. If I inadvertently left out other object designers, it was purely unintentional and I offer my apologies. Installation: Place the extracted "San Diego" folders in your "Custom Scenery" folder. Spitfire Aerodrome Airport (7N7), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 02 miles S of Pedricktown, New Jersey on 48 acres of land, Spitfire Aerodrome Airport is a public asphalt single-strip field that allows transient craft to tie down on the apron. There are also helicopters based here on this field (note there is no Jet-A fuel available) so the helicopter start location will place you on the ramp.

Although this airport has a beacon, FSX for some reason does not include one with the stock airport file and I can't yet create rotating beacons so it is there and lit at night but does not rotate and is not as visible as the rotating ones. This will be addressed in a later update. Also take note of the layout of this airport, it requires that AI traffic cross the runway in order to taxi to either end for take off. AI aircraft DO NOT hold short when taxiing across runways (this is an FSX limitation), so use extreme caution on approach and departure to avoid any unfortunate runway incursions. Aircraft can fuel up by parking near the fuel truck beside the hangar south of the runway. If you have trouble locating the windsock, look on top of the hangar roof north of the runway. The crashed aircraft in the pond is fictional, there is a distinctive airplane-shaped object there in the satellite textures but I could not determine what this might be from aerial photos so I just crashed a plane there for kicks :)

Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 004. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

RAF Polebrook Download

File Description:
On June 28, 1942, RAF Polebrook was officially turned over to the USAAF and the airbase became the base of the 97th Bombardment Group, the first USAAF heavy bomber organization to arrive in the UK. It was designated USAAF Station 110. The 97th BG was assigned to the 1st Combat Wing, at RAF Bassingbourn. It's operational squadrons were divided between Polebrook and RAF Grafton Underwood: 340th Bomb Squadron (RAF Polebrook) 341st Bomb Squadron (RAF Polebrook) The 97th BG conducted a total of 14 missions from Polebrook, attacking airfields, marshalling yards, industries, naval installations, and other targets in France and the Low Countries. The group sortied 247 aircraft, dropped 395 tons of bombs on Nazi-controlled territory, and lost 14 aircraft. On October 21, 1942, the 97th Bomb Group was transferred to the Twelfth Air Force in the Mediterranean theater and Polebrook was unoccupied until April 1943. 351st Bombardment Group (Heavy) On April 15, 1943, the 351st Bomb Group arrived at RAF Polebrook. It was assigned to the 94th Combat Wing, also at Polebrook. The group tail code was a "Triangle J". It's operational squadrons were: 508th Bomb Squadron (YB) 509th Bomb Squadron (RQ) 510th Bomb Squadron (TU) 511th Bomb Squadron (DS) Boeing B-17G-85-BO Flying Fortress, Serial 43-38465 of the 510th Bomb Squadron. This aircraft survived the war and returned to USA on 8 June 1945 Douglas-Long Beach B-17G-30-DL Flying Fortress Serial 43-38116 of the 509th Bomb Squadron.The 351st's first completed combat mission took place on May 14, 1943, when 18 B-17's targeted a German Luftwaffe airfield at Kortrijk, Belgium. As the war progressed, the 351st operated primarily against strategic objectives in Germany, striking such targets as ball-bearing plants at Schweinfurt, communications at Mayen, marshalling yards at Koblenz, a locomotive and tank factory at Hannover, industries at Berlin, bridges at Cologne, an armaments factory at Mannheim, and oil refineries at Hamburg.This is for FSX and you will need to have Ted Andrews's RAF Hangars Library and his other great RAF Buildings. They can be found on AVSIM. Search the FSX section for "Ted Andrews" - you'll find loads of his scenery object files for RAF airfields. Follow his instructions on how to install them.

St. Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha Islands Download

This project was begun to add the new airport (FHSH) to St. Helena Island and eventually was expanded to include a complete remake of Ascension Island (FHAW) and Tristan da Cunha (with an optional airport FHTC) and Gough Island with the actual weather station heliport (FHGH). Tested in both the default FSX/Acceleration and with FTX Global/Vector, accurate coastlines, lakes, road data, and SRTMGL1 (30m) mesh, as well as corrected landclass are provided based on the latest available satellite imagery. Flight plans are provided for the proposed commercial service to St. Helena, and some additional GA and military flights to the island are added as well. The FSX St. Helena (FHSH) airport was created by aligning master plans for the airport with current satellite data and by studying many of the pictures that have been posted as the airport has taken shape. The official opening of the real airport on May 21, 2016, has been pushed back for more field tests due to challenging crosswinds. The Ascension Island (FHAW) airport was updated after I realized that Ascension could receive commercial service as a result of the new St. Helena airport. The entire airfield is redesigned to allow the volcanic terrain to display properly. The airbase, towns, BBC Atlantic relay station, and numerous satellite dishes, radomes, and wind turbines now appear in their real-world locations. Since I was already in the region, I added the Tristan da Cunha Islands (including Inaccessible, Nightingale and Gough Islands) and the Gough Island weather station maintained by the South African National Antarctic Programme. I also added an optional airport (and flight plans) to Tristan da Cunha (FHTC), which can be easily enabled/disabled. The FHTC airport is placed on the only part of the island that appears to be free of people or farmland, and the area is just long enough to accommodate a pared-down version of the St. Helena airport. Updates were created or rebuilt in a manner which carefully aligns airport data with current satellite imagery. Scenery was created using Airport Design Editor X v1.67.5684, SBuilderX 3.13, and the FSX Object Placement Tool. Scenery objects were added and modified from stock FSX scenery to resemble as closely as possible the actual airports. The animated flag model is by Dietmar Loleit, the FSX apron lights included are from the set created by Jim Dhaenens, and the animated wind turbines and radomes are from the freeware package by Ray Porter.

Airport: Allgäu (DE) EDJA V1 Release: January 2018 Simulation: P3D v4.1 This scenery is an update of the stock Airport (ICAO code: EDJA). "Memmingen Airport (IATA: FMM, ICAO: EDJA), also known as Allgäu-Airport Memmingen, is an international airport in the town of Memmingerberg near Memmingen, in the Swabia region of Germany. It is the smallest of the three commercial airports in Bavaria after Munich Airport and Nuremberg Airport and has the highest altitude of any commercial airport in Germany. It is operated by Allgäu Airport GmbH & Co. KG, a limited partnership of 71 mostly local, medium-sized companies with only minor public shares. Located about 3.8 km (2.4 mi) from the centre of Memmingen and 110 km (68 mi) from the city centre of Munich, it serves Memmingen and the Allgäu area and also provides a low-cost alternative to Munich Airport and therefore is sometimes referred to as Memmingen/Munich-West Airport or similar by some low-cost airlines, despite the fact that it is 110 kilometres from the centre of Munich. The entire airport has been updated with correct RWY, Taxiways, APRON's, COMM's (ATIS, GND, TWR), markings and some objects. RWY 24 got it's ILS and go arround information acc. to the charts. The main Terminal is a custom building with custom day and night textures. Also all ground textures are custom made. Other objects INCLUDING the tower are from stock ADE! In time I will add more custom buildings to further releases of this airport. Currently I have already started to work on the Tower building. Ground textures will not receive shadows unless you turn "Buildings" receieve shadows to ON! General: I'm not a proffessional scenery builder or texture artist but I did try to do my best to update the stock Airport and offer it as freeware to the simming community. I have tested the scenery and did not find any issues with it. GSX services work, AI traffic with Ultimate Traffic Live works, COMM's work, APPR on ILS24 does work, and so on. Entire work and object placing has been done using a photo overlay image from Google Earth, yet don't expect a photoreal scenery. The used background image has been removed due to Google's copyright policy. Big thanks to the guys from FS Developer (Don, Arno) who I have kept busy during the birth of the scenery and those who offered the tools to build it (ADE, MCX, Sketchup, Gimp,...).

Cyprus: Airfields plus landmarks and land class for all of Cyprus and AI Download

Cyprus, an island in the eastern Mediterranean. Without the benefit of Ultimate Terrain, which does not exist for Cyprus, the land class provided by FS9 stands out as hopelessly inadequate. I have added the extensive farmland and the larger towns and villages, plus the major roads. Four completely new airfields are included here, three in the north and one in the south. Ercan LCEN is in the north and functions as the airport for all of the north. It was recently closed for two years while a new terminal was built and the runway updated and an apron extended etc, and during that time Gecitkale LCGK functioned (barely) as the airport for the north. Gecitkale is now hardly used at all. The third northern airfield is Ilker Karter LCIK and this functions as the HQ base of the Turkish Army Corp in northern Cyprus. The last of the new airfields is Kingsfield LCRE, which is in the Sovereign Base area to the east of Larnaca and is now used for recreational purposes. Ercan is now undergoing further expansion with a new runway and a new terminal building and apron, so this scenery is for the period between 2010 to 2015. My set up of Cyprus already included a payware Larnaca by Aerosoft (now only 12 euros) plus a freeware Paphos, Nicosia, and Akrotiri; that was my starting point. Larnaca has been the major airport for Cyprus since the mid 1970's, with a huge tourist trade that peaks in the summer but which is year long (almost a million Brits visit every year, let alone the other nationalities). I have adapted this (gate sizes etc) to allow parking by a multitude of B737's and others. Nicosia is freeware (posted in 2010) and I have included modifications to reflect its now total disuse. Paphos is at the far western end of the island and freeware, and I have modified this to allow larger and military ai aircraft to function properly; the poster improved his first version to better cater for ai but I was unaware of this and I have stayed with my modifications. Akrotiri is freeware and includes a lot of library object input from MAIW. I have modified the parking somewhat and added further residential areas and munitions storage. The AI is based upon recorded take offs and landings in April, with some further additions in later months. At Ercan the visible gate numbers on the apron are as per real life, but the numbers within FS9 reflect the fact that planes are directed to gates at the centre of the terminal building and not at the far ends. Follow the pink line and obey ATC when it says taxi to gate number 2 even if it is visibly numbered 4.

Carnes Farm Download

Welcome to Knox County Kentucky!

These are the files that I talked about in the Prepar3d forums. I created these objects for Fs9, then upgraded them to the scenery SDK for FSX. They were created 10 years ago in GMAX, and I have used them successfully ever since in Prepared 1.4 as well.

For some reason the individual farmhouse and other objects that I created are not showing up in Prepar3d version 2.0.

That's where you guys come in! These files are free to use in anyway you want as long as proper attribution is given, but, I would like you guys who have both Prepar3d 1.4 and 2.0 to try them out in both and report back to me as to whether you have the same problems that I do. That's your only fee. And I'd like you guys to give it a shot in both, or all four( I am not sure that they will work in FS9 anymore, but try it out. Unfortunately I can't recompile my FSX SDK Files back to FS9 if it doesn't work).

What's included:

1. Photo real scenery of Barbourville, 10 miles to the north west of stinking Creek where we live, and;

2. Photo real scenery of the farm area and stinking Creek, upon which I have placed my GMAX objects;

B. The barn, shed and the RV in back of the farmhouse.

C. A two-story long structure the top of which is an apartment but the bottom of which is a re-creation of Mama Carne's store, along with all the real wood floors shelves and original contents.. It is also o n Google earth in 3-D as it is here with further description .

... A little note on Gmax.. Mama Carne's store was one the first structures that I built in Gmax. It was just a box. Later, I added the true architectural features that you see including the steps and rails which took about as long to create as it would have to Saw and fit and hammer the real rails, risers and steps.

D. K-6, my little 2300 foot strip for runways 03 and 21. It has VOR - (117.55), ILS(110.1), and NDB(222).

E. Gerald Bingham's house, 1/4 mile up Warriors Path North from us.( mostly dirt road with gravel topping).

F. Dewitt Baptist Church.

Off property Knox county

G.Escoe's Store and Post Office complete with great prices for gas at the included pumps.

H. Rex allen's killer corner...sheds and farm equipment on the sharpest bend on Stinking Creek...my son went off it with a flat tire, unscathed, but more than several have lost their lives on that curve... there may be several iterations of the sheds...just delete or rename the wrong ones...I was experimenting with ModelConverterX, Arno Gerretsen's wonderful model and object scenery tool.

I. sitting on top of the Barbourville Photo real scenery Barbourville PhotoReal over the shopping center.jpg is the Barbourville P3D Shopping Center2.jpg shopping center all the stores and all the storefronts ... it's on 25 E. as you head into Barbourville.

Recreated, is the entire shopping center with the now outmoded Wal-Mart sign. Probably my magnum opus.

note on the Gmax scenes.

All of the scenery was either directly measured and if not practical for a such a long measuring device, walked off, as in the Stinking Creek Bridge and shopping center. All of the objects were then photographed, in 360° where possible and saved as texture for inclusion in the Gmax model.
