| ZGGG Guangzhou Baiyun Int'l Airport 2017 |
|
File Description:
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (ZGGG) is the major airport of Guangzhou, China. Located in Guangzhou's Baiyun District, it opened on August 5, 2004, but has gone through major changes since FSX was created. The default version only has one terminal and two runways and is slightly out of place from the actual location. I placed the airport in its real location based upon the charted latitude and longitude of the airport reference point. Guangzhou Baiyun Int'l Airport now has three runways. The third runway opened in February 2015. The centerpiece is the new Terminal 2, faithfully rendered here as much as possible. The terminal footprint and gates are accurate. The 3D terminal itself is a simple Sketchup project with generic textures (including night textures). The scenery converted and placed using MCX's amazing Convert and Place Wizard. I added the FBO ramp and the FEDEX Cargo Ramp Aprons and added some hangars to both locations, all default FSX buildings, so no additional library downloads are required. The new runway (now called 02R/20L) was added with Airport Design Editor. The old runway 02R/20L was renamed to the current runway 02L/20R and the old runway 02L/20R was renamed to the current runway 01/19. All taxiways are accurately drawn and designated with taxisigns using the latest AIRAC 1712 Jeppesen chart for ZGGG. All six ILS approaches are rendered as well as ADE would let me.

| RFS New improved and realistic Afcads for TNCM,TFFJ, and SABA/TNCS |
|
File Description:
Make the three FlyTampas airports even more realistic. These Files are for Flight simulator enthusiasts, who prefer realism. These Afcads are optimized for AI Traffic. FlyTampas FlyMarten is very realistic yet, but these files even optimize this very good scenery addon.
These files are improved afcads for the three FlyTampa FlyMarten airports St. Marten (TNCM), St. Barthélemy (TFFJ) and Saba (SABA/TNCS). They are on the basis of the three original afcads from Flytampa, but there are a few differences between the old and the new version: 1. AI Traffic does not make the u-turns in the grass, but they make the u-turns on the provided u-turn areas at the ends of the runways 9 in TNCM, 10 in TFFJ and 12 und 30 SABA. 2. Landing and Takeoff on runway 27 in TNCM and Takeoff on runway 28 in TFFJ is forbidden; it is not possible to prohibit landing, but allow takeoff. So I compound, that all flight movements in TNCM will be performed on RWY 9. 3. At all of the three airports tower frequencies replace AFT, e. g. "Saba Traffic". 4. In SABA and TFFJ I removed few gates, because the pushbacking aircrafts taxied into each other when using the old file. Important: These Files are functional only if FlyTampa-Marten is installed on your computer. There are also the original files in the backup folder.

| Graskop Airfield, South Africa |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Graskop Airfield does not appear in the default FS2004, neither is the town included which is a pity as the airfield lies right on the edge of a gorge where bungee jumping and even a Gorge-lift (elevator) or a slide across the gorge can be enjoyed by the adrenaline junkies. Added to this, the airfield (and town of Graskop) is merely 10km from the world famous God's Window (also featured in the film, "The Gods must be Crazy").
This package will add a custom (Gmax & Sketchup) made Graskop Airfield, Mpumalanga, South Africa with photoreal textures and ground textures. The included Landclass file will also add the town.
The small airfield has been recreated with custom true to life models and photoreal textures. While being a very small airfield with only one hangar and a large antenna tower, the importance of the airfield far outweighs its size. The airfield plays a vital role in the fight against wildfires as there are water bombers based at the airfield during critical times. In real life the runway is quite challenging, being sloped quite significantly and very narrow, with a one-way-in one-way-out landing and takeoff procedure. Due to the limits within flightsim, the slope could not be replicated but all the other challenges are there.
The asphalt runway is aligned 15/33 and only 800m long by 8.5m wide and sits at an elevation of 4 854ft.

| Ulukhaktok (Holman) CYHI in the Northwest Territories, Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Ulukhaktok (Holman) is an airfield on the west side of Victoria Island, off the northern coast of Canada. It is 320 miles west of Cambridge Bay (and you should download and install the recent post of CYCB by Sid and Pete, as I use it for the AI included in this post) and around 400 miles east of Inuvik (my post of a few months ago). It has been officially called Ulukhaktok since 2006, and before that it's name was Holman.
The village of Ulukhaktok has been placed around the bay and is approximately the right shape; it houses some 460 people who used to rely solely on hunting and fishing. The village is close to 71 degrees north, and there are only four months of the year when the average high is above zero centigrade. The photograph with snow (and of course a frozen sea) is typical; for the frozen sea download my Frozen Rivers & Lakes post which will provide this. The buildings on the field have been modelled specifically for this scenery, and as in real life there is only JetA available. The AI visiting aircraft are an Aklak Air DC3 (based in Inuvik and operated by Kenn Borek Air) and a Canadian North Dash 8-100. Note that the runways are signed as "true" headings instead of magnetic; in the Canadian Northern Domestic Airspace all headings are given as true. Unfortunately FS9 doesn't accommodate this in ATC.

| Kugaaruk CYBB and DEW Pelly Bay CWPB in Nunavut, Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Kugaaruk is on the coast of northern mainland Canada on the Boothia Peninsula, 60 miles into a deep north-south fjord-like inlet called Pelly Bay. The name was changed from Pelly Bay in 1999, and the population is around 800. Gjoa Haven is 150 miles to the west, and Hall Beach just over 200 miles to the east. Six miles south of the village, and connected by a gravel road, there is a NWS station and what remains of a DEW Auxiliary Site; the DEW site was closed in 1992, a year after the NWS station became operational. There is also a 3,350 feet long gravel runway beside Barrow Lake 2 miles east of the site, Pelly Bay CWPB. Kugaaruk airfield is adjacent to the village and the 5,000 feet of 100 feet wide gravel runway is aligned 049T/229T where T stands for "true" as opposed to magnetic. There are flights by First Air and Canadian North and the AI includes a daily flight of each from Yellowknife via Gjoa Haven (as per real life) plus a cargo visit by Buffalo. Although the runway is long enough to accomodate a 737 it is not licensed for regular scheduled jet flights; the reason for this is that the approach lighting is "inadequate". Included here is a new .bgl for Gjoa Haven which will remove the small hold short line from the gravel; my mistake.

| Fairchild C-82A Packet (Project Phoenix) |
|
File Description:
First and foremost, this aircraft package is dedicated to the memory of the late Paul Mantz, a veteran stunt pilot who gave his life in the making of the 1965, 20th Century Fox movie, “Flight of the Phoenix” starring James Stewart and a strong cast of other well known actors.
This package contains not only the C-82 Packet, but, as a special feature, “The Phoenix” as well. For those of you who have not seen this classic, you are missing a real jewel. It can still be obtained in VHS or DVD at www.amazon.com I highly recommend it.
The C-82 comes in three paint schemes, U.S.A.F., Bush Flying Unlimited, and of course, Arabco Oil. The Phoenix is painted as it was in the movie. Both aircraft have excellent panels built by K. Mitchell and the C-82 possesses a very nice virtual cockpit on par with that found in the C-119; previously released. These are DXT-3 textures with no mip-maps to preserve image clarity. I chose this format in the attempt to maintain a minimal upload/download package size. I will be following up with individual texture replacement packages in 32-bit for those who wish them.
I hope you enjoy this flightsim model as much as I did putting this package together. I could not have done so without the excellent help and work of Daisuke Yamamoto, Herb Morse, K. Mitchell, Mike Hambly, and Brent Hricziscse.
Enjoy! Heather

| TU-95MS Bear H |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
The Russian Air Force 37th Air Army operates the TU-95MS (TU-95M 55 Bear H) from the 182th TBAP unit based in Zavitinsk and 6213 BKHUAT based at Engels Air Base in the Moscow Region. It's use is primarily in maritime operations. She carries cruise missiles even if only used for submarine comms. Her initial design is a competitor with the B-52, but uses 4 Turboprop engines with 8 contra-rotating props. She can fly about as far as, but not as high as the B-52, nor can she fly as fast. She is often monitored off the coast of Alaska and easily met with F-22 Raptors every time. She is also often met by NATO fighters near European borders. Since 45,000 feet is about the highest she can cruise, most fighters can meet her. Her real danger is the cruise missiles which, if launched, have a range more than 1,500 nm and can pinpoint any directed target using GPS ground control. She is normally flown in formations of 3 or more, but sometimes only 2 are observed. She is not designed to fly fast over low terrain, like the B-52, but can do-so if necessary, and dangerously. The aircraft has not seen any major improvements or modifications since the cold war era, and several have crashed due to lack of maintenance. It is currently unknown how many are in service condition. Since much is unknown about this aircraft, yet enough is known to re-create an authentically working model, I have done-so here. Every bit of the aircraft.cfg file and associated .air file has been re-worked to match what known data can offer, and known aerodynamic formulas can equate. The most difficult aspect is the Turboprop aspect, since Turboprop engines do not work like jet engines in any way. Luckily for the simmer, there is no need to adjust feathering or anything like that would be necessary in a normal Turboprop because these engines are self-adjusting. Even though they meet the full known specs of the real engines, I have actually worked all the math to make them actual Turboprop engines (not pseudo-jet engines). That may sound exciting, but you must remember that she is a prop-driven aircraft, and not a jet. Even though you can fly her like a jet, the engines do not adjust like a jet. All aspects have been configured to meet realistic standards, including the MOI factors, weight/balance (including payload positions), gear locations, aircraft dimensions, light positions, engine smoke locations and operations, and weight. I did not simply throw this together, but have been perfecting her for many years. Original Modeler/Sounds: Vladimir Zhyhulskiy (2006); Panel: Marco Spada; Auto Smoke Effects: Richard Wisman; Aero/Engine Dynamics, effects, and details: Douglas E. | PAIW Wales, Alaska, USA |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Googly scenery for Wales - a small domestic airport on the western coast of Alaska that is poorly provided for in Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files add taxiways, aprons, buildings and other airport features, so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner.
Wales is a small village with a population of just over 150 people, so the facilities at this 4000 foot gravel airstrip are fairly limited. The airport is allocated the ICAO code PAIW, although Microsoft has ignored this in Flight Simulator and uses the IATA ticket code IWK. Wales is served by light aircraft from airlines such as Bering Air, Cape Smythe Air, Frontier Flying Service, and Hageland Aviation Services. You might find it a convenient stopping-off point for a quick trip across to Russia - this is about as close as you can get and a nip across the Bering Strait will find you there in no time.
The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. Based on high-detail satellite imagery from Google Earth, the layout is proportionally correct but the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look like the real thing.
You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without.
