| Galena PAKP in Alaska |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Galena is a village on the Yukon River, around 30 miles east of the corner where the westward running river turns south. The population is just under 500 and the city is noted for its educational facilities that attract residential students from across the state. Adjacent to the city is the Galena Air Force Station that previously shared the use of the Edward G. Pitna Snr. airport until 2007, when the station was closed and the air force personnel left. The station facilities have been taken over by the community and the airport became the largest state-maintained airport in the interior of Alaska. Substantial resurfacing and finishing work was then carried out, and the new asphalt runway is now 6,000 feet long and aligned 7-25, with VASI at both ends and ILS on 25. There is a secondary gravel runway beside part of the main asphalt runway, and this is treated in radio announcements as if it is not a separate runway and landing or take off are on the adjacent asphalt. The airport is serviced by ERA (now called Ravn) and Wrights Air, with cargo flights by the eternal Everts. Included here is a small modification for Allakaket, which deletes a single remaining stock FS9 taxiway light. The AI included here also provided Allakaket with a Saturday Everts delivery flight, but I neglected to mention that before. A note here about my scenery making. There will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I either took or found for scenery purposes, plus I expect to move on from FS9 at some point during next year.

File Description:
Re-upload. FSX/FS2004 DDA Douglas DC-4-1009 ZS-NUR/PH-DDS. This aircraft originally flew with South African Airways from 1946 till 1966, and a short interlude from 1968 till 1970, as ZS-AUA 'Tafelberg'. From 1966 till 1995 the DC-4 flew as a transport and later an electronics warfare aircraft with the South African Air Force, called 'Spook'. Its registration was 6901. In 1995 the aircraft was sold to Aero Air (Pty) Ltd as ZS-NUR. In 1995 the Dutch Dakota Association (DDA) purchased the ZS-NUR, christened 'Skymaster'. The DC-4 arrived at Amsterdam-Schiphol on 5 May 1996. In 1997 she was re-registered PH-DDS. Due to the extremely tight regulations in the Netherlands, the DC-4 returned to South Africa in 2002 as ZS-AUA on long-term lease, first to Springbok Flying Safaris, later on to Rovos Air where she is still current (2008). These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's great Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (dc4_v21.zip). Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

| RAF Tarrant Rushton (1944) - Dorset, England |
|
File Description:
RAF Tarrant Rushton was a Royal Air Force station near the village of Tarrant Rushton east of Blandford Forum in Dorset, England from 1943 to 1947. It was used for glider operations during World War II and later revived for civilian operations. It is currently disused, though some buildings survive.
Horsa gliders from Tarrant Rushton left for France on the eve of D-Day, to begin Operation Tonga with an action that would later become known as Pegasus Bridge. Among the glider pilots was Jim Wallwork, on a Horsa nicknamed Lady Irene. The Tarrant Rushton gliders landed in occupied France shortly after midnight. Wallwork's aircraft was the first to touch down, but it landed heavily: the force of the impact catapulted both Wallwork and his co-pilot John Ainsworth through the front of the cockpit. Although stunned, this made them the first Allied troops to touch French soil on D-Day.
Other gliders were later flown from the airfield to Arnhem to take part in Operation Market Garden. During the closing stages of WWII, aircraft were used for SOE operations.

File Description:
This is a package of Tabuk Regional Airport/ King Faisal Air Base (OETB). An international and public airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Despite being an international airport, it only serves a few foreign destinations. There are plans to increase the number of international destinations to other neighboring countries. The airport has a single terminal building which uses air bridges for planes to disembark and load passengers. The airport was named after the late minister of Defence and crown prince Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. The military side of OETB is rather busy, being the home of basic and advanced fast jet training utilizing the BAE Hawk MK65 and now the MK165, there are around 50 sorties a day flown by 21 and 79 Squadron. The Royal Saudi Air Force Aerobatic Display Team is also based here (88 Squadron). The only fighter unit based at OETB is number 2 Squadron that operate the F-15C/D and is responsible for the protection of the North West part of the Kingdom, this was previously a responsibility shared with 29 Squadron that operated the Tornado ADV but they have since been withdrawn from service. Exercises often take place with visiting air force’s from across the Gulf and beyond. The air base is constantly evolving adding more shelters for aircraft.

| Air Links Canadair C-4 Argonaut |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Air Links started its operations in 1959 from Gatwick, initially with one and from 1961 with two more DC-3 aircraft. In 1962 these were replaced by a single Handley Page Hermes, which became the last still in airline service. In 1964 the Hermes was replaced by several ex-BOAC Argonauts, acquired from Flying Enterprise, the Royal Rhodesian Air Force and East African Airways. They were mainly used for charters around Europe, as well as special trooping flights for the Ministry of Defense to Gibraltar, Hanover and the Middle and Far East. Already in 1965, after the company had been renamed Transglobe Airways and Bristol Britannias has been purchased, the Argonauts were written from use and scrapped or used for fire drills. These are textures only; you will require Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Canadair Argonaut and North Star V3.0 (argo_v30x.zip). Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

Aerosoft F-16 "Viper" Performance Tune Up and Handling Upgrade
If you're a fan of the F-16, than this "Viper Upgrade" will make you SMILE with 9g's of JOY!
I have "modified/tuned-up" the AIR and CFG files so the jet is now "airshow precise". The slow-roll, the 8 Point Roll, 9g sustained turns, and MUCH, MUCH, MORE! Basically, everything an F-16 can REALLY do, your Aerosoft F-16 will now be able to do.
Pick your favorite F-16 YouTube airshow vid from ANY AIR FORCE in the WORLD and fly along! Or, if you prefer, zoom thru the Mach Loop or Star Wars Canyon at 500ft and 500kts with fly-by-wire PRECISION!
Plus, if you want to get silly, you can CRANK UP the "ELEVATOR EFFECTIVENESS" to 2.60 and try BOTH the Cobra and Backflip!! Many smiles await!
