Alaska North Slope 5 - Nuiqsut PAQT Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west, south, and now east of Barrow. There will be further additions. Nuiqsut is a mainly Inuit community on the west side of the Colville River, around 20 miles south of the coast, and with a slowly declining population of around 420 or so. The airfield is just south of the town and has a gravel runway 5,000 feet long and aligned 04-22 in FS9. The airfield is the only year-round contact route to the rest of the world, though there are plans for a permanent road. The AI includes daily passenger flights early and late in the day, cargo deliveries, and some GA. It seems that the only photos I had of the airport were either of the old building or were not of Nuiqsut at all. The only pic I have seen (recently, which is why I now have doubts) of the new building is insufficient to model it, so I am sticking with the old or maybe incorrect version.

China Airlines Boeing 747-400 PW 'Millennium Dragon' Download

File Description:
This is a repaint of AIA Boeing 747-400PW in the special "Millennium Dragon" livery of China Airlines. Well, to my knowledge this livery was supposed to be painted on a CAL 747-400 to celebrate the year 2000, the year of the Dragon and a special Dynasty package was prepared too including a 747-400 model aircraft repainted in this color scheme. I'm not sure if they used that special livery or not (for I could not find any pic of it), but fortunately a friend had its model aircraft and I used it as my repainting model. Oh yes, I know it's neither the millennium, nor the year of the Dragon but I did it for two reasons: first because I was born in the year of the Dragon (7/22/1976 8;) and second because I'm in a Chinese mood (nope, I'm a Persian girl!) wishing to do something related and repainting this could somehow satisfy me (can anybody please translate the Chinese words written next to the name of the airline in that red stamp like thing)!! I hope that you'll like this and use it in your AI traffic 8;D

Fairchild 24 (2/96) Swedish Air Force Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Lionheart Fairchild 24, in the colors of 2/96, a civilian Fairchild 24 that was impressed into the Swedish Air Force. At the outbreak of war, many civilian aircraft were mobilized. Most of them was larger aircraft, but lighter aircraft for liaison work were also used. The Naval Aviation Wing of F 2 at Hägernäs needed smaller aircraft for transport of personnel and liaison in their co-operation with the Navy. For this reason, one Fairchild 24-C8CS-De Luxe was mobilized between May of 1940 and February of 1943. Its earlier civil registration was SE-AIR (in the USA ex NC15926). It was powered with a Warner Super Scarab S50 air-cooled radial engine delivering 145 hk. The aircraft was designated Tp 6 and got the Air Force number 912. At the delivery of the Tp 6 in May of 1940 to the Air Force, it crashed. But it was repaired and in service again in October the same year. After its time in the Air Force, the Fairchild went back to the civil register, where it was written off in 1951 after another crash. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Lionheart Creations.

Flight Simulator First Officer (FSFO) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Flight Simulator First Officer is a generic virtual copilot that can be used with any aircraft. The primary function of FSFO is to assist the Pilot In Command (PIC) to fly the aircraft safely while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This is accomplished via virtual checklist and sharing of cockpit duties/responsibilities. Specifically, the First Officer reads the following configurable checklist: Before Start, After Start, Before Takeoff, In-Range, After Landing and Shutdown. After reading the checklist items, the Copilot will wait to ensure you (i.e. the pilot) have configured the aircraft correctly before proceeding to the next item. Also, the Virtual copilot is capable of performing the following actions: Call Vspeeds based on your input, Raise the Landing Gear on Takeoff, Retract the Flaps, Manage the taxi/landing lights, Land the Aircraft, Tune the ILS frequencies, Call Climb Power based on your input, Reset Vertical Speed when the Aircraft is within 1000 ft of the programmed altitude, IAS warning (e.g. Aircraft is above 250 IAS while below 10000 ft), GS Warnings (e.g. Aircraft is above 25 knots while taxing), Resets the altimeter to standards when passing TA, Engage Heading Hold on Takeoff, Engage Altitude Hold on Takeoff, Reset Speed on Takeoff, Engage Speed Hold on Takeoff, Engages Rev Thrust on Landing, Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) and much more... visit us at http://www.flightsimfirstofficer.com/

Sioux Lookout CYXL in northern Ontario, Canada, updated Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This greatly modifies my previous post of Sioux Lookout; it is stand-alone and does not require you to have the 2009 version. The AI provided with the post complements what was included with Dryden (March 2013). Sioux Lookout is in northern Ontario, 40 miles east of Dryden, and 145 miles northwest of Thunder Bay. The town is on the northeastern shore of a lake that I don't know the name of (I've been there, but has anyone COUNTED how many lakes Canada has?). It has a population of around 5,000. The main businesses are lumber, tourism, and health care. The airport is immediately adjacent to the northeastern corner of the town, and has 5,300' of asphalt which is aligned 16-34. There are two taxiways which curve and climb up to the apron which is 20 or 30 feet higher. When you taxi on them the knowledge that in reality you would be climbing makes sense of the curved routing. The apron is large and a mixture of asphalt and gravel. I did not make the terminal building and I have no photo or even a recollection of what it looks like, so you should first install Northwest Ontario Airports by Eric O'Link as he has a terminal building for CYXL that might be how it looks; some of his airfields collide with other and newer versions and I have kept only his CYXL and CYPL bgl's.

Gusev Crater Scenery Download

File Description:
Gusev Crater is an impact crater on Mars that looks as though a lake may have once filled it in the distant past. Gusev Crater is about 145 km (90 miles) wide. It is located at 14.6° South latitude and 175.3° East longitude, along the boundary between Mars' southern highlands and its lowland northern plains. The crater is about 3,000 km (1,900 miles) southeast of the volcano Elysium Mons. Scientists believe the Gusev Crater was formed by the impact of an asteroid three to four billion years ago. A valley named Ma'adim Vallis, which is connected to the south side of the crater, looks like it may have been a river channel that poured water into the crater in the past, forming a large lake. If the crater was indeed a lake, scientists expect it to contain layers of sediments as much as 915 meters (3,000 feet) thick that flowed in with the water. There may be other clues to a watery past within the crater, such as deposits of minerals, such as halite and gypsum, that form when water evaporates. Wet environments are the best places to look for life, which is why scientists are so eager to track down places on Mars that were once wet. On the 3rd of January 2004, MER-A Spirit, one of the two Mars Exploration Rovers (MER) had landed within an 81 km by 12 km (50 by 7 miles) oval near the center of Gusev Crater. Once settled into its new "home", Spirit will begin its mission of exploring for geologic evidence of the presence of water in Gusev Crater's past.

Alaska South Slope 9; Wales IWK Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which are serviced by Alaska Airlines, and from which local flights spread out. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel (not yet made). This is the second in a series for local flights from Nome, and it is on the furthermost mainland western point of Alaska, Wales IWK. It is 110 miles northwest of Nome and on the eastern shore of the Bering Strait, with a view of the two Diomede Islands. Wales is a small village with a population of only around 145, strung along the beach on a single road. The airfield is at the northwestern end of the village, with a runway of 4,500 feet of lit gravel aligned 35-17 and an apron at the southern end. There are scheduled flights by the usual Era and Bering Air, both of them originating in Nome and also visiting Shishmaref. The AI includes these flights along with Northern Air Cargo and GA. The runway is just long enough to accomodate a DC6 (as is Shishmaref) and I have revised the AI to include this, along with a revision of the parking at Shishmaref. To the southeast of Wales is Tin City, which was built as a base for the support of radar on the hills between the two. The radar is now automatic and unmanned and the base is unused except for the annual maintenance and fuel supply; I have left the airfield untouched but I have added the hilltop radar and the remains of the cable lift, which was used to get the material for the original station up to the top from the beach below.

Port Hardy CAW5 in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is the sixth in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC. Port Hardy CAW5 is in a sheltered inlet on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, close to the town and just 6 miles northwest of the Port Hardy airport. There is fuel (both JetA and 100LL) and also oil available, and the base acts as a refuelling centre for the other float bases in the neighbourhood. The dock is one-sided as the northern side borders a shallow area that is in fact exposed at low tide, as is most of the inlet to the south of BC Packers (adjacent to the float base, to the south). The parking along the dock is maximised by backing up each plane by hand so that it is close to the one behind it; this is not possible to replicate with AI in FS9 (watch the video). Watch out for the log boom on the other side of the inlet, it is there to protect fish farm "pools". The AI involves several Beavers and Otters, as listed in the AI folder. At Port Hardy all the AI works for both landing and takeoff for all of the planes, no matter what is the wind direction. There is a pic of the Supplement Port Hardy page, showing the two take-off and landing areas plus the third area that is to be used for take-off before 7am. All of these float bases can be installed together in the same folders, with a saving in duplicate textures. So a series called BC Floats (or whatever you want to call it) or individually installed float bases; your choice. The next in the series was suposed to be Sullivan Bay, another floating marina, but I digressed to Port Hardy and Port McNeill (next to be posted). The two hotels by the nearby marina are included. One of them gave me weird problems and I gave up on achieving the correct shape.
