Second demo for the TerraMesh range of mesh scenery released by LAGO in the summer of 2002. DTED Level 0 and Vmap 0 and 1 result in 5 seconds/arc resolution without the need to add interpolated points. Techtalk for stunning detail and large files. The sections will sell for 5 Euro each.

Palisades SRTM Altitude Mesh

File Description:
Ever wanted to fly down the VFR corridor over the Hudson River and gawk at all the skyscrapers in New York City? ... in your dreams! The Department of Fatherland Security has closed it down.

But, we still have Flight Simulator. Unfortunately, the altitude mesh for this area is somewhat lacking in detail.

This Palisades altitude mesh remedies that. Covers the Palisades cliffs, of course (but no Amusement Park, sniff), and also Riverside, Morningside, and Washington Heights, and Fort Tryon. In fact, all 5 Boroughs of New York City are covered, as well as most of central and northern New Jersey (visit beautiful downtown Hoboken!), and the larger part of Long Island. Also Rockland, Westchester, Orange, Putnam counties and more. And even Bear Mountain State Park.

Approximate coverage: N40* to N42* and W73* to W75*.

Made from NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data (3 arc-second resampled to LOD9 - horizontal resolution of 76.4 meters) using SRTM to BGL by Matthew Styles (available in the AvSim library.) Very easy to use - give it a try.

BONUS: includes simple instructions so that anyone can make altitude mesh for their area from SRTM data using SRTM to BGL by Matthew Styles. Sorry, SRTM data only available for the Americas at the moment. The rest of the world coming soon. Check inside for more details.

No support of any kind is offered for this package - very sorry.

"Himalayan Peaks" LOD10 Mesh, Volume 5 - Garhwal

File Description:
Highly detailed terrain mesh of the Garhwal area, N30°-32° E78°-81°. The files in this package are based on Shuttle Radar (SRTM) Version 2 data but with many of the void areas, especially the most significant sections, filled with elevation data generated from topographic maps by Jonathan de Ferranti. While Jonathan's work is unrelated to flight simulation he kindly gave me permission to compile his data for use in FS. The result is a wonderful improvement in detail and accuracy over any existing mesh file, freeware or commercial, based on SRTM or DTED data alone. Due to the large area of the Himalayas I've compiled the source data as two separate series: the "Himalayan Peaks" series covers prominent mountains and ranges in higher detail and locally overrides any existing LOD9 terrain mesh. In addition, a LOD9 "base mesh" series covering the entire Himalayas will be available for those who do not yet have an add-on terrain mesh of these beautiful mountains.

South-east Asia SRTM Mesh part 5

File Description:
This release covers all of following countries: Thailand, Laos, Kampuchea and Vietnam. Also include parts of Malaysia (Malacca peninsula), Burma (along Thai border) and China (along Vietnam and Laos borders). See SE-Asia-Mesh-part5-1.jpg for detail of BGL coverage. This part includes Indo-6 and Thailand-E BGL files. Based on SRTM Data (3 arcsec, 90m), generated with Matthew Styles's program "SRTM To BGL v1.04", sampled to LOD9 resolution (76m). John Childs's Blackart program was used to fix large void areas by merging with DTED0 data.

Linosa island, Sicily, Italy

File Description:
The photoreal scenery covers the little island of linosa located on the Sicilian Sea. The PhotoReal Scenery has been realized with the new FSX SDK specifications: high resolution (1.19 meter/pixel definition) and blending mask for water. The night texture and autogen are also present.

File Description:
An update for the new 76m SRTM mesh for South Africa. This will fix the problem of the default mesh being pulled down to sea level in parts of Botswana and Mozambique. This file also extends the mesh deeper into Botswana and Mozambique.

Var-Sky Airport (JY08), NJ

File Description:
Located 02 miles E of Woodstown, New Jersey on 38 acres of land, Var-Sky Airport is a private turf strip 1165' in length and a slightly challenging approach with trees closely bordering the sides of both runway ends. This airport has lighting on the runway however there is no beacon and the windsock (located atop the hangar) is not lit. There are no services offered for transient aircraft. There is no hard surfaced runway so having your terrain mesh settings as high as possible is recommended. Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 004. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.

Lesser Antilles SRTM Mesh

File Description:
This is a terrain mesh scenery for the whole lesser antilles, from the Anguilla Isl (north) to Trinidad Isl (south), including a small part of Venezuela. Based on SRTM Data (3 arc/ sec), generated with Matthew Styles's program "SRTM To BGL v1.04", sampled to LOD9 resolution (76m) with 5 interpolation passes. While tested under Fs2004, this mesh should also run in FS2002.
