Alaskan Commuter #9: North Alaskan Skies 2002

File Description:
Enhancements to 50 land-based airports in Northern Alaska. Includes static aircraft and additional airport structures as well as easy to install landclass files. These landclass files add small villages and stands of conifers that blanket the surrounding areas. The experience can be further enhanced with autogen tree replacements by either Ed Truthan or Gerrish Gray (download separately). This will greatly improve the look of autogen conifers, and multiply their numbers significantly. The results are realistic approaches over thickly forested areas into bush airports with small nearby communities, and it is fairly gentle on frame rates. If you download this scenery, and if you are not using these replacement trees, I recommend (no, I insist) that you download one of those utilities now. Look for "conifers.zip" by Ed Truthan or "MSTrees2.zip" by Gerrish Gray.

World Capital Tour

File Description:
On this tour you will nearly visit all capitals in the world except for the capital or the country has no airport like Monaco. The tour starts at Falklands and ends in New Zealand via South America, the Carribean, Central America, North America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia/Oceania. The tour is designed as a sightseeing tour, means the maximum distance is about 600 nm and you will fly at altitudes between 7000ft and 16000ft. Only at the Anden and Himalaya region the altitude will be higher. The tour has approximately 290 legs and the total distance is 95400 nm. The package includes the PLN files for all legs. Additionally there's an Excel-Sheet which you can use as a logbook and KLM files so you can display the tour on Google Earth.

Default AI General Aviation V2

File Description:
These files are the default AI flight plans for all the general aviation flights as delivered in Flight Simulator 2004. They have been separated by aircraft and sorted by departure region/country. These flightplans may be used as a basis for more realistic GA traffic. From replacing the tail numbers with realistic regionally accurate numbers to completely replacing the default flights with more realistic AI GA traffic on a regional basis. These files will also make it easier to shift GA traffic out of major commercial hub airports (so you won't be running over a Cessna 172 while on final approach into JFK any more). This second version is to correct the Beech King Air 350 (AC#2). In the first version all the flight plans had somehow been doubled in the file.

Smoke Jumpers FX

File Description:
Now you can shuttle smoke-jumpers to that hard-to-get-to forest fire. These FX files allow you to drop a number of orange-clad firefighters from the DC-3, JU-52, or DeHaviland Otter. Editing the included text insert (door location) for the aircraft.cfg file will allow them to jump from any other plane of your choosing as well. I no longer have FS2002 so was unable to test this with that FS version. I wish to thank Mr. Pierino Primavesi for his kind permission in allowing me to modify the FX files he made for his Luftwaffe version of the JU-52. Fiji Airstrips

File Description:
Afcads and exclude files for 11 airstrips in Fiji that Microsoft omitted from FS9. Made primarily with Ultimate Traffic users in mind, to give full traffic in the Fiji Islands (aircraft assigments permitting!). The Afcads add runways, aprons and parking spots; the exclude files get rid of the autogen trees. Airstrips built using current data from Australian Defense Force En Route Supplements, so runway locations, dimensions, alignments and elevations are fairly accurate. But aprons and parking spots are entirely fictional! And no airport buildings included! Tested only with default scenery plus fijifix.zip by Jim Keir (available at avsim) to correct elevation errors in default mesh at Moala. Includes NFNB Levuka/Bureta, NFCI Cicia, NFKD Kandavu/Namalata, NFNO Koro Is, NFNK Lakeba, NFNH Laucala, NFFO Malololailai, NFMA Mana Is, NFMO Moala, NFNS Savusavu and NFVB Vanuabalavu.

Mesh South America / MeSA Galapagos

File Description:
This terrain mesh file is a part of a whole project covering all the Continent of South America and some islands, divided in tiles identified in a map by its column (letters) and rows (numbers). Those files were multi-LOD compiled from 90m SRTM2 source data, reprocessed with 3DEM to remove voids and spikes, providing a 76.4m (LOD9) horizontal resolution topography intended for use only in FSX updated with SP1. Although not well documented, to improve performance, the updated FSX loads DEM files in threads and only the closer terrain (about 5 NM from the point of view) is rendered in high detail, while at far distances FSX shows up its default low resolution mesh, when there is not a third part terrain mesh compiled in all others intermediate level of details (multi-LOD).

PMDG SIDSTARS Cycle 0609 Collection

File Description:
PMDG SIDSTARS Procedure files by Dan Downs for current (31Aug06-28Sep) cycle. Source for all changes and additions is FAA NACO Digital Terminal Procedures charts. Most of these files are based on earlier work by Terry Yingling, with much appreciation; however, I have started developing my own procedures and these will include useful information in the header of each text file, including DP and STAR charts to assist in selecting procedures. The latest of these is KHOU; also, KFLL and KONT have been added to the collection since the last cycle.
