This package contains two repaints for Jens B. Kristensen's FSX Douglas DC-4 & C-54 V3.0. One repaint represents Resort Airlines' C-54A (modified to DC-4 standard) N65142 while on lease to Slick Airways from 1 July 1959 till 30 June 1960 for military charter flying (Logair) for the U.S. Goverment. After having returned to Resort Airlines she was placed in open storage at Oakland, CA. The other repaint represents the same aircraft in her British ferry markings she carried in July 1961. Around 1961-62 five ex-Resort C-54s which had been stored at Oakland for some time, ranging from several months to 6 years, were rescued by Aviation Traders (of Southend and Stansted, England) from the scrapdealer's axe and converted to ATL.98 Carvair car-ferry and cargo aircraft. N65142, which was in a very poor condition after her Logair period of minimal maintenance and repeated overloading, as well as the abuse by the elements during the open air storage close to sea water, was one of these lucky birds.

| Lockheed VC-121A Constellation "Columbine II" |

File Description:
The Lockheed C-121A Constellation is the military transport version of the L-749A Constellation. Delivered on 22 November 1948, this particular aircraft was soon converted to VC-121A VIP-transport. From November 1952 till November 1954 this was the personal transport of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
In 1952, President Eisenhower was flying to Florida. The Presidential plane was named 'Columbine II' (after the official flower of Colorado, the First Lady's home state), but it was identified to flight controllers as "Air Force 610" (from its tail number 48-610). However, flying in the same general region was Eastern Airlines Flight 610. The Eastern Airlines pilot overheard a conversation between flight controllers and the President's plane, and for a moment thought the references to flight "610" were meant for him. Although nothing untoward happened, the government realized that the confusion could have been tragic. Since then, any Air Force aircraft with the President on board has been referred to as "Air Force One." Thus, the 'Columbine II' was the first aircraft to be distinguished with this designation, and she served President Eisenhower for several years in this role. The usual pilots were Acft. Cmdr. (Lt.) Col. William G. Draper and Pilot Maj. William W. Thomas. This repaint has been tested in FS2004 only. However, it should be working in FSX also. You will require Team 749's (Manfred Jahn and Co) Lockheed L-749 Constellation package (LOCKHEED749.ZIP), the folder Lockheed_L749_0 (twin stack exhausts). Also required Team 749's Lockheed L-749 Constellation models update (749_MODELS_UPDATE.ZIP). Repaint by Maarten Brouwer, with a big thankyou to Eric Joiner for his permission to use his Columbine nose art.

Unfortunately a little error slipped into my repaint for Manfred Jahn & Co's Lockheed L-749 Constellation feat. the VC-121A "Columbine" (columbine_II.zip). The texture enclosed should correct this error. Just drop it into your texture.Columbine_II folder overwriting the bmp wings_t. My apologies for any inconvenience.

The Il-18 is a four turboprop engined passenger aircraft for medium-long range. The first Kuznetsov NK4 powered flight was on 4 Jul 1957 from Moscow-Khodynka airport, the first Ivchenko AI-20 powered flight on 17 Sep 1958. This plane was produced in series for 12 years and achieved great popularity due to the favourable load factor. The main operator was Aeroflot, but the IL-18 proved a popular plane with airlines behind the former "Iron Curtain". The first operator outside the former USSR was the state airline of communist China, CAAC, who took delivery of 13 IL-18's between 1959 and 1967. Featured are two early production IL-18B's, two IL-18V's (the most common version) and one IL-18E Salon VIP-transport (in fact Mao Zedongs personal aircraft). These are textures only. On 12 June 1962 the four years young Dutch charter company Martin's Air Charter (MAC), proud owner of two de Havilland DH-104 Dove and two Douglas C-47 ("DC-3") aircraft, welcomed at its Amsterdam homebase the flagship of the fleet: the Douglas C-54B ("DC-4") PH-MAE. Until that moment the largest aircraft of MAC, whose main activities were on the IT-charters and ad-hoc cargo transport, were C-47 PH-MAA which was limited to the transport of max. 32 passengers and C-47 PH-MAB which had a large freight door and could transport a maximum of 3 tons payload. C-54B PH-MAE was a huge improvement since it could transport 70 passengers or 7 tons payload. The other great advantage being it range (medium distance). It soon became a very popular aircraft. With the arrival of the larger Douglas DC-6A combiplane PH-MAM in 1966, the days of PH-MAE with MAC were numbered. The C-54B was sold in February 1967 to the German operator Allgemeine Lufttransport All-Air. Around the same time Martin's Air Charter had changed its name into Martinair Holland and as such entered the turboprop and jet age. These are textures only. You will need Jens B.
