| Douglas XC-112A/YC-112A (DC-6 prototype) |

File Description:
In order to meet a USAAF requirement for an improved version of the C-54 Skymaster, Douglas proposed in July 1944 a simple development of the C-54E, combining its unpressurized fuselage with 2100 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800 C series engines: the XC-112. Soon this idea was dropped in favour of the stretched and pressurized XC-112A. The XC-112A made its first flight on 15 February 1946 and was in fact the prototype of the civil DC-6. Following the first initial testing the aircraft was delivered on 22 June 1946 to the USAAF, designated YC-112A, where it flew 9 years before starting a 21 years spanning commercial career as a DC-6. | Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II' |

FS2004 Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II'.
The Lockheed C-121A Constellation is the military
transport version of the L-749A Constellation.
Delivered on 22 November 1948, this particular aircraft
was soon converted to VC-121A VIP-transport. From
November 1952 till November 1954 this was the personal
transport of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1952,
President Eisenhower was flying to Florida. The
Presidential plane was named 'Columbine II' (after the
official flower of Colorado, the First Lady’s home
state), but it was identified to flight controllers as
“Air Force 610” (from its tail number 48-610). However,
flying in the same general region was Eastern Airlines
Flight 610. The Eastern Airlines pilot overheard a
conversation between flight controllers and the
President’s plane, and for a moment thought the
references to flight “610” were meant for him. Although
nothing untoward happened, the government realized that
the confusion could have been tragic. Since then, any
Air Force aircraft with the President on board has been
referred to as “Air Force One.” Thus, the 'Columbine
II' was the first aircraft to be distinguished with
this designation, and she served President Eisenhower
for several years in this role.
This repaint is a much improved version of the one
issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX
version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will
function there as well.

Platinum Collection (see

| DDA Douglas C-54A-DC ZS-IPR |

File Description:
FSX/FS2004 DDA Douglas C-54A-DC ZS-IPR. This aircraft was built a C-54A-5-DO Skymaster at Santa Monica, CA, for the USAAF. After WW2 struck off and converted to DC-4 standard. Having served various civil and military operators in the USA, Philippines, Thailand, Botswana, South Africa and Namibia from 1946 till 1981, the C-54A was bought by the South African Air Force on 23 April 1981 as 6906 in order to replace DC-4 6903. In 6906 was sold 1995 to Aero Air (Pty) Ltd. as ZS-IPR. Then bought in November 1996
by the Dutch Dakota Association for spares for its DC-4 PH-DDS. At that time it was the 3rd oldest airworthy C-54/DC-4. The white and blue 'livery' was only meant to ferry the aircraft safely over the troubled continent of Africa. It was kind of improvisation as at the moment the DDA people arrived in South Africa to collect the plane, it was still in the camouflage colours
of South Africa which isn't very practical if you have to fly across warzones. On 4 June 1997 this 'bunch of spares flying in perfect formation' arrived at Schiphol, where it was stored and dismantled. Since PH-DDS returned to South Africa, the C-54A is on display from 2003 as NGAT's

In my search for sounds that would be (nearly) matching the real sounds of the Douglas C-54/DC-4 and the Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair (vehicle ferry conversion of the C-54 and DC-4), I struck on the DC-3 Sound Pack compiled
by Des Braban several years ago. Although intended as a DC-3 sound set, it doesn't quite sound like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp C-series (aka R-1830) engines which powered the majority of the DC-3/C-47/C-53 aircraft. Instead it sounds much more like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp D-series (aka R-2000) engines which powered the C-54/DC-4 and, later on, the Pan American converted Hi-Per DC-3, the EC-47Q, the DHC-4 Caribou and ATL.98 Carvair. In order to make the sound set appropriate for the four engined C-54/DC-4/Carvair, I slightly altered the sound.cfg by just doubling the number of engines and copying some existing lines. Nothing else has been changed. All the wav files remained unaltered and no wav files have been added. The result, however, is a full sound which is very close to that of the real C-54/DC-4/Carvair. In order to get the proper sound, you will require Des Braban's DC-3 Sound Package (dc3sndpk.zip). Original sound.cfg by Des Braban; revised for Douglas DC-4/C-54 and Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair by Maarten Brouwer.

| Douglas VC-54C-1-DO 'Sacred Cow' |

File Description:
Built a C-54A-5-DO Skymaster at Santa Monica, CA, for the USAAF (c/n 7470) and delivered on 26 January 1944. Converted to VC-54C-1-DO for personal use by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Irreverent journalists promptly named it 'Sacred Cow'. The VC-54C contained an electric elevator to lift the polio-struck Roosevelt and his wheelchair on board. The elevator was raised from the ground into the aircraft's belly for which purpose a hatch in the bottom of the fuselage could be opened. President Roosevelt made only a few flights with the 'Sacred Cow', the most famous journey being to and from the Yalta Conference with Stalin and Churchill in the Soviet Union.
Following the death of Roosevelt, his successor Harry S. Truman continued using the 'Sacred Cow' till July 1947. Nowadays the aircraft is on display at the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, be it with a different serial number. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Air Ceylon was formed in 1947 by the government of the newly independent Republic of Ceylon (nowadays Sri Lanka). That same year three Lockheed L-749 Constellations were ordered for the connection Colombo-London. The order for the Connies lapsed and in 1949 Air Ceylon started a service operating Douglas DC-4s leased from Australian National Airways (ANA), who owned 49% of the shares (the other 51% were owned by the government of Ceylon). However, fierce competition from BOAC's DH-104 Comet 1 and TWA's L-749 Constellation forced Air Ceylon to close the London connection in 1953. In 1955 KLM Royal Dutch Airlines took over the shares from ANA. From 7 February 1956 till 1 November 1958 Air Ceylon leased KLM's L-749A Constellation PH-LDP for its new, weekly connection Colombo-(Bombay)-Karachi-Bahrain-Cairo-Rome-London-Amsterdam. For a limited period this route was extended from Colombo to Bangkok. PH-LDP was sprayed in a very pretty, exotic livery and received the name 'Mahadevi', its previous name having been 'Rotterdam'. In November 1958 PH-LDP was superseded by KLM's L-1049G Super Constellation PH-LKA/4R-ACH which also received a full Air Ceylon livery. On 3 November 1958 PH-LDP was written from use at Schiphol (Amsterdam) and has been scrapped sometime in 1962.

Re-upload. FSX/FS2004 KLM Douglas C-54B-DC PH-DBZ. Built a C-54B-1-DC Skymaster at Chicago, IL, for the USAAF (c/n 10480). Powered by four 1,350 hp Pratt & Whitney R-2000-7 engines.After WW2 struck off and converted by Douglas at Santa Monica, CA (DC-4 conversion No. 67, powered by four 1,450 hp Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp 2SD13G engines). Sold on 15 January 1947 to Santa Fe Skyways as N90862 'Sky Chief Apache'. Sold on 24 May 1948 to KLM as PH-TEZ 'Zeeland'. Used as a freighter only. Re-registered PH-DBZ on 29 March 1954. Broken up in 1958. Remains sold on 20 April 1959 to Aviation Traders Ltd., Southend, UK. Fuselage used as a mock up for the ATL.98 Carvair. Tail section of fuselage used to replace damaged tail section of Carvair #1 in July-September 1961. You will require Jens B. Before and after World War II, KLM was a major European operator of the Douglas DC-3. The first DC-3, PH-ALI 'Ibis', entered service with KLM in October 1936. This made KLM the first operator of the DC-3 in Europe.
22 others would join before Nazi-Germany invaded the Netherlands on 10 May 1940 and occupied the country for five dark years. Those DC-3's present at Amsterdam-Schiphol, if not destroyed by bombs, were impounded by the Germans. Other DC-3's that happened to be elsewhere out of reach of the enemy found their way either to the Dutch East Indies where they served on the KNILM routes until the Japanese invasion in February 1942, or to England where they were leased by BOAC for the London (later Bristol) to Lisbon service.
Both PH-ALI 'Ibis' and PH-ARW 'Wulp' moved to England. Unfortunately they did not survive World War II. The 'Wulp' was destroyed in November 1940 when Bristol got bombed by
the German Luftwaffe. The 'Ibis' was shot down by Junkers Ju-88's on 1 June 1943 over the Bay of Biscay.
The repaints of PH-ALI and PH-ARW are based on the templates Mark Beaumont created for the MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 (passenger version), which were based on Jan Visser's original textures. These are textures only. You will require MAAM-SIM's great donationware Douglas R4D/DC-3 package. Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

This file contains correct night textures for the fuselages of the Carvairs of Air Ferry G-ASKG (see file AT98AF.zip), British United Air Ferries G-ARSD (see file AT98OT2.zip), Channel Air Bridge G-ANYB, G-ASRD and G-ARSF (see file AT98CAB.zip), Hawaii Pacific Air N5459M and N5459X (see file AT98HAW.zip), and Hawkair C-GAAH (see file AT98CAH1.zip). These fixes will correct the window arrangement on the night textures of the aircrafts' fuselage.
