There sure is more than one reason to go to Aspen and this is sure another must-have of my Colorado sceneries. If you're coming IFR there's a couple of very demanding approach procedures. From a LOC/DME to several visual approaches there's everything your heart might desire. Due to the steep and high surrounding terrain these are quiet some hair raisers (see www.airnav.com/airport/KASE). If you're coming VFR then the traffic pattern altitude is 9.005 ft for light aircraft (vs. 9.505 for aircraft 12.500 lbs or more). Weather and wind permitting, RW15 is preferred for all landings (left pattern). RW33 has a right pattern and is preferred for all takeoffs. You even need a written permission to depart RW15. When departing VFR make a right turn to a heading of 360 degrees ASAP for noise abatement and hold this heading for at least 2 miles from the field. And don't forget to enjoy the impressive mountain scenery with two 14ers: Snowmass Mtn. and Castle Pk. to the southwest. This scenery brings you another 3.500 sq km of beautiful Colorado in 4.7m/pix quality. The Deluxe version of Flight Simulator X contains a very easy-to-use tool for placing scenery objects visually within the game. Unfortunately, the Microsoft developers neglected to tell anybody.
This document contains an illustrated explanation of this tool and how to use it.
My most sincere apologies - I am unable, for lack of free time, to offer support of any kind. For questions or problems, please post in the Avsim scenery design forum.

| Small Airstrip Objects SS FS9 scenery objects |

File Description:
As far as I know, this is the most comprehensive collection to date of small airport scenery objects. More importantly, these are, for the most part, objects that have never before been made available. Most of these objects were suggested by Rob de Vries in the Netherlands, who also provided me with many useful photos on which to base the designs. My thanks to Rob.
Objects include:
* Runway end and side markers in a variety of materials and colors.
* Ground markings of various kinds, including a compass rose, runway & airport closed indicators, and general aviation parking guides.
* Animated wind T, tetrahedron, and wind sock (wind sock by Jörg Dannenberg).
* Segmented circles in two styles and colors, with runway and pattern indicators. (For information on how to use segmented circles, see enclosed FAA document circles.pdf.)
* Weathered asphalt and concrete surfaces.
Most of the objects come in new and weathered versions. In addition, the segmented circles and wind indicators come with and without night lighting. These are standard FS9 scenery objects and can be placed using Instant Scenery or other programs that are able to use FS9 scenery libraries.

I recently saw an article with photos of an Icelandair heavy landing in Antarctica.
It was carrying researchers and tourists to the Norwegian Troll Research Station.
This is a representation of the airfield and station. Ice runway and apron. Fuel available.
A driveable Icebus is present to take your passengers from the airfield to the research station.
