| McDonnell Douglas MD-82 |
|
File Description:
The McDonnell Douglas/Boeing MD-82 is a short to medium range airliner, initially developed by McDonnell Douglas as the DC-9. The seventy-seater DC9-10 dates back to the early 1960’s. The DC-9 Super 80 was a further refinement of this aircraft, with more powerful engines, further stretched fuselage and larger wing span and was later renamed as the MD-80 range. This aircraft is the MD-82, which is one of several models in the range.
This aircraft features full animation, full lighting effects and reflective textures. A custom-deigned, photo-realistic panel with xml-gauges is also included. Four versions, painted in the colors of American Airlines, British Midland, Kulula.com and 1Time Airline, are provided.

| Airport Environment Upgrade 8 |
|
File Description:
These are the textures from the unfinished version of the Airport Environment Upgrade (AEU8) project that I abandoned in December of 2005. For best results you should use these textures along with AEU7 (aeu7.zip) because only about half of the textures were ever finished for this project. These textures have not been tested with FSX and are not expected to display properly in that version of Flight Simulator. Seasonal runways, taxiways, ramp areas, and about half of the airport building textures were completed. Reflective effects were never added to the new textures before the project was abandoned. A completely new version of AEU for FSX is planned for the future but I haven't determined when work will begin on that project.

| Aeroflot Russian Airlines Airbus A350 |
|
File Description:
Demoversion with banners, new VOR gauge, with new PANEL and GAUGES, new external model, sound and virtual cockpit. The A350 XWB (Xtra Wide-Body) is Airbus’ response to market demand for a medium capacity long range wide-body family. Designed with airlines’ priorities in mind, the A350 XWB confronts the challenges of high fuel prices, rising passenger expectations and increasing environmental concerns. Available from 2013, it has an entirely new, uncompromised, 21st Century design with a wider and taller fuselage for extra space and passenger comfort. A complete family of airliners sized to generate cost reductions and provide unprecedented operating flexibility for airlines; three basic passenger versions are being offered. With a range of up to 8,300nm/15,380km they include the A350-800 for 270 passengers in a spacious three-class configuration; the A350-900 for 314 passengers and the A350-1000 seating 350 passengers. An ultra long-range version, the A350–900R, will fly even further while a freighter version, the A350–900F, will complement the passenger models.
As befits the most advanced aircraft family in its segment, the A350 XWB is able to provide greater economy on long-range markets and is equally attractive as a route opener or as part of a multi-type Airbus fleet offering optimized network solutions. Thanks to the application of the latest innovations, the A350 XWB is able to offer 20 per cent lower cash operating costs per seat than competing aircraft in this size category and fuel efficiency improvements of up to 25 per cent per seat. The fly-by-wire A350 XWB Family is a significant addition to the Airbus product range. A member of the Airbus FBW Family of aircraft, it benefits from the same operational commonality as the other members of the Family. This handling and flight deck commonality allows airlines to benefit from the unique Airbus Family concept of cross crew qualification and mixed fleet flying, and will ensure smooth introduction into service. | Coal Harbour CAQ3 float base in British Columbia, Canada |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This is number eight in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC. Coal Harbour is in a sheltered cove off Holberg Inlet on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, close to the village and 10 miles southwest of the Port Hardy float base. There is 100LL fuel and oil available. Due to the deep fjords that run into Vancouver Island from the west coast Coal Harbour is actually closer to the east coast than it is to the west coast. The tortuous route in through Quatsino Sound and Rupert Sound shelters the waters of Holberg Inlet from the stormy seas of the west coast, and fishing boats take advantage of this. The floatplane dock is to the south of the large (and old) hangar, adjacent to the southern end of the fixed dock where the ramp bridge descends to the floating docks. The video makes it clearer. The AI is a further adaptation of the CF36 AI and involves Beavers and Otters as listed in the AI folder. Due to the surrounding hills there may be some interference with AI aircraft, depending on the wind direction, though I have watched succesful Beaver and Otter landings. Amid the hills there is a very large hole in the ground to the east. The village name suggests it may have been for coal but though in fact there was a coal mine, that was a much smaller and unsuccesful venture; this particular scene of enthusiastic digging was for copper, until 1996. The main claim to fame of Coal Harbour was that it was the last whaling station in North America, using the buildings that were part of the RCAF float plane patrol base during WW2. One downloader reported a texture problem with Port McNeill, to which we found a solution. As he was the only person to email me I am going to presume that nobody else had the problem.

| Northrop F-5B Freedom Fighter Hellenic Air Force |
|
File Description:
This is a superb aircraft I used to fly as a Hellenic Air Force pilot. This repaint is presenting an F-5B Freedom Fighter as it used to fly with 343rd Squadron of Hellenic Air Force, during the '90ties. The F-5 Freedom Fighter was a very succesfull aircraft during its 30 year carrer in HAF as a fighter, bomber, multy role aircraft until the early months 2001 when finaly released by active duty. The project is fully combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions. It is based on a very realistic FS model, with realistic features, made by FSD International. The package contains realistic sounds made by Mr. Angelos Hatzikatakos. A new, based on real photos and diagrams 2D panel, was made by Nick Karatzides who also modified (for FS purposes) the official checklist by Northrop. A VERY completed flight manual (60 pages) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat is included. The panel (combatible with both FS2K2 & FS9 versions) uses plenty of realistic gauges to simulate the real F-5's cockpit. The HUD gauge is made by Mr. Eric Marciano, afterburner flame effects by Mr. Jan Rosenberg and fuel jettison gauge by Mr. Doug Dawson. This "F5B_HAF1.zip" package is for EXPERIENCED FlightSimers and virtual pilots who have a "good feeling" on the controls and do not "kick" the contol stick while flying...It is for people who want to know how it looks to fly with a modern fighter. The package contains visual effects, night lighting, fine looking mechanical parts movement, contrails, realistic gears extracting / retracting etc. Instructions for both FS2K2 and FS9 versions are included.

| TU-95MS Bear H |

File Description:
The Russian Air Force 37th Air Army operates the TU-95MS (TU-95M 55 Bear H) from the 182th TBAP unit based in Zavitinsk and 6213 BKHUAT based at Engels Air Base in the Moscow Region. It's use is primarily in maritime operations. She carries cruise missiles even if only used for submarine comms. Her initial design is a competitor with the B-52, but uses 4 Turboprop engines with 8 contra-rotating props. She can fly about as far as, but not as high as the B-52, nor can she fly as fast. She is often monitored off the coast of Alaska and easily met with F-22 Raptors every time. She is also often met by NATO fighters near European borders. Since 45,000 feet is about the highest she can cruise, most fighters can meet her. Her real danger is the cruise missiles which, if launched, have a range more than 1,500 nm and can pinpoint any directed target using GPS ground control. She is normally flown in formations of 3 or more, but sometimes only 2 are observed. She is not designed to fly fast over low terrain, like the B-52, but can do-so if necessary, and dangerously. The aircraft has not seen any major improvements or modifications since the cold war era, and several have crashed due to lack of maintenance. It is currently unknown how many are in service condition. Since much is unknown about this aircraft, yet enough is known to re-create an authentically working model, I have done-so here. Every bit of the aircraft.cfg file and associated .air file has been re-worked to match what known data can offer, and known aerodynamic formulas can equate. The most difficult aspect is the Turboprop aspect, since Turboprop engines do not work like jet engines in any way. Luckily for the simmer, there is no need to adjust feathering or anything like that would be necessary in a normal Turboprop because these engines are self-adjusting. Even though they meet the full known specs of the real engines, I have actually worked all the math to make them actual Turboprop engines (not pseudo-jet engines). That may sound exciting, but you must remember that she is a prop-driven aircraft, and not a jet. Even though you can fly her like a jet, the engines do not adjust like a jet. All aspects have been configured to meet realistic standards, including the MOI factors, weight/balance (including payload positions), gear locations, aircraft dimensions, light positions, engine smoke locations and operations, and weight. I did not simply throw this together, but have been perfecting her for many years. Original Modeler/Sounds: Vladimir Zhyhulskiy (2006); Panel: Marco Spada; Auto Smoke Effects: Richard Wisman; Aero/Engine Dynamics, effects, and details: Douglas E. Trapp, FS Flight Dynamics Engineer, [email protected], November 2018.
