Included are four repaints for four of the section leaders of U.S. Navy Scouting Squadron Three (VS-3), assigned to the Saratoga Air Group but temporarily operating aboard the USS Lexington for a single cruise in 1939, for which the squadron adopted the Lexington's yellow tail. Re-upload. Alternative, light grey-blue textures for the RealAir Spitfire 2008 Mark IX High Altitude Flight's BF273 aircraft. Some sources describe this livery for BF273 (rather than the default's dark blue) -- but whichever, they both show off the beautiful lines of RealAir's wonderful model. On 12 September 1942 this aircraft, flown by Flying Officer Emanuel Galitzine -- a Russian prince -- fought the highest air battle of WW2. Flying BF273 he intercepted a Junkers JU86R above Southampton at 41,000ft the battle continuing up to 43,000ft.
Although Galitzine's cannon jammed and the Junkers escaped with just one hit, it was enough for the Luftwaffe to cease high altitude attacks against England. DXT5 textures by Grant MacLean.

File Description:
F-4S 157293 (DC 11) of VMFA-122 "Crusaders" stationed at MCAS Beaufort in 1985. This aircraft is credited with shooting down a Mig-21 on June 21, 1972 while operating as an F-4J assigned to VF-31 aboard the USS Saratoga (note the star on the port splitter plate). Pilot was CDR Sam Flynn and RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) was LT. Bill John. Probably not exact, just the work of a Phormer Phantom Phixer from VMFA-321 and VMFP-3 having some Phun. Thanks to John Detrick for allowing me to use his base textures and also Gus Robatto for allowing me to use his Tex2 texture. © ALPHA Simulations 2004\n\n
