File Description:
Republic F-105 Thunderchief. This is another Jake Burrus aircraft I have been able to bring to the flightsim world. Originally introduced in 1958 as a low-level nuclear weapons delivery aircraft in the middle of the Cold War, this aircraft became the backbone of conventional bombing during most of the Vietnam War. As a testament to the aircraft's role, the bravery of its pilots, and the ferocity of the North Vietnamese air defense network, nearly half of the 833 airframes were lost in combat operations. Due to the extensive combat use of the Thud, it had a relatively short service life, with limited use after Vietnam, until the aircraft's final retirement in 1984.
This is part 1 of 2 parts, and represents the use of the F-105B/D/F from 1958-1966; to include 16 model variants and 131 repaints; but includes all of the F-105B units including those used post-Vietnam by ANG and AFRES units. This scenery is fictional of Vancouver Medical Center. The added medical complex has 2 landable helipads. One is part of the "hospital" object and one is additional on another building at the complex. Both are landable. The complex is just south of the downtown area. Future FSX missions will utilize both these sceneries. Read the txt file for two install options. Pre FS2004 Reminder. FS Rule #1 - provide maximum computer resources for your Flight Simulator environment! If you are like me, too often I forget to close unnecessary programs before starting Flight Simulator. This little addon utility, in the form of a simple batch file, will bring up a reminder screen, allowing you to close other programs and allowing you time to do so before it starts Flight Simulator. The batch file uses an old MSDOS popup utility from the early 90's (by Robin Latham) which works just fine in Windows XP. This utility may be used in conjunction with Geoffrey Schreiber's fine Splash Screen Randomizer. Tested in Windows XP home edition and FS2004 only.
