Shoran Gauge

File Description: A SHORAN gauge for the panels of the B-45 Tornado, late WW2 B-17s and B-24s, Korean War B-29s and possibly other early Cold War American bombers. It was made in and for FS9 but should work in any sim that handles XML gauges, or can be placed on a 2D panel in any sim. It doesn't actually work, since there are no SHORAN transmitting stations in FS9, but it can add a bit of authenticity to the panels of appropriate planes. The the instrument face is modeled on a photo of one in a Korean War B-29.

X1WL - RAF Welford - Berkshire, England

File Description:
RAF Welford (ICAO X1WL) is an active Royal Air Force station in Berkshire, England. The airfield is located approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of Newbury; about 50 miles (80 km) west-southwest of London. It opened in 1943 and was used during the Second World War by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as a transport airfield. After the war it was closed in 1946 and placed in reserve status. As a result of the Cold War, the station was reopened in 1955 as a munitions depot by the United States Air Force. Today it is still used by the United States Air Force although not as an active airfield. Source: Wikipedia

RAF Faldingworth - Lincolnshire, England

File Description:
RAF Faldingworth was a Royal Air Force station used during and after the Second World War. It was located close to the village of Faldingworth in Lincolnshire, England.

It was used during the war by number 300 (Polish) Squadron and a memorial is now in place to them at the end of the main runway.

RAF Spanhoe - Northamptonshire, England

File Description:
RAF Spanhoe (also known as Harringworth or Wakerley) (ICAO X3SE) is a former World War II airfield in Northamptonshire, England. The airfield is located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Uppingham; about 80 miles (130 km) north-northwest of London

Opened in 1943, it was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces. During the war it was used primarily as a transport airfield, it was closed in late 1945 after the WWII.

Today, much of the airfield has been returned to agriculture, however; the remains of some of the runways can be seen from the air and a part of the old peri track is used by various privately owned light aircraft which are housed at the old airfield. Source: Wikipedia

File Description:
This airfield located in the southwest of Munich has been closed down in the early seventeenth. After World War II the airfield was operated by the US Air Force until it was handed over to the German Air Force in 1957. The German Air Force stationed "Transport Wing 61" there flying the French Noratlas (Nord N2501) until an aircraft model change took place (Transall C-160) which was then the main reason for moving to Landsberg (ETSA). In memory of spending some nice years in Neubiberg as a Radio Operator and Navigator I decided to reanimate this airfield.

Goodyear FG-1D Corsair VF-17 #29 Lt Kepford

File Description: This folder contains a repaint for the FG-1D Corsair by Milviz, in the colors of F4U-1 BuNo 55995 of VF-17, the aircraft flown by Lt (jg) Ira C. Kepford, Bougainville, February 1944. Ira Cassius Kepford was born in Harvey, Illinois, on May 29, 1919, son of George Raymond and Emma McLaughlin Kepford. His family moved to Muskegon, Michigan, shortly after he was born. An all-around athlete at Muskegon High School from 1935-1937, he capped his prep career by being named an All-State back in his senior year. He enrolled at Northwestern University in 1938 to study for a dentistry career. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve on August 18, 1941, and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1942, to accept appointment as Aviation Cadet, U.S.N.R. After flight training at the Naval Air Stations, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Miami, Florida, he became a Naval Aviator on November 5, 1942, and was commissioned Ensign, U.S.N.R., with date of rank October 16, 1942. Detached from Naval Air Station, Miami, Florida, in December 1942, he served with Fighting Squadron 17 in the Pacific War Area until March 1944, where he became the U.S. Navy's leading ace, scoring a record 16 confirmed Japanese planes destroyed. That squadron won the Navy Unit Commendation and he was personally awarded the Navy Cross, a Gold Star in lieu of the second Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. From March until June he was attached to the Fleet Air, Alameda, Command, and the last six months of that year served with Fighting Squadron 84. In December 1944 he was transferred to the staff of Commander Fleet Air, West Coast, and remained in that assignment throughout the remaining period of hostilities. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.
