In the early 1990s before the emergence of alliances British Airways bought a stake in US Air with the goal of improved connections and greater share of the internal US market. As a result of this three of US Air 767-200s were painted in British Airways livery, used the BA call sign "Speedbird" and had US Air crews trained to BA standards for three routes into LGW from BWI, CLT and PHL. Eventually the alliance collapsed and BA formed and alliance with American Airlines who are now ironically trying to merge with US Air's successor US Airways.

File Description:
Camden Field was once a wartime American airfield, which shows up in the wide east-west runway that has more recently been partly resurfaced. There are no runway markings beyond a centre line, and it just sort of tapers off at the sides and the eastern end into the bush. In contrast to the renovated hangar to the north of the western end of the runway the buildings to the south haven't been touched by any recent tender-loving-care. There is a wonderful patched-together shed and a small control tower, which was built on the edge of the existing runway. This makes it appear rather close to the edge of the resurfaced runway area. Do not be fooled, this is not an illusion; it IS close to the edge of the runway. Just take comfort in the thought that the prevailing southeast winds (for much of the year) will tend to blow you away from it as you approach for a landing from the west. And I kept the pre-renovation version of the old hangar when I found some old pics of the crop dusting operation from five years ago.

Founded in 1942 as an American airbase, Iqaluit is now the capital city of the northern Canadian province of Nunavut. It is the smallest Canadian capital in terms of population and the only capital that is not connected to other settlements by a highway. The airport is of critical importance to the community, especially when ice makes boat travel impossible. At 62 degrees latitude (approx. the same as Yellowknife), Iqualuit offers some of the most severe weather you are likely to encounter at any airport, and has been used for cold weather testing of new airliners.
This version of Iqaluit is a complete rebuild of the default version. Almost all the buildings have been custom modeled based on photos. The design of the terminal building at Iqaluit is one of the coolest I've seen, and was the main inspiration for making this scenery. Due to its complexity many details had to be omitted, but hopefully I was able to at least capture some of its "Yellow Submarine" uniqueness. Ramp lights, fences, ground objects, arrestor cables (non-functional) and all the rest of the usual junk is included. Also Instrument Approach Plates.

Looking to fill up FlyTampa's Kai Tak? Look no further! This package contains 1998 flightplans for Air Macau, Air Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific, and Cathay Cargo. Passenger plans are based off the summer 1998 Offical Airline Guide(OAG), while cargo plans are representative based off of early 2000s flightplans and backdated to represent the airlines in 1998. Air Macau did maintenance in Hong Kong and Air Hong Kong did training flights to Macau, this is represented in the flightplans with Air Macau spending a few days in HKG and Air Hong Kong doing 2 training flights on Sunday to MFM. If you are a P3D user, please download our package with repaints for FAIB and FSPX models. Each airline has up to 3 versions; standard, lite(with minimal variations), and bonus(with extra aircraft from the era but not active in 1998). These flightplans are part of a much larger 1998 Flight Simulator Project which will complete all scheduled, cargo, and charter flights to project countries as well as select military and GA plans as well as backdated scenery and ADEX. File Description:
Mandarin Airlines was a fully-owned affiliate of China Airlines based in RCTP. Today, Mandarin does mostly regional flying, but 1998 represented the final years of widebody operations for the carrier. The 747SPs were retired soon after, and the MD-11s and 747-400 gradually returned to China Airlines. Mandarin operated most of the US, Australian, European, and Middle Eastern flights for China Airlines at the time. Mandarin aircraft frequently swapped back and forth onto China Airlines routes and vice versa. As Mandarin had a small fleet, I elected to have Mandarin planes on Mandarin routes, but my China Airlines plans will also utilize Mandarin colors MD-11s on China Airlines routes, so the repaints in this file are required for China Airlines 1998. Swap out the aircraft as you see fit. Repaints by the talented Ranmori Scythe included for the FAIB 747-400, 747SP, and FSPX MD-11 included with flightplans by the not-so-talented Chasen Richardson. The need for a true night fighter aircraft was well demonstrated during the Battle of Britain in 1940. Aircraft used to counter German night attacks were not very effective. At the direction of the Air Corp's Carl A. Spaatz, John Northrop submitted a ground up night fighter design, which, designated as the XP-61, first flew on May 26, 1942. The Black Widow was the first aircraft designed from the ground up as a night fighter. Its innovative slotted flaps and spoiler ailerons allowed operation from short airstrips and improved handling; the radar carried in its nose made it the dominant force in the night skies of Europe and the South Pacific. From July 6, 1944, when it claimed its first victory, to war's end, the P-61 distinguished itself as one of America's most unique fighting machines. After the war, P-61s were used in reconnaissance, weather research, and flight testing. The first American flight ejections were made from a P-61.
Only four P-61 aircraft are known to exist today.
