File Description:
This folder contains a second repaint for the A2A WoP3 P-51D Mustang, in the colors of P-51D-20 44-63272 “Bad Angelâ€, flown by Lt. Louis Curdes of the 4th Fighter Squadron, 3rd Air Commando Group. He is one of a very few American pilots to have kills against each of the three major Axis powers, and I believe the only US pilot to display an American flag among his victory markings.
While serving in the MTO, Curdes downed several Fw-190’s, and one of the Macchi C.202’s he downed is now on display at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC. He was shot down over Italy and spent a short time as a POW before escaping. Because he was an escaped POW, he couldn’t fly again against the Germans for security reasons.
He was transferred to the PTO, and on February 10, 1945, during a sweep to Bataan Island, he saw a P-51 pilot parachute into the sea. Curdes circled around him to pinpoint his position to rescuers. While circling, he saw a USAAF C-47 that was preparing to land on the Japanese-held strip on Batan. The C-47 crew didn’t respond to repeated attempts at radio contact and, unable to shepherd the C-47 to safety, Curdes saw only two possibilities – first that it was a Japanese plane bearing false US markings (the DC-3 having been built under licence in Japan prior to the war), or it was a US plane whose crew was unaware the field had fallen to the Japanese. He therefore carefully shot out both engines, causing the plane to land in the sea. All 13 people on board the C-47 were rescued – and they were indeed Americans, including a nurse Curdes had previously dated. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.

| Boeing 717 Panel |
|
File Description:
Call it DC9, MD80, 717 - whatever. This is/was a great little plane - as nimble as a regional jet - yet stable as a 757. Douglas flooded the market with these things while trying to unload MD11s in package deals. The MD11s are history (shame), but these boys are still flying high and strong. Almost all pilots jumping up to the majors flew these planes for years.
Admittedly, the old cockpits were a mess and you needed four eyes to keep track of the instruments. When the 717, or the first MD90 EHD came along, they had these glass gauges and it truly became a joy to fly these things. Now, Boeing has decided to discontinue production. Check out JCA website for some real nice 717s. Thanks to Ken Mitchell for his great MFD gauges.
Enjoy the panel and the aircraft before they become classics.

| Eastern Airlines Boeing 717-200 |

File Description:
Eastern Airlines B717-200. Eastern was a large operator of the DC-9 series and it's possible that had they survived they would be replacing them with 717s so here's a repaint of the gorgeous CSI 717 in Eastern's final scheme. A reminder that this aircraft was beautifully created by the guys over at CSI (http://avsim.com/csi/mainscreen.htm). Please refer to their website downloads section for a complete listing of their user agreement. Freeware developers put in a lot of hard work into designing their planes and they do a great job and provide it to us for free and the least we can do is support our fligtsim community and give credit where credit is due. I'm responsible only for the repaint of this aircraft, the model itself is 100% CSI. Hope you enjoy flying it. This is dedicated to my friends over at Virtual Eastern Airlines, join us now! http://www.eastern-va.com/.

| Modern Smoke Jumpers - Parafoils |
|
File Description:
Thought there might be some purists out there frowning at the previous round canopy. I have completely reworked the FX texture files to allow you to drop a number of yellow-clad smoke-jumpers in the traditional free-fall arch position from the DC-3, JU-52, DeHaviland Otter, and now the C-130. They now sport the modern parafoil chute rather than the older round canopy. Editing the included text insert (door location) for the aircraft.cfg file will allow them to jump from any other plane of your choosing as well.
I no longer have FS2002 so was unable to test this with that FS version.
I wish to thank Mr. Pierino Primavesi for his kind permission in allowing me to modify the FX files he made for his Luftwaffe version of the JU-52. Visit his site at: http://www.ju52-3m.ch/ for more of the latest updates for the Junkers JU-52. Payware quality for free. You can't go wrong.
