CYGQ - Geraldton - Northern Ontario, Canada * Updated * Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is my last scenery post; read the text note in the zip. This greatly modifies my previous (2009) post of Geraldton, and has more purpose-made buildings. The new version is stand-alone and does not require you to have previously installed Geraldton; it interacts with Dryden and Sioux Lookout for AI flights. Geraldton is in northern Ontario, 70 miles northeast of Thunder Bay and 50 miles east of Lake Nipigon. The town is on the northern shore of Kenogamisis Lake and strung out northwards to the east-west railway line. The population is around 2,400 and the origins are in mining. The airport is a further 3 miles or so north, just south of Hutchison Lake. CYGQ has just over 5,000' of asphalt aligned 08-26; I think there used to be a second runway in a similar arrangement to the one at Dryden, but that was long ago. At the eastern end of the runway there are hangars that turn their back on an irregularly-shaped and seemingly unplanned apron; this is because it was unplanned. There was a large addition made so that fire fighting CL 415 planes could be parked there in the summer, adjacent to tanks containing foam and chemical additivies. The AI (available with my Sioux Lookout and Dryden posts) includes CL 415 flights.

LFLJ - Courchevel, France Download

File Description:
This FSX scenery package contains the LFLJ Courchevel airport in the French Alps. The airport has a very short, upslope runway of only 525 m (1,722 ft). The airport is considered one of the seven most dangerous in the world. It has a difficult approach, a 300 foot upslope runway and is adjacent to the Courchevel ski runs. The Courchevel airport altitude is the highest in Europe, with a mean elevation of 6,520 feet. This airport is intended to be used with FSX and the free addon - TileProxy. TileProxy provides real-time photorealistic satellite imagery in place of the stock auto generated FSX scenery or any other scenery package. The Courchevel airport was originally released as part of an FSX airport scenery package containing 15 airports, located in the French Alps. The link to the original 15 French Alps Airport package is shown below. This file is not required, but allows you to download 15 related French Alps airports. The LFLJ, Courchevel airport in the original 15 airport package was missing a required scenery file which corrects the airport altitude (from 6420 ft. to 6520 ft.) due to the mis-location of the stock FSX airport. This download provides all three of the required .bgl scenery files. related download: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=french+alps+airports&CatID=root&Go=Search

Convair F-106 Delta Dart Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Convair F-106 Delta Dart. I present a comprehensive AI traffic model package for the last of the Century Series fighter aircraft, one of the backbones of Air Defense Command and Air National Guard squadrons from the late-1950s to late-1980s. The "Six" first flew in 1956, and over 300 of these aircraft served as strategic interceptors during the height of the Cold War. Late examples served until 1988, over thirty years after its introduction; and many were expended as target drones on live fire ranges. Additionally, the Six, in a last hurrah of sorts, was the dedicated chase aircraft for the B-1 bomber test flights, because of its speed, and low-cost as a "has-been" aircraft. An original 7-LOD model brings this historic aircraft to the flightsim world. This package is a complete representation of the F-106 through its entire career, in the service of the USAF as well as NASA. Models included are F-106A with early/late canopy, F-106B, and QF-106A/B manned and un-manned drones, with a total of 13 models and 70 repaints, to include over 30 individual squadron schemes. Original aircraft model, master textures, and all release repaints by Michael Pearson, flight dynamics by Michael MacIntyre. PLEASE READ THE DOCUMENTATION FOR RESEARCH DISCLAIMERS.

Alitalia "Carlo Goldoni" Airbus A320-216 (EI-EIE) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Alitalia Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A. operating as Alitalia, is the flag carrier and national airline of Italy, which took over the name, the landing rights, many planes and some other assets from the liquidation process of the old Alitalia Linee Aeree Italiane and the entire Air One. The company has its head office in Fiumicino, Italy. Its main hub is Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, Rome. Alitalia is Italy's biggest airline, and the world's 19th. The name "Alitalia" is an Italian portmanteau of the words ali (wings), and Italia (Italy).

Alitalia livery is painted on Project Airbus's Airbus A320-214 model (included). The textures are saved in 32bit format for quality graphics. Textures are also characterized by HD (High Definition). Its features are idle-reverser animation, animated pack vents and pressurisation outflow valve, detailed textures, accurate paint, dynamic shine & effects, dynamic flexing wings that respond to turbulence, fully independent suspension, trim animation, gear steering, accurate flight dynamics, spoiler animation, reflective cockpit windows, improved wingflex code with input from several new parameters including ground spoilers, fuel load, and angle of attack, transparent navigation light lenses and many more. Boeing B-52 Stratofortress (Part 8) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Boeing B-52 Stratofortress (Part 8). The B-52 first flew in 1952, the last one was built in 1961, and there are still over 90 of the original 744 airframes either in front-line service or in a ready-reserve status. With extensive avionics upgrades starting this year, the USAF plans on using the B-52s until 2045, 93 years after first flight. The aircraft has an impressive resume, having served in five shooting wars and was the backbone of Strategic Air Command's nuclear deterrent air component during almost forty years of Cold War service.

Jake Burrus started this AI traffic model a couple of years ago, and I was honored to pick up the project and get it across the finish line, with no small amount of help from Mike MacIntyre, as usual. This is a 7-LOD AI traffic model representing the Stratofortress in all of its operational service. This is part 8, showcasing the B-52G used in the 1991 Gulf War, with a full serial manifest, and including a total of 82 repaints. Also included are optional models for VFR traffic use. Aircraft model by Jake Burrus and Mike Pearson, master textures and repaints by Mike Pearson, flight dynamics by Mike MacIntyre. Please read the extensive documentation contained in the file.

Albian CAL4, Firebag CFG6, Horizon CYNR, Mildred Lake CER4, and Muskeg Tower CFW4 in Alberta Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
All of these airfields are in or close to the Athabasca Tar Sands in Alberta, modelled here along with the airfields. The tar sands workings extend along the Athabasca River for over 60 miles north of Fort McMurray in northern Alberta, and the huge cleared areas, surface mining, tailings ponds, and refineries along the Athabasca are right up there as Alberta's biggest VFR landmark. One look at a tailings pond (sea? ocean?) makes it clear that someone was worried about public reaction to the size. As well as the surface mining there are also large areas where there is underground extraction with a grid of dirt tracks between equipment installations. There are four airfields associated with the tar sands. Horizon CYNR is a public service airport operated by Canadian Natural Reources Ltd. Mildred Lake CER4 is owned and operated by Syncrude. Albian CAL4 is owned and operated by Shell Canada, and Firebag CFG6 is owned and operated by Suncor Energy. The fifth airfield is the nearby Muskeg Tower CFW4, which is there solely to support folks during their fire watch in the 120 feet tall tower. There is also a sixth airfield east of Horizon across the river and still visible, Bitumount; this is no longer in use. There is Ai included involving Canadian North, North Cariboo, Wasaya, HTS, First Air, Suncor, etc.
