MYXY - Duncan Town, Ragged Island Chain, Bahamas - Version 2 Download

File Description:
The Ragged Island Chain consists of a string of small islands in the Bahamas. Only one island, Ragged Island, has a settlement on it which is known as Duncan Town. This FSX scenery improves the airstrip at Duncan Town and creates a new private airstrip on Nurse Cay. The airstrip at MYXY (Duncan Town) has been lengthened by 500 feet and widened by 25 feet. Six parking ramps now exist as well as a fuel pump and helipad. Additional taxiways have been added and lights for the runway, taxiways and apron. A small building has been added to serve as a combined terminal, control tower, and customs office. There is also a hangar to protect your plane from tropical storms. These improvements were necessary to accomodate the increased air traffic due to the new high rise tropical hotel, the Ragged Island Resort. There is also a lighthouse on the island and a cruise ship with helipad just off to the east. A large private yacht just to the north also has a helipad. You can watch dolphins swim at both of those locations - the helipads make great viewing spots. About 20 miles north of Ragged Island is Nurse Cay (MYXN). This is where my private airstrip and villa are located. The airstrip has a 2500 ft concrete runway and a parallel taxiway as well as a helipad. The runway, taxiways, and apron are all lit for night operations. The airstrip was built right on a marsh so wandering off the runway or taxiways could result in getting wet. You will find a variety of birds flying around at various locations throughout this scenery. A flight plan is also included for a dusk flight from Ragged Island (MYXY) to Nurse Cay (MYXN). So come on out to Ragged Island, because it's better in the Bahamas! This is version 2 and supercedes my original file - this version corrects the runway numbers at MYXN.

You can fly the spitfire mk.Vb/c, Spitfire mk.IXe LF/HF and Spitfire Mk.XVIe LF. Greece in 9/23/1938 ordered 12 Spitfires and 12 Anson. During the June of 1939 it was signed the order of 24 Spitfires which cost 9335 pounds each. When Hitler attacked to Poland, England used all the aircrafts that were under construction and of course the Greek were some of them. On 10/12/1943, the 336th Olympus Squadron received the first Spitfire and followed the 335th Tiger Squadron. The Spitfire mk.Vb/c replaced the Hurricane mk.IIb/c. When the two greek Squadrons were at North Africa, their Spitfires wore the , but when they moved to Italy, their Spitfires change to . The formal receival of them from Greece took place at Araxos AB LGRX on 11-14-1944. The war hadn’t finished yet and Hellas wasn’t free, so the Spitfires were used in battles for Milos’ and Crete‘s freedom. In the end of 1945, RHAF, now HAF, stoped being depended on RAF and the mk.Vb/c were given to Greece on 4/25/1946. In January of 1947 were delivered the Spitfires mk.IXe LF and HF (Low Flying and High Flying). The mk.Vb/c now were used in the new pilots’ training and a new Squadron was created because of the large number of the mk.IX. The name of the new Squadron was 337th Phantom Squadron . On the February of 1949, were delivered the new Spitfires mk.XVIe LF. At the end of their careers, the mk.IX and mk.XVI were used as advanced training aircrafts. LYPG Podgorica Airport, Montenegro Download

File Description:
Podgorica Airport (IATA: TGD, ICAO: LYPG) is an international airport located 11 km (6.8 mi) south of Podgorica, Montenegro. It is the main hub for Montenegro Airlines.
It is one of two public airports in Montenegro, the other being Tivat Airport. Both are operated by the state-owned company Airports of Montenegro. The airport is sometimes called Golubovci Airport by the locals, as the town of Golubovci is in close proximity. Airports Council International awarded Podgorica the best airport under 1 million passengers in 2007.
The IATA code of the airport is still TGD because Podgorica was named Titograd (after Josip Broz Tito) from 1946 to 1992, during which time the airport opened. The airport handles domestic flights within Montenegro as well as international flights. As Montenegro's two main airports are merely 80 km apart, there are no regular passenger domestic flights. Domestic flights have been reduced to charter flights and general aviation, and all scheduled traffic is international.

There are daily scheduled flights to various European destinations. During the summer season, there are many charter flights and air connections to various major cities in the world. The flight to Belgrade airport has traditionally accounted for majority of the traffic at the airport, but the percentage is decreasing.
VIP and taxi airlines Vektra Aviation, Di Air and OKI Air are based at the airport. Serbian VIP airlines Air Pink and Prince Aviation also use the airport. Podgorica Airport served 538,477 passengers in 2008. However, due to global economic downturn, passenger numbers declined to 450,504 in 2009. In 2010, strong growth was recorded, so numbers passed the 600,000 mark. Thanks to Serbia And Montenegro Virtual Area Control Center for the airport charts.

This file has the right coordinates, with the apron and characteristics of the airport, airport vehicles and buildings, also it is set to the correct altitude of 126 feet or 38 meters.

Coal Harbour CAQ3 float base in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is number eight in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC. Coal Harbour is in a sheltered cove off Holberg Inlet on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, close to the village and 10 miles southwest of the Port Hardy float base. There is 100LL fuel and oil available. Due to the deep fjords that run into Vancouver Island from the west coast Coal Harbour is actually closer to the east coast than it is to the west coast. The tortuous route in through Quatsino Sound and Rupert Sound shelters the waters of Holberg Inlet from the stormy seas of the west coast, and fishing boats take advantage of this. The floatplane dock is to the south of the large (and old) hangar, adjacent to the southern end of the fixed dock where the ramp bridge descends to the floating docks. The video makes it clearer. The AI is a further adaptation of the CF36 AI and involves Beavers and Otters as listed in the AI folder. Due to the surrounding hills there may be some interference with AI aircraft, depending on the wind direction, though I have watched succesful Beaver and Otter landings. Amid the hills there is a very large hole in the ground to the east. The village name suggests it may have been for coal but though in fact there was a coal mine, that was a much smaller and unsuccesful venture; this particular scene of enthusiastic digging was for copper, until 1996. The main claim to fame of Coal Harbour was that it was the last whaling station in North America, using the buildings that were part of the RCAF float plane patrol base during WW2. One downloader reported a texture problem with Port McNeill, to which we found a solution. As he was the only person to email me I am going to presume that nobody else had the problem.

8AK7 - Bullen Point - Alaska North Slope 7 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The town of Barrow is in the far north of Alaska, and these are coastal villages or radar installations to the west, south, and now east of Barrow. There will be further additions. Bullen Point is a DEW station Air Force base 240 miles east of Barrow and 75 miles east of Oliktok. The runway is just under 4,000 feet of gravel and aligned 05-23; this is approximately at right angles to the default FS9 alignment and how that came about is something I doubt Bill Gates could explain. Most of the DEW buildings have now been removed (including the large hangar, which is unusual) but as I had a layout I made the whole site as it was originally, way back in the days when the north slope was still a wilderness. The AI is one day a C-130, on another a Cessna, and on a third a DC3. When I started this North Slope series it was my intention to create the full monty and make all the oil and gas installations and Deadhorse airport etc. I have come to realise that the oil side is impossible to make. There is so much of it and each bit is as time consuming as Heathrow while the actual airfields are more like Rockcliffe CYRO, so a lot of effort for what is just background to an adjoining airfield. But at the same time, if I make the new airstrips it is impossible NOT to make the oil installations as they are the dominating feature. So no new airstrips, and this is going to be just the 1960's or 1970's, when the oil business was only exploratory and the airfields were for villages or DEW stations, and Harmon Helmerick had his dirt strip on the Colville River estuary and was guiding hunters and fishermen and had just started to help out Sinclair Oil with oil exploration in 1966. Read his book. Download my previous post of his field.

American Airlines Boeing 787-900 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The Boeing 787 is one of the most sophisticated aircraft ever designed, and I have worked on several FS models from even before the real aircraft was ever built. I have accumulated so much data relating to this plane that I can now incorporate real world dynamics for it based on extremely realistic information. The aircraft offered here has been modified to offer all of that realism. In the real world, the 787 is flown primarily with autopilot controls, and this model is no different. It doesn't take a lot to fly this plane, and if I were to be offered the challenge I think I'd be up and flying within a few minutes, in a real 787. Because of this, I offer no advise other than normal flight rules. If you are new to FSX, please learn through the on-board tutorials. I am not a tutor. I do not have anything to do with cosmetics. I do not design panels. All I do is help educate you about the realism of aircraft design. You can look at the aircraft.cfg and the .air file (Airfile Editor Required) to see what I've done in comparison to the original model, but I will not really help you with tutorial related issues. If you find something you think is wrong, let me know. Otherwise, enjoy this model and fly her like the real thing. Everything I've done here is for educational purposes without any expectation of any monetary gain, and offered publicly for free. What I offer here is protected by the Fair Use Doctrine of International Copyright Law, and you are free to study this as follows: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/107 All persons involved with this and the original design are credited, unless they are unknown and have offered no credit details. Bethel area airfields in southwest Alaska close to the Yukon River Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This presumes you have already installed my post of Bethel PABE. In the Yukon River area of Alaska there are a lot of small villages close together, which is unusual for Alaska. Almost all of them are on the coast or a river bank, and the local economies depend on fishing. Some are larger than others and have a fish processing plant, such as in Emmonak. This is the largest such plant and it exports prepared fish by cargo planes which fly in on a daily basis, using an extended runway. This post includes airfields to the south and west of PABE, 17 of them; some of them already included and now modified. There will be more airfields to the north and northwest of Bethel in a future post. There are revisions to Bethel to include parking spaces for Yute Air (newly included here) and extra spaces for Ryan Air. Both of these flew Cessna 205 planes into the smaller village strips from Bethel (past tense as Yute Air recently went bankrupt). The northwest area is served both from Bethel and also from St Mary's PASM, which is in the northwest and at a more economical range to the local airfields (100 miles closer than Bethel). These smaller airfields have few airfield buildings or any other creature comforts; featuring heavily are a new standard blue garage building (sometimes not yet installed) and a small and old terminal shed (that has sometimes collapsed and been removed). Go to "http://vfrmap.com/" for free vfr maps of the area, There is a pic of the local chart area included here. The screenshots are a random sample. Kipnuk PAKI is the one that appears to have a second and long grass runway; what it actually has is the ground prepared for a new and long gravel runway but which hasn't been started yet as it has taken 10 years just to prepare the ground. I have no idea why.

St Michael Island in Alaska-St Michael 5S8 and Stebbins WBB Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
St Michael Island is 50 miles southwest of Unalakleet, an island that in fact appears to be a cape and a firmly attached piece of the mainland. On the island there are two villages, St Michael on the northeast corner and Stebbins on the northwest. St Michael has a new airfield that is west of the village by around a mile or so, with a gravel runway 4,000 feet long. The old and now closed airport was known as SMK, and is now readily identifiable by the new red-roofed school building that occupies the centre of the runway. The new airfield now has an icao code of PAMK, but FS9 does not readily accept icao code changes so we are stuck with the original code it was given, 5S8. The SMK icao of the old airport will still show on your gps as if I deleted it the runway would also have to be deleted, and a substitute and unsatisfactory gravel apron made to impersonate a runway. Stebbins is 5 miles west of St Michael and next to the shore, a smaller village than St Michael with around 250 inhabitants. The airfield is at the southern end of the village and has a gravel runway that is 3,000 feet long. The icao code is WBB. There is no AI included here as it was already included in the post of Shaktoolik. There is a correction here for Shaktoolik, which I now find should have had a blue garage, not a red one; I wrongly named a photo. A note here about my scenery making. This is post number 501 and there will not be many more to follow this as I am almost at the end of the photos I took or found for scenery purposes. There is a limit to what can be located online and I have already been making use of the little there is; eg Unalakleet. So, if you are near an airfield (preferably Canadian or Alaskan) and have a camera..... Let me know.

Iles de la Madeleine CYGR in Quebec Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The Iles de la Madeleine are a group of spit islands linked by bridges in the Gulf of St Lawrence. They are east of New Brunswick, north of Cape Breton Island, west of the Island of Newfoundland, and south of the mainland coast of Quebec. On a southwest to northeast axis they are 40 miles in length and the airport CYGR is pretty much at the midpoint of the southern line of islands. Take a look at the overhead from FS9 to see what I mean. CYGR has two runways, one is aligned 08-26 and is just under 4,400 feet long and 150 feet wide with lighting and PAPI at both ends. The second is aligned 16-34 and is 3,600 feet long and 150 feet wide, without lights or PAPI. Both are asphalt. The apron is not huge, and a newish (in 2010) hangar was built with separate access to the 16-34 runway. There are daily flights by Air Canada and Pascan Aviation included in the AI. The AI also includes some boats and a ferry, and I first used these with my Dutch Harbor scenery, so if you have that already.... This scenery also includes Cindy Hook, a small boat harbour just 2 miles southwest of the airport, and the larger harbour at Cap aux Meules a further 3 miles away that accommodates the daily ferry trips, along with fishing boats etc. Also included here is a further addition to the Homer PAHO scenery in the shape of a boat that is included in the Homer Spit harbour. Just add the contents of the scenery folder to the Homer scenery folder of your Homer installation, and the texture folder contents to the Homer texture folder. This is hopefully the last PAHO addition, and again apologies. If you find an error email me please, and note that my email address has been changed to rogwens at Gmail dot com.

Boeing B-17G 91st BG (OR-R) 'Nine O Nine' Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-30-BO 'Nine o nine". Nine-O-Nine was a Boeing B-17G-30-BO Flying Fortress heavy bomber, of the 323rd Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, that completed 140 combat missions during World War II, believed to be the Eighth Air Force record for most missions, without loss to the crews that flew it. The original aircraft, a block 30 B-17G manufactured by Boeing, was nicknamed after the last three digits of her serial number: 42-31909. Nine-0-Nine was added to the USAAF inventory on December 15, 1943, and flown overseas on February 5, 1944. After depot modifications, she was delivered to the 91st BG at RAF Bassingbourn, England, on February 24, 1944, as a replacement aircraft, one of the last B-17s received in factory-applied camouflage paint. A former navigator of the 91st BG, Marion Havelaar, reported in his history of the group that Nine-O-Nine completed either 126 or 132 consecutive missions without aborting for mechanical reasons, also believed to be a record. M/Sgt. Rollin L. Davis, maintenance line chief of the bomber, received the Bronze Star for his role in achieving the record. Her first bombing raid was on Augsburg, Germany, on February 25, 1944. She made 18 bombing raids on Berlin. In all she flew 1,129 hours and dropped 562,000 pounds of bombs. She had 21 engine changes, four wing panel changes, 15 main gas tank changes, and 18 changes of Tokyo tanks (long-range fuel tanks). After the hostilities ceased in Europe, Nine-O-Nine was returned to the United States on June 8, 1945, and was consigned to the RFC facility at Kingman, Arizona on December 7, 1945, and eventually scrapped. B-17G-85-DL, 44-83575, civil registration N93012, owned and flown by The Collings Foundation, Stow, Massachusetts, flew marked as the historic Nine-O-Nine until its crash on the 2nd of October 2019.
