Alaska North Slope 6; Oliktok POLI Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Oliktok is a DEW station Air Force base to the east of the Colville River delta, 160 miles east of Barrow and 12 miles from Harmon Helmericks house and dirt strip in the delta on Anachlik Island. (See my previous post, made after reading his book about northern Alaska flying). The runway is just over 4,000 feet of gravel and aligned 03-21. The large hangar is still there, and so are the majority of the DEW buildings closer to the beach. There are now also some oil production facilities and living quarters nearby on the point, but these are not included in this scenery as to make them convincingly (and there is no point in making them unconvincingly!) would be 100+ times as laborious as making the airstrip. And as Sid has memorably said, "If you can't taxi up to it, then xxxx it". So this scenery is dated way before the north slope was changed from a wilderness to an industrial complex. The AI is one day a C-130, on another a Cessna, and on a third a Reeve Aleutian DC-6B.

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 Fishbed (Part 6) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 Fishbed (Part 6). I present a comprehensive AI traffic model package for this iconic aircraft of modern military history. With over 15,000 airframes of all types, including license-manufacture, the MiG-21 is the second-highest produced jet fighter of all time (next to the MiG-15 at 18,000+); and is the highest-produced jet fighter in the post-1960 'missile' age.

The model is an 8-LOD model, with quite a bit of XML animation and effects. This aircraft has been used operationally by 53 countries across fifty years, with extensive combat experience world-wide, and hundreds are still in service to this day.

Part 6 is dedicated to modernized or MLU (mid-life-upgrade) aircraft. Variants included are the MiG-21 Bison from India; the MiG-21MF/UM LanceR A/B/C from Romania; and the MiG-21bis-D and MiG-21UMD from Croatia. With loadout options, there are a total of 52 models and 52 paints in this package. Multiple credits are given in the documentation for everybody who pitched in to help on this one. Base model, paint kit, and textures by Michael Pearson.

World GA Traffic Download

File Description:
These AI flight plan files have been created as a replacement to (NOT an addition to) the default Microsoft FS2004 GA flight plans. If you already use proper AI flight plans for commercial traffic, this is ideal for you. The default flight plans, as many know, are far from realistic as traffic just flies back and forth between two airports at regular intervals throughout each 24-hour day. These replacement plans are far more realistic in that: a) Aircraft keep flying to different airports throughout the day, returning home in the evening. b) Each aircraft flies to different destinations on different days of the week, c) Evening flights are substantially reduced, d) Night flights are minimal, and e) Appropriate country-based tail numbers are used. The flights comprise a total of 25389 aircraft, flying to 5520 different airfields. There are no circuits or touch and go flights to hamper your landing. They use only the MS default aircraft and fly to and from the default GA airports in FS2004. The only vintage aircraft included in these plans are DC-3s and Piper Cubs. RAF Keevil Download

File Description:
The airfield was built on a site previously ear-marked for the purpose in the mid-1930s. Consisting of 3 long concrete runways the airfield was used by the Royal Air Force and the United States Army Air Forces Eighth and Ninth Air Forces. In 1942 Keevil airfield was provided to the USAAF and it was assigned USAAF designation 471 (KV). Squadrons based at the unit transported military freight and supplies using C-47 and C-53 aircraft. RAF Fighter Command use Short Stirlings of Nos. 196 and 299 Squadrons RAF lining the runway at RAF Keevil on the evening of 5 June 1944 before emplaning paratroops of the 5th Parachute Brigade Group for the invasion of Normandy With the departure of the Americans, the RAF used Keevil beginning in March 1944 for 196 and 299 Squadron Short Stirling glider tugs of No. 38 Group RAF arrived followed by a large number of Horsa gliders, crewed by Army pilots of the Glider Pilot Regiment. The RAF Stirling aircraft were crewed by RAF, RCAF, RAAF, RNZAF and SAAF personnel and were engaged in SOE and SAS drops. largely in France, and in glider towing. Their involvement in the Normandy invasion of France and Operation Market-Garden is well remembered by Keevil and Steeple Ashton villagers. Casualties of army and air force personnel were heavy and a number of aircraft were lost. With the end of military control, Keevil airfield is virtually complete with all of its runways, perimeter track and many of the hardstands still in place. It is used occasionally for British Army and RAF exercises. The airfield is still frequently used by the RAF for training purposes such as air drops and parachuting, the gate is always locked and access is restricted to authorized key holders only. Ref ~ http://www.wdrcfc.org.uk/wp/about-2/clubrules/ Since 1992 it has been home to the Bannerdown Gliding Club, an RAF Gliding and Soaring Association Club, affiliated to RAF Brize Norton since the closure of nearby RAF station at Lyneham. The airfield is also used as a motorsport circuit for various events. It is also the home of the Warminster and District Radio Control flying club. In September 1994 the Keevil Society, organised by Paul Vingoe, held a Commemorative Day to mark the 50th anniversary of the D-Day and Arnhem operations and to dedicate a memorial to all who served at Keevil, especially those who flew from there and lost their lives. PAKT - Ketchikan airport - Ketchikan, Alaska - USA Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This AFCAD requires payware "Ultimate Terrain Alaska X"!! It will not work without it as it is built on the underlying terrain features and the included file "PAKT_AP.BGL" which has to be renamed or moved to a folder outside the FSX terrain environment. The original file included some errors which I tried to correct. This patch is published with permission.

Changes: The apron layout is corrected including now taxiway "C" leading to GA parking. The pavement has been changed to asphalt as it appears to be when taking aerial pictures as template. The runway got the proper overruns at both sides and the position of the ILS glideslope and localizer has been corrected as well as the DME. The layout of the airport building arrangement including the tower should be now closer to the real world and I added a working jetway. However, I used FSX default objects. As I was dependent on quite rare layout information I just tried to adjust the taxi paths and parking spots probably closer to the reality than before but I did not put any effort to name the parking spots like in real life nor did I take care for taxi signs (only the runway entries got such).

Pilatus PC-6C KLU, ISAF, Tarin kowt, Afghanistan, 2009 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Pilatus PC-6C H2 Turbo Porter for FSX by Tim Conrad in a Royal Netherlands Air Force livery. The PC-6C Turbo Porter has been an amazing contribution to the STOL aircraft fleet around the world for decades. It's robust airframe and excellent aerodynamics make the plane very popular for para-drops, but also for supply missions in remote area's throughout the globe. Despite it's age the aircraft is still widely in use. This repaint represents a "what-if" RNLAF PC-6C in 336 Sqn colours. 336 Sqn has been a Dutch Antilles based Air Force MARPAT unit operating F-27MPA's. Currently the Sqn operates four C-130's from Eindhoven AB, with a new Sqn logo. This PC-6C is (fictional) operated by 2 ULF (Utility and Liaison Flight), 336 Sqn. The flight is designated to operate anywhere in the world. This livery resembles a unit operating from Tarin kowt (Tereen (OATN)), Uruzgan, Afghanistan 2009 under ISAF mandate, and in support of the Dutch Task force Uruzgan, Tarin Kowt, 2009. The aircraft shares the same registration as my previous livery (PC-6C_KLU.zip), but weathered, tone-down grey and 37 years later. You need the excellent freeware PC-6C H2 Turbo Porter by Tim Conrad in order to use this repaint. Enjoy!
