1960 - Delivery flight of Viscount VH-RMK - Omaha to Melbourne, the long way round.

File Description:
This FS2004 (FS9) flight replicates the route taken by Ansett-ANA's Viscount VH-RMK (previously Continental Airlines' N241V) when it was delivered - by an Ansett crew - from Omaha, Nebraska to Essendon airport, Melbourne. The crew consisted of Cpt. C. Lister (in command), Cpt. D. Bull, First Officer J. Farrell, Navigator W. Kennedy and Flt. Engineer J. Howard. The flight commenced on the morning of September 17th. 1960 and took 12 days, the route being across the continental United States to Chicago, thence to Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, UAR, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Phillipines, Indonesia and finally Australia. You may wonder why they took the "long way round" rather than ferry the aircraft across the Pacific route: very simply, the Viscount did not have the range required to safely transit the distances between the only refuelling points available down through the Pacific Ocean. A ReadMe with the simple installation instructions and historical information is included.

FAA Douglas DC-4A (EC-54D)

File Description:
FAA Douglas DC-4A (EC-54D) Reg. ID N87, msn 22187, ex U.S. Army Air Force Douglas C-54D-15-DO Skymaster. Flight inspection aircraft of U.S. Federal Aviation Agency (1959-1967) in colors of 1963. Used as a calibrator for international flight inspection when checking and calibration navaids and instrument procedures, including ILS, VOR, DME, TACAN, NDB, various radars and airports. This repaint is dedicated to James E. Creed (+2001), who between 1956 and 1975 was a flight inspection pilot at CAA/FAA and later chief of FAA's flight inspection offices in Japan (Tokyo/Tachikawa) and Germany (Frankfurt/ Rhine-Main-office). Although Jim type rated in many aircraft the DC-4 was his favorite. His last DC-4 flights were with aircraft registered N87 on July 18/19/20 in 1963. Textures only. Transavia.com Boeing 737-800 "BWIA Hybrid"

File Description:
PH-HSX (c/n 28225/433). This repaint features the Transavia.com bird that was leased from BWIA/Caribbean Airlines during the 2007 summer period. I included allot of dirt, wear and usage markings on this repaint just to let it be as realistic as it can be. Transavia.com is a Dutch airline wich was formed from two existing airlines, Transavia and Basiqair.com (Basiqair being the LCC from that time and Transavia the "normal" carrier) they fly to a big part of the holliday destinations using Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft. In the summer periods they mostly lease extra planes to handle the busy summer period, in the past they leased planes from South African Airways, Spicejet and Sun Country (In the winter periods they lease out some of their material to them). The homebases of Transavia.com are Amsterdam-Schiphol (EHAM), Rotterdam-Zestienhoven (EHRD) and Eindhoven AB (EHEH) in the Netherlands. I wish you many pleasant flights with this beautiful repaint!
