Kimmirut is a village of some 400 folks at the southern end of the southwest-facing coast of Baffin Island, 75 miles southwest of Iqaluit. It is on the northern side of the Hudson Strait between Baffin Island and Quebec, opposite Kangiqsujuaq on the Quebec shore. The airfield is served by two flights per week, one on Monday and another on Friday, only half fueled to be able to use the 1,899' of gravel 75' wide runway. The terminal building is small and there is a garage building for airport maintenance vehicles (snow clearing). There are some nearby buildings that I have included. The village is "represented" (not "modeled") with approximately the right shape and road layout. Take enough fuel so that you can leave again, as fuel is no longer for sale here. The Cape Dyer bgls are to make a small correction, it is explained in the text. I will not be posting new sceneries in the future and this is the last one for Avsim; it completes Baffin Island.

| Lauriston TGPZ on Carriacou Island in the Caribbean |

File Description:
Canrriacou Island, though part of the Grenadines geographically, is south of the island chain known politically as St Vincent and the Grenadines, and with Petite Martinique is a dependency of Grenada. Carriacou is around 7 miles long and 2 miles wide, with a resident population of perhaps 5,000. Lauriston airport is at the southwest end of the island, on the north coast, and the runway is around 2,600 feet and aligned 09/27. There are connecting flights both north and south to the other islands by SVG and LIAT. The terminal is stucco and pastel colours and not exactly new. The airport apron is tight. This is the last of my Caribbean series made for default FS9.

AI Tall Ships sailing on Long Island Sound - A gathering of ten vintage AI Sailing Ships near Fisher's Island, New York. This scenery features incredibly detailed AI Sailing Ships modeled by Ron Jeffers, Pierre de Rotalier and Mike Hill. The project includes a replica of the Pequod - Captain Ahab's whaling ship in the epic novel "Moby Dick". Eight of the ten ships make twice daily trips around Fisher's Island. There is also an animated naval rowboat which makes short demonstration runs daily. With one exception, all required files are included. This scenery has been tested with Ultimate Terrain and the FS2004 default environment. Please unzip to a temporary folder and follow the simple, illustrated instructions. Then sit back, watch the seas come to life and relive a little history. This package works very well with John B.Loney's Elizabeth Airport - 0b8_v1.zip - available here. Compiled for your flying (and sailing) enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall.

File Description:
Grenada island is 17 miles south of the southernmost island of the Grenadines, Carriacou; there are some smaller islands between the two. Grenada is 18 miles long and around 8 miles wide, has an estimated population of 110,000, and produces a very large part of the world's annual nutmeg harvest. The capital, St Georges, is by far the largest town and is at the southern end of the island, with the airport close by.
The airport is now called Maurice Bishop, but for some years was called Point Salines. The runway is just over 9,000 feet long and oriented 10/28. Point Salines replaced Pearl Airport, which is on the east coast 12 miles northeast of St Georges and was difficult to expand as the runway had mountains at one end and the sea at the other. Pearl is now closed; it is included here but only as a visual landmark with "closed" markings. There are regular international flights from North America and Europe, some of which are seasonal only (Air Canada for instance) and local connecting flights by LIAT and SVG. I retained the default control tower as it is some distance away. In real life it is also some distance away and on a hill northwest of the terminal. Which is why I did not take photos from which I would have made the real one. The hill does not feature in FS9.

| Aasiaat BGAA on the west coast of Greenland |

I wrote that Qikiqtarjuaq, on the east coast of Baffin Island, was the jumping off airfield for ferry flights for small planes from Canada to Europe via Greenland. Aasiaat is the airfield in Greenland that they jump to, 300 miles across the Davis Strait. The airfield is on the northern coast of Aasiaat Island, and the town of the same name is just two miles to the west. The runway is 2,600 feet of asphalt almost 100 feet wide and lit, at 74 feet ASL, aligned 12/30, with the apron and terminal building at the western end. Air Greenland run regular flights with a Dash-7 or 8, & Twin Otters, and the markings for the taxiway and parking spot in front of the terminal are exactly as they were six years ago. I have seen video since then that has further taxiway and parking spot markings added in, but I like the simplicity of the original. Unfortunately, given the limitations of FS and the single runway and simple taxiway routing there was no way to replicate both the parking facing away from the terminal AND the "through" taxiing to complete the circle back to the runway; after parking correctly the AI Air Greenland Dash-8 will reverse before heading out to take off. There is both JetA and 100LL fuel available. The surrounding area is rocky, and there is no grass around the runway; the airfield has compacted gravel instead.

| Sisimiut (BGSS) on the west coast of Greenland |

File Description:
Sisimiut is on the west coast of Greenland. It is around 125 miles south of Aasiaat, and 80 miles west of Kangerlussuaq airport, which is currently the largest commercial airfield in Greenland. Sisimiut has a population of 5,500 and the main occupations are fishing, tourism, education, and a growing industrial base. It has the northernmost year-round ice-free port in Greenland, though icebergs floating down from the north are commonplace. The airport is across a bridge and along a two mile road on the north side of an inlet, northwest of the town. The runway is 2,600+ feet of asphalt almost 100 feet wide and lit, aligned 20/02 and at 33 feet ASL, with the apron and terminal building at the eastern end. The building is identical to the one at Aasiaat. Air Greenland run regular flights with a Dash-8, Dash-7, or Twin Otters; within FS9 it is impossible to land an Ai Dash-7 on a runway less than 3,000 feet long, so I used a Dash-8. There was no way to replicate both the parking facing away from the terminal AND the "through" taxiing to complete the circle back to the runway; after parking correctly the AI Air Greenland plane will reverse before heading out to take off. The surrounding area is rock with some scruffy grass and low bushes, and there is no grass around the runway; the airfield has compacted gravel instead.
