KOAK - Metro Oakland Intl Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a reasonably accurate and up-to-date version of Metro Oakland Intl airport with two optional files and made only for FSX users, do not use in P3D: There is one version with the Crosswind runways operating where all 4 runways will be used for takeoff/landing and one version as the default airport runway operation. This update removes the "jfk jetways" mainly for those who have had issues installing the textures to get these Jetway to display, these have now been replaced by Jetway extensions that are more like the real world, Terminals 1 and 2 rebuilt with something better than the stock airport, assigned parking as per their website with extra parking, the Fedex and UPS ramps and buildings replaced, all taxiways and taxi signs updated to the latest charts, support vehicle roads rebuilt, extra fuel trucks, Helipad added to the GA apron and many other scenery improvements and objects added, airport views are from inside the control tower (when in tower view) please view the readme before installation.

Consolidated B-24D Liberator RAF (BZ862) 160 Sqn J Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Consolidated B-24D by Flight Replicas, adapted for use in P3Dv5. It shows B-24D-10-Cf 42-62885 BZ862 of the RAF. Arrived in the UK in 1943, it was flown to Karachi, arriving there in August 1943. It first flew with 354 Sqn with serial A, before going to 160 Sqn as J. It was based in Minneriya, in present-day Sri Lanka and was used for long distance mine-laying operations. For this, they removed all extra weight and installed three additional tanks in the forward bomb-bay. This aircraft flew a sortie to southern Malaya to drop two British officers near the Kota Tinggi/Johore road on 31-7/1-8-1945, captained by Flt Lt J A Muir RCAF, and was airborne for 24 hrs 10 mins, the longest unrefuelled flight ever made by any Allied landplane in World War II; the distance flown was 3,735 mls (6,013 km). Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Flight Replicas.

Challenging Approach: Innsbruck, Austria, LOWI Download

File Description:
This is the first in a series of missions on challenging approaches and landings. The mission begins with you are approaching SBG VOR, enroute to Innsbruck, Austria, LOWI. As you approach Rattenberg NDB, ATC commands 200 KIAS and 9500' to intercept RTT (Goal 1). You are also advised to enter a holding pattern at RTT, your fix, to allow time for snow removal from the runway. The pattern is standard right-hand turns with 1.5 minute legs and 200 knots at 9500'. The inbound track is 226°, while outbound is 46°. Winds are high, so you will have to compensate to stay aligned in the pattern and certify (Goal 2). Next up is to achieve a stabilized approach on the steep glide slope to runway 25 as Goal 2. The final goal is a safe full stop landing on runway 26 at elevation 1894' The descent is near 4° gradient and the runway VOR (111.1) is offset to the right, thus the “challenge”. Complete all three goals and you certify to fly to LOWI and receive a Reward.

CYYH - Taloyoak - Nunavut, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Taloyoak is on the coast of northern mainland Canada, on the west of the Boothia Peninsula, where it is at it's narrowest. Gjoa Haven is 80 miles southwest, and Hall Beach is 300 miles to the east. Taloyoak was established around a Hudson Bay trading post that was relocated from Fort Ross in 1948 because of poor ice conditions. There is now a clinic, school, church, recreation centre, two markets, two small hotels, and housing for the population of around 900. The airfield is to the west of the village on higher ground at 92 feet asl, and the 4,020 feet of 100 feet wide gravel runway is aligned 151T/331T where T stands for "true" as opposed to magnetic in the Northern Domestic Airspace. Only JETA-1 is available, unless there is some 100LL in drums. There are flights by First Air and Canadian North and the AI includes a daily flight of each, plus an afternoon cargo visit by a Buffalo C46; the closest large city is Yellowknife, 750 miles southwest.

SAWH-Ushuaia International Airport-Argentina Download

File Description:
Ushuaia International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Ushuaia) (IATA: USH, ICAO: SAWH) is located 4 km (2.5 mi) south[1] of the center of Ushuaia, a city on the island of Tierra del Fuego in the Tierra del Fuego Province of Argentina.Ushuaia International Airport is fit to receive airplanes as large as the Boeing 747. Tower Air used to operate such types into the airport, and Aerolineas Argentinas operated 747-400s into the airport during events of high passenger numbers (such as entire cruise-ship passenger payloads) until retiring this aircraft type in February, 2012. Two chartered Air France Concordes also visited in the past: F-BTSD arriving from Buenos Aires and continuing to Santiago, Chile, in early 1999; the second arriving from Easter Island, Chile and continuing to Buenos Aires prior to the cessation of most Concorde charter flights on July 25, 2000. Condor and LTU also offered charter flights from Germany and First Choice Airways from the United Kingdom. It also offers charter flights to Maputo, Mozambique. This work is dedicate to Tiziano Fiori who lives in Trelew.

Cubana Airlines Yak-42D (CU-T 1243) Version 2 Download

File Description:
I originally released this repaint in early April 2007. Although the result was nice, there was room for improvement. So after getting valuable feedback from some fellow simmers and deciding the colors of my original repaint did not match most of the Cubana AI aircraft, I decided to redo my original repaint of this spectacular model and release it as a Version 2. So here it is; V2. The following are the changes/improvements in this version; (1) closer color matching to actual Cubana livery and (most) Cubana AI aircraft, (2) improved over and under wing registration textures, (3) corrected tail texture (missing 2nd white stripe), (4) repositioned Cuban flag on the forward section of the fuse, (5) changed font of the tail registration, and (6) changed the wheel colors to be whiter as on the real bird. As with my original, this is a "textures only" package, you must have the Lviv Yak42 Group & Samdim Design Yak-42 base package available here at AVSIM. These are detailed 32-bit textures.

DX10 Shader Fixers V3.2.3 Download

File Description:
DX10 Shader Fixes V3.2.3. These are a set of shader fixes for DX10 Preview mode in FSX. The patch should not effect DX9 in any way. It addresses the following bugs in the DX10 preview:

1) Flashing runways/taxiways
2) Yellow/white runway markings transparency
3) Opaque chain fences
4) Progressive Taxi markings missing
5) Missing night scenery/semi-transparent dusk scenery (often misdescribed as missing night textures)
6) Some addon cars with black headlights
7) Softer VC shadow
8) Eliminates false sun on VC roof and side wall
9) ORBX FTX Global lights with black background rectangles fixed

Also included are an optional replacement water shade, aircraft lights package and an optional replacement background texture. This can replace the light blue DX10 uses and is close to what DX9 uses in the same circumstances.

With Steve Parson's permission I have updated the shader_release_v3.2.2 patch to shader_release_v3.2.3 to now include a fix for DX10 ORBX FTX Global Lights.

RNAS Henstridge (HMS Dipper) Download

File Description:
Royal Naval Air Station Henstridge or RNAS Henstridge (HMS Dipper) is a former Fleet Air Arm base located 7 miles (11 km) west of Shaftesbury, Dorset (Now Somerset) and 12.4 miles (20.0 km) east of Yeovil, Somerset in South West England.

The main part of the land (355 acres) was purchased in August 1941, after which building of the airfield and the marsh lane accommodation site commenced, it was commissioned on April 1, 1943 as HMS Dipper, principally as number 2 naval fighter school, on the 11th September 1942, another 18 acres was acquired at the adjoining gibbs marsh area for an aircraft repair and maintenance site. The design and lay-out of the airfield was quite unique, having 5 runways, 2 of these being east west lay-out (07-25) both 1000 yards long, the northern runway incorporated a dummy deck landing strip, complete with under-ground arresting gear with four above ground arrestor wires, which was a duplicate of that installed on HMS Implacable for training of aircraft carrier landings, these mainly being carried out with the Seafire, a naval version of the spitfire with folding wings. The site also had its own cinema and stage hall

March 1952 the airfield became inactive and was placed under care and maintenance, during 1953 Air whaling (now Bristow group) used the facilities for repairs to the whaling fleet of helicopters until moving out in June 1958.June 1957 it was finally closed as a naval establishment, from 1958-1960 the entire site was sold off. 27 June 1980 the BBC purchased the whole site and applied for planning permission to erect at the airfield a shortwave radio station consisting of 21 self-supporting towers holding aerial arrays and ancillary buildings on a 300-acre site. The station would transmit overseas radio services to Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union and perhaps South America the application failed and the BBC sold the land during January 1987 The airfield is also the home of the wessex strut, a general aviation club formed in January 1977, which holds an annual fly in and other events their first fly-in was on 17 April 1977 and attracted 107 aircraft. As of today the only usable runway is the north 07-25 runway, extant with the concrete dummy deck, and the underground machinery chamber, it is also the home to a large number of light aviation enthusiasts aircraft as well as the Yakolevs aerobatic display team and the Dorset and Somerset air ambulance

The current airfield is operated by EGHS and is an unlicensed airfield. The only usable runway is 07/25 tarmac/concrete 750 mts long x 6 mtr wide. Henstridge radio can be contacted on 130.250 MHz, it can be found at the south eastern stub of the Yeovilton MATZ

Bethel PABE in southwest Alaska Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which have good airports and are serviced by Alaska Airlines. From these airports local flights connect to nearby villages, "nearby" in Alaska meaning up to 200 miles away. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is this one, Bethel. The town of Bethel has a population of just over 6,000 and is 50 miles from the sea on the Kuskowim River, that splits and forks into many tributaries. Bethel Airport is close to the town and provides the only contact with the rest of Alaska, as there is no connecting highway system. There are scheduled flights by Alaska Airlines, ERA (now called Ravn) and Grant Aviation, plus others such as Ryan Air. There are cargo flights by Everts, Northern, and Lynden, and redistribution onwards to nearby villages by the smaller locally-based planes; all of these are included in the AI. There are two main runways, one just under 6,400 feet and another just under 3,900 feet, both of them aligned 19-1. The third runway is around 1,800 feet and mainly gravel, aligned 11-29. Parking at PABE is on three aprons, the northern for smaller commercial planes of Grant, ERA, Ryan etc, the central for larger planes of Alaska, Northern, Everts, and Lynden, and the southern for a large collection of GA; each apron has further hangars for maintenance companies and smaller operators. There is also another separate apron for the local military and Coastguard. There is not much photographic information available for PABE, and I have never been there; as a result it was impossible to make detailed photographic textures for some of the buildings. However, for most hangars I have made textures of at least the right colour etc based on the information I assembled and if it is green with white trim and side windows then that is how it now appears here. The exceptions are the Alaska Airlines terminal building which has complicated curved elements, and the two military hangars and workshops where I had to settle for an Alaska terminal building from another airport and the same for the military. There are numerous small villages in the vicinity of Bethel, all of them being beside either a river tributary or the coast. There are two Google Earth screenshots to show the villages that are served by the flights from Bethel and that are (mostly) included in the AI. Some of these airfields were not included in FS9 but AI will still operate in and out of Bethel. The smaller area screenshot shows the villages that are close to Bethel, and of these eight I have so far made six and they are included in this post: Napaskiak PKA, Napakiak WNA, Kwethluk KWT, Atmautluak 4A2, Nunapitchuk 16A, and Kasigluk Z09. I will work my way through the rest of the area.
