Republic P-47D-22 404th FG (Y8-W) "Fighting Gator"

File Description: This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-22 42-26046 Y8-W "Fighting Gator" as flown by Lt. Fred Varn of the 507th FS/ 404th FG. It was a Republic Employee donated P47 that completed 200 missions without a technical abort and was retired from operational duties at a service conducted by the Group Commander. The aircraft was painted with the Republic Employee donated plaque and the ribbons of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Martin Catney.

This is a repaint of Brian Galden's Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer (pa22_tripacer.zip). Aircraft is depicted in French Army Aviation (ALAT) markings with high-visibility dayglo orange surfaces whilst serving in Mauritania with 1er Groupement d'Aviation Légère des Troupes de Marine during 1964.
