File Description:
FS2004/FSX South African Airways Vickers Viscount 813. The first of eight Vickers Viscount 813 turbo-prop airliners was delivered to South African Airways in October 1958. Except for one Viscount which was lost in an accident, all seven others were sold to British Midland Airways in late 1971.
ZS-CDT 'Blesbok' (c/n 346) was sold to BMA as G-AZLP. Its final owner/operator was North East Aircraft Museum.
ZS-CDU 'Bosbok' (c/n 347) was sold to BMA as G-AZLR. Its final owner/operator was BMA - British Midland Airways.

| South African Airways Vickers Viking 1B. |

South African Airways purchased three new Viking 1B's during September 1947 for use on its services to neighboring Rhodesia, where Central African Airways has standardised on the type.
A further five Vikings arrived in December 1947 and brought the total to eight.
The Viking was used on routes within Southern Africa before being disposed of in March 1952. All eight SAA Vikings were sold to British European Airways.
ZS-BNL 'Mount Prospect' (c/n 297) was sold to BEA as G-AMGI. It later wound up with Eagle Aviation and served as a cabin crew trainer before being broken up at Heathrow in 1960.

Repaint for Hawker Siddeley HS.748 - ZS-SBV, South African Airways. Textures Only. Original model by Rick Piper, Fraser McKay, Garry Russell, Brian Horsey, Brian Withers.
This twin-turboprop 748 replaced the Douglas DC-3 Dakotas on SAA regional services to neighboring states and South West Africa in 1970. The three were withdrawn from service in 1983.
ZS-SBV (cn 1692) was bought in November 1983 by Austin Airways. Air Creebec bought the plane in December 1988. At Riviere-au-Saumon, QC (Canada) during take-off for a domectic flight the no. 2 engine exploded on takeoff. A fire erupted and the takeoff was aborted. Of the 35 people on board there were no fatalities. The plane was written off.

| South African Airways Douglas C-47/DC-3 (circa 1970) |

File Description:
The remaining four SAA DC-3's - ZS-BXF, ZS-BXG, ZS-BXI and ZS-DJB maintained a feeder service - the "Milk Run" - for twenty five years. During their last few years they were operated along the Coastal Route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth by aircrews of Comair and later Air Cape under a license agreement. They were all transferred back to the SAAF in 1971. This Douglas C-47A-30-DL C/N 9492 was transferred from the SAAF in 1949 and was registered as ZS-DJB and given the name 'Simonsberg'. Textures only. Prior installation of Manfred Jahn's outstanding FS2004 Douglas C-47 Base Pack is required. Repaint by Andre Reimers.

| South African Air Force Vickers Viscount 700 |

File Description:
c/n 280 V.781D. Delivered to the SAAF, 28 Squadron on 16 June 1958 carrying a large consignment of airframe spare parts. A lot of these parts were never used and were discovered in a stockists inventory in the UK in 2010 and are now being used to restore museum Viscounts around the world. On 1 February 1968 to 21 Squadron and then to 44 Squadron on 28 October 1983 where it continued opearation as a VIP transport aircraft until withdrawn from use in September 1991. It was sold in September 1991 to Bazair and exported as 9Q-CWL. It crashed on 6 June 1997, killing all 23 on board in the DRC. These are texture files only. Prior installation of Rick Piper's Vickers Viscount 700 model is required.

This skin set is for the Tom Gibson/Greg Pepper DC-7B airplane available at calclassic.com and accommodates the latest in updates from Tom and team, including custom interiors, improved lighting, air stairs and opening doors. In 1956 SAA became the first non-American airline to place the type in service and had a fleet of four. ZS-DKE was delivered to SAA in March 1956.

c/n 04246. SAAF 105. 35 Squadron operated 9 De Havilland DH104 Mk.1 Doves from 1949 to 1965. Sold to Keegan Aviation as G-ASUV on 30 July 1964. Converted to Riley Dove. Withdrawn from use 10 September 1964. Exported to Nigeria as 5N-AGF on 17 March 1965 and used for mercy flights by Bristow Helicopters. Captured by Biafran Army on 18 July 1967 and subsequently used by Biafran Air Force. Ground-looped, hit a truck damaging a propeller and the right wing at Uli airstrip and declared a write-off. Sent to a school play ground at Uli Village, Nigeria.

c/n 146 Type 616 Viking 1. Bought new by Central African Airways (CAA) and delivered on 3 November 1946, registered VP-YEW and named 'Zambezi'. Sold to Eagle Aircraft Services Ltd on 9 July 1956 and registered as G-AIHA. Ownership transferred to Eagle Airways Ltd on 28 January 1957 and in March 1960 it was converted to a Type 616/3B. Textures only. Prior installation of Jens B. Kristensen's Vickers Viking model (viking_10.zip) is required. Repaint by Andre Reimers.

File Description:
Wenela got its name from the Witwatersrand Native Labour Association, which provided laborers for the South African mining industry. They were formed in 1952 with Africair as the operating company using DC-3's. Wenela was based and maintained its aircraft at Francistown and stopped operating in 1978. 42-72273 (c/n 10378/DC109). Bought TF-ISE from Icelandair on 22 March 1958 and registered as ZS-CJA. Reregistered March 1961 to Wenela Rhodesia as VP-YSS. Reregistered October 1968 to Wenela Botswana as A2-ZES. Sold to Agence et Messageries Aeriennes du Zaire (AMAZ) on 17 May 1977 registered as 9Q-CAN. Textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's Douglas DC-4 model (DC4_V30.ZIP). Repaint by Andre Reimers.
