File Description:
When Deutsche Lufthansa signed the contract to develop the prototype of the FW200 Condor on 16 July 1936, Focke Wulf's top designer Kurt Tank bet two cases of champaign to have the prototype flying within twelve months. After extensive testing it was decided to demonstrate the plane's capacities and to raise publicity with a number of spectacular long-distance flights from Berlin to Cairo, to Tokyo, to New York and to Rio de Janeiro.
