C-17 Globemaster III/ER Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
The C-17 Globemaster III/ER is a heavy cargo aircraft used by several foreign militaries, but primarily the U.S. Air Force. She is designed to do many things that other cargo aircraft cannot, based on her unique design. This version incorporates the extended range fuel tanks. The real world aircraft can actually use reverse thrust in flight, up to 100% reverse power, during descents or on the ground. It is also the only heavy aircraft in the world with a wing efficiency factor over 1.0, which is theoretically impossible, but true. All of the dynamics in this model are correct down to the inch, so she does almost everything the real aircraft does. Some things are not possible in FSX, including reverse thrust while in flight, but full flaps/slats employed in a steep descent will adequately simulate this effect without damage to the model while in flight. The landing gear are authentic and capable of heavy loads. The weight and balance is authentic. The fuel tanks are authentic. The aircraft name, tail number, location, and callsign are authentic. The calculated range(s) listed are all authentic, understanding that most public data released is based on average range, at average altitude, and normal payload missions. The sound is authentic. The engine dynamics are authentic. The panel used is the best I could find, is fairly authentic, and requires some pre-flight study before flight. All-in-All the aircraft is very simple to fly, but requires some study to operate correctly, so I recommend all simmers watch as many "You Tube" videos, read as many authentic sites, and study as much as possible about this aircraft before operation. Model by: Bob Chicilo, Sound by: Devyn Silverstein, Panel by: Phillip Wallaert, Auto Smoke Effects by Richard Wisman/Douglas E. Trapp, Real World Aero/Engine Dynamics and modifications by: Douglas E. Trapp, FS Flight Dynamics Engineer, [email protected], July 2018, FOR EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY. This aircraft is designed for educational use protected under the Fair Use Doctrine: (http://www.expertlaw.com/library/intellectual_property/fair_use.html). It cannot be sold or bundled for sale, and such will never be approved by me or the original authors. FREEWARE DISTRIBUTION ONLY!!! Douglas E. Trapp, [email protected], July 2018

AN-22 Antheus Mastered Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
THIS IS MY FINAL AN-22 VERSION: Unveiled to the West in 1965, the Antonov An-22 was the world's largest aircraft, until the advent of the Lockheed C-5A Galaxy. Powered by 4 contra-rotating turboprops, the design remains the world's largest turboprop-powered airplane. The An-22 was originally built for the Soviet Air Force and Aeroflot, the state airline. A total of 68 aircraft were built during 1965-1975, from which 2 never flew, 19 have been preserved, and 33 removed from service. Currently only 7 are in service. Six of them are used by the Russian Air Force and one (UR-09307) belongs to Antonov Design Bureau, used for civil needs, and operates out of UKKM. The AN-22 is designed to carry heavy loads of 80 tonnes over a 3,000 nm range at high speed and moderate altitude. The civilian model is used for long and medium range flights with updated avionics and flight controls. The wing has a forward and rear sweep effect with a low taper ratio and moderate wing area for it's size. The tail includes twin vertical fins that help maintain stability. The engines are constant speed turboprops that include 2 four bladed contra-rotating props with auto-pitch, and this gives her a thrust rating of 15,211 shp and a fuel efficiency of .353 lb/hp/hr. The cargo area is 14 ft high and wide, and 108 ft long. All fuel is contained within the wings and in the upper fuselage (7 tanks). She has 12 wheels that carry most of the weight, and two steering wheels located behind the crew cabin. Cargo is loaded through the rear loading ramp. The cockpit is located high, as well as the crew quarters. Additional passengers (when present) are seated below the cockpit forward. Original Design and Textures by: Enrique Del Rosario; Sound by: Aaron R. Swindle; Panel by: Marco Spada; Auto Smoke Effects by Richard Wisman; Engine/Aero Dynamics, effects and data by: Douglas E. Trapp. Please Read the Readme AN22.txt file before operations.

B-52J Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Since it became operational in 1955, the B-52 has been the main long-range heavy bomber of the U.S. Air Force. It first flew on Apr. 15, 1952. Nearly 750 B-52s were built when production ended in Oct. 1963. This "J" model is the future re-engined "h" model 60-0042 of the 917th Wing AFRC based at Barksdale AFB (KBAD). She flies higher, further, and faster than any previous version. The aircraft can cruise at 380 KIAS at 500 ft agl over about 5,000 nm which makes her capable of reaching targets within enemy airspace anywhere on the globe without being detected by radar until it's too late. Her normal high altitude cruise speed has been increased to Mach .88 above FL550E over 9,000 nm without refueling, and her service ceiling has increased to FL570E. The 50,000 lb payload is still nominal, but due to the lighter engines she now has more accomidations for the crew, and does not require refueling very often. She can range much further with less speed (i.e., Mach .85), but there is normally no need for that. This aircraft is designed to fly like the real thing. It is likely one of the best B-52 models available at this time. I have test-flown this aircraft around the globe several times to reassure myself that all is well. You will not have a bouncing effect occur when cruising with 16x speed acceleration and autopilot engaged because all aerodynamics and balance are perfected to a very low margin of error, or no error margin at all. Please be sure to read the INSTRUCT.TXT file for extended details. Original aircraft designer: Mike Stone; Textures by Bill Baldwin; Panel and gauges by Philippe Wallaert; Auto Smoke Effects by Richard Wisman; BR-725 Sound by Ronald Buffalo; Real World aero/engine dynamics, data, lights and effects by: Douglas E. Trapp, FS Flight Dynamics Engineer, Irving, Texas, [email protected], October 2018. The use of this model, and the configuaration of such, is designed for free educational purposes, and protected by the Free Use Act: (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/107). North American B-25J (PH-XXV) "Sarinah" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the North American B-25 by Roy Chaffin Studios (RCS). It shows B-25J PH-XXV "Sarinah" of the Royal Netherlands AF Historical Flight. The B-25J-20-NC SN 44-29507 now flying as "Sarinah" was accepted by the USAAF on September 28, 1944 and delivered on September 30, 1944. She departed the same day to Moody Field, Georgia. The TB-25J trainer-bomber came on duty with 2144 Base Unit, ATC starting October 7, 1944. During her Air Force career, she amassed nearly 6200 flight hours. In July of 1959, she was sold to Fogle Aircraft in Tucson, Arizona. Her civil registration was assigned as N3698G at that time. In November of 1959 she was sold to Aero Enterprises in Elkhart, Indiana. In March of 1962 she was sold to Verco Tropical Fisheries in Columbus, Ohio. She was converted to carry cargo in bomb bay and waist area in December of 1962. She was then sold in February of 1966 to Robert R. Johnson from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In November 1968, she was owned by Austin Williams. Sold again in July 1972 to Ernest G. Trapaga from Redondo Beach, California. In September of 1974 she was purchased by I. N. Burchinal of Paris, Texas. Then, in September of 1979 she was sold to Robert Wingate, then back to Burchinal in November who sold her to Reyline Aviation from Kissimmee, Florida. In June 1981 she was sold to Donald Webber of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She flew as "Cochise". In December of 1989 she was sold to AMHO Corp from Wilmington Delaware and the registration was changed (in 1990) to N320SQ (representing the Dutch B-25 Mitchell 320 squadron). She was then ferried to Eindhoven, the Netherlands May 22-25 1990. The bomber was operated by the Duke of Brabant Air Force (DBAF) at Eindhoven Airport, Netherlands, who owned the bomber since 1996. From 1990 to 1999 she flew in RAF colors as "Lotys II". In April-May 1999 she was repainted in former ML-KNIL (NEIAF) colors and renamed "Sarinah". In 2009, her civil registration was changed to the current PH-XXV. Ownership was transferred in 2010 to the Royal Netherlands AF Historical Flight after a merger with DBAF. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the original textures by RCS.

Honolulu International Airport, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii (PHNL) with Active Crosswind Runways V2 Download

File Description:
A high quality AFCAD2 for Honolulu Int'l Airport (PHNL). Only for use with the freeware scenery by Bill Melichar (honov5.zip). The file is built from scratch using the latest FAA charts, various photographs and information from the airport website, in order to be as near real as possible. All taxiways are named as per real life and runway lengths are 100% accurate. All Airline gates are named as per real life and have the correct airlines assigned to them. Using the crosswind runway technique, all runways are now active for use at the same time. The Air Freight Terminal, to the west of the airport is also featured, with parking assignments for the cargo carriers that use it. Hickham AFB parking is included, consisting of a Military Combat area, Military Cargo area and airline gates for troop charter flights. Maintenance parking for Air Pacific, Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian airlines jets can be found on the south ramp area. An extensive GA area can also be found on the south ramp, and can accomodate any privately owned aircraft ranging from Cessna to Boeing 747. It is recommended (but not necessary) that you also download the freeware "Hickam AFB" scenery by Derek and Brendan Webb (dbwsimhickam04.zip) as it greatly enhances the appearance of the Air Force Base. This file has been extensively tested and all AI flows as it should. New in this release are updated gate assignments for new airlines that recently started to serve Honlulu, plus updated parking for new cargo carriers. Previous version of this file had over 2000 downloads. Enjoy!!

Bethel: St Mary's area airfields in southwest Alaska close to the Yukon River Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This presumes you have already installed Bethel PABE and Bethel Local Airfields. In the Yukon River area of Alaska to the north of Bethel there are small villages, served by flights from both Bethel and the nearer St Mary's PASM. St Mary's has a gravel runway like the other villages, but has a larger population and airport services including maintenance and fuel. This, plus the saving of an average one hundred miles of flying by a Cessna 205 when compared with flights from Bethel, means it acts as a distribution centre fed from Bethel by larger aircraft. Go to "http://vfrmap.com/" for free vfr maps of the area (see the attached). The ten village airfields included here are all to the north and west of St Mary's: Hooper Bay PAHP, Chevak VAK, Cape Romanzof PACZ (closed air force field servicing a radar station), Scammon Bay SCM, Sheldon Point SXP, Alakanuk AUK, Emmonak PAEM, Kotlik 2A9, Mountain Village MOU, and of course St Mary's PASM itself. With these airfields not everything is as it appears to be. For instance, Hooper Bay is not a new and modernised airfield, despite the asphalt runway and apron; the current version has dispensed with the aging asphalt and gone back to gravel. I have tended to go for the 2005 or so versions, which sometimes means a small runway amid or close to the housing; Kotlik was an early renewal for reasons of safety as much as anything else and has had (since 2003?) a new and longer runway located outside of the town. The second batch of airfields will be to the east of St Mary's.

Knight Inlet CF36 float base in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Knight Inlet is a floating lodge that organises "nature experiences", ranging from close encounters with local grizzly bears to fishing. Knight Inlet is to the north of "the narrows" where the Inside Passage gets squeezed between the mainland and Vancouver Island, and there is a chart section attached with a pointer to the location. At the bottom of the chart is Campbell River floatbase, and to the west is Port Hardy. Knight Inlet initially runs east-west, and the lodge is tucked into a smaller north-south offshoot, close to where the main inlet turns north. The water runway here is in the middle of the north-south offshoot, though of course in reality the "runway" is wherever the wind dictates it to be. The names highlighted in green on the chart are float bases to be renovated and posted with working AI. The buoyed log boom next to the lodge is to keep escaped logs from drifting in and colliding with boats; float plane pilots keep their eyes peeled too. Because of large hills adjacent to the lodge the landing of the AI may or may not take place, depending on wind direction and whether or not they fly into rock before landing. Take off and departure are far more reliable, particularly if the wind is from the south. Most of the AI is from Vancouver Harbour, Harbour Air Otters and West Coast Air Beavers, plus a SeAir Beaver from Campbell River and a private Cessna from the nearby Minstrel Island. This is the second in a series of new and renovated float bases in BC (the first being Sproat Lake) and to cope with the AI demands FSAddon have authorised the inclusion here of a bunch of AI Otters and Beavers that were originally part of a payware scenery for the area. Thanks are due there.

Silver City CFQ5 in Yukon Territory Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Silver City is a ghost town in the Yukon Territory, Canada, amid the Rocky Mountains and around 35 miles northwest of Haines Junction. It is on the southern end of Kluane Lake and in the Kluane National Park and this probably explains it's (minimal) survival after what appears to have been the shutdown of mining for silver. There is little information readily available. The date of this scenery is, as usual, around 2010. There was no recent regular service by Yukon Air North or any other airline, and the primary user of the airfield adjacent to the lake is a company called Icefield Discovery Tours. Their activity is probably very similar to the company at Haines Junction and involves trips to the National Park amid mountains and glaciers. There is also another organisation at the airfield, the Kluane Lake Research Station of the Arctic Institute. They have four buildings there but it is unclear how much aerial activity they generate, or if in fact they fly at all for their work. The runway is 3,000 feet of unlit gravel, aligned north-south. This post will be followed by Burwash, which is at the far northwestern end of the lake. There is no video of the Silver City airfield on Youtube, and it is not the most exciting airfield in the world, but the location is enough in real life for a visit to be made. On YouTube there is a series of posts by Angle of Attack showing the preparation and then the flight of an old Cessna 172 from Homer to Oshkosh for the installation of modern instruments. Interesting for me as they visit or fly over airfields I have made: Homer, Merrill, Tok Junction, Burwash, Silver City, Haines Junction, Watson Lake, Fort Nelson, and Grande Prairie. But they fly in the winter so it all looks very different.
