Yellow ‘1’, W.Nr. 5057, was flown by the commander of 6. Staffel JG 51, Josef Priller, and underwent several camouflage color modifications through its career. According to some sources, the initial scheme was composed of RLM 70/71/65. However, it is easier to confirm later variations, when the underside light blue was extended up the sides of the fuselage, and quite high up at that. Later, this color was subdued by the application of irregular squiggles of RLM 02 and 71. Furthermore, the upper surfaces of the wing, originally composed of broken lines, were augmented in a similar manner as the fuselage sides. This was the appearance of the aircraft in the fall of 1940, and as depicted by our profile. At the time, the aircraft also received a yellow nose section and rudder. The extent of the front end yellow coloring is up for speculation. The emblem of II./JG 51 ‘Gott strafe England!’ (God punish England!) shown on the rear of the fuselage, is sprayed on without the usual white background, only with the black border around a black raven with an umbrella, symbolizing Neville Chamberlain. The Staffel marking in the form of the Ace of Hearts subsequently was used on Priller’s later aircraft as a personal marking. The kill marks denoting Priller’s aerial victories on the tail in the form of vertical tabs with dates, partially obscured the Swastika. Beer lover Josef Priller attained 101 aerial victories in 1,307 operational flights between 1939 and 1945.TEXTURES only. Included are textures for a non-Swastika version. A Bf109E-1, W.Nr. 4048 Yellow 7 of 3/JGr.101 based at Hoya in Nordrhein-Westphalia. JGr.101 carried unusual codes which were simply an outline in the staffel colour. This aircraft carries the staffel's running fox emblem on the cowling and a name, Schlangenfuß! (Snakefoot!), under the port windscreen. The balkenkreuzen are typical of a pre-war aircraft, so it should make quite an interesting scheme. TEXTURES only. Included are textures for a non-Swastika version. BF 109 E4, Major Helmut Wick flew this BfE-4 while assigned to 3./JG 2 (Richthofen) at Cherbourg-West, France in October 1940. 45 white victory bars are apinted on the rudder. Wick scored 56 kills before he was shot down over the English Channel on 28 November 1940. TEXTURES only. Included are textures for a non-Swastika version. Messerschmitt Me 109 E-4 WNr. 1480 von Oberleutnant Fritz von Werra, Gruppen-Adjudant II./JG3 Udet. Paint before crashlanding at Marsden, Kent UK during his 10th sortie of England. Franz von Werra - fighter pilot for the German Luftwaffe during World War II, gentleman, favourite of the Nazi media, and the only German ever to escape British captivity. During the mid-50's, the spectacular escape to Canada and the USA was made into a film with Hardy Kruger in the leading role. Once again, von Werra became an important role model for young Germans: a courageous man who fends for himself to fight for his own well being - but not on behalf of National Socialistic ideas. In 1941, von Werra lost his life in a mysterious crash. Numerous rumours regarding this incident, as well as his origins - for he was Swiss - developed. Using the feature film "The One that Got Away" as the starting point, film director Werner Schweizer, together with Hardy Krüger, follows the traces of this historical anti type. TEXTURES only.
