Seattle Expansion Toolkit

File Description:
Conversion of the Seattle Region from .cpd to .bin for FU3 This experimental toolkit is for region builders, its not a new full game ! If you want expand the region with new material to the north and the east then conversion to .bin is a must. Do not convert if you don't plan to expand or modify texture of the tiles. Then the only results are a larger game folder :-( The quality of the original tiles will not change ! The Seattle region is converted from 10x10 tiles area into a 16x16 tiles area but just 2 new tiles are made north of Coupeville Nolf as sample, so 154 tiles are then still missing and replaced by the blank tile (new full water tile). As elevation the new NASA-SRTM-V2 model is used. Backup your Seattle region before starting the experiment.

New Elevation data GeoTiles.tag for FU3 Seattle Region

File Description:
The test elevation meshes for Switzerland and UK Region using the data from NASA SRTM_V2 program ( 3 arc second resolution, about 90m grid ) was so successful that I have tried to do a new elevation file for the Seattle Region using the 1 arc second elevation from the same source ( US area only ) 30m grid resolution. Each elevation point ( 64m grid in FU3 ) is now converted from the UTM coordinate to the exact Lat/Long WGS84 coordinate and for this point the elevation data are picked up and stored. The Geotiles.tag file residing in the /region/seattle/geos/ folder contains this data. To benefit from this new elevation experience FIRST RENAME YOUR ORIGINAL GEOTILES.DAT FILE INTO XGEOTILES.DAT then copy the geotiles.tag from this zip into the geos folder of the Seattle region. Start FU3 and enjoy the new perfect fitted landscape. Best way is to start directly from the air and not from an airport then all airport are no more flat, have hills and holes. Models and runways are floating over the ground or are into the ground.

GeosTools for Airport Areas

File Description:
To make a flat airport area in the new Seattle SRTM elevation, you will need these tools. GeoTilesViewer34.exe is to edit the Geotiles.tag file and L3map6x5.exe is to create level 3 texture maps of the Seattle area to locate airports. There is just a short tutorial in this set.

Elstree Aerodrome

File Description:
After a short visit of the real Elstree Aerodrome in May 2007 I decided to build this airfield for FU3. Elstree is a hilly airfield with a down slope at RW08. Taxiways goes up and down also. This reflects the real life aerodrome ground of Elstree. AI planes operates in a flat environment only and so they will float over ground at rw26 and are under ground at rw08. The selected AI elevation, defined by the placement of the blue airfield square in FLED is at the taxi exit in the centre of the runway.

Stemme S6T models for FLED

File Description:
These are FLED models of my Stemme S6T motorgliders. One is stationary (prop stopped, no lights), the other if running (spinning prop, nav lights on). There is also a sound file as well for the running model. Enjoy!
