File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-10-VE #42-39996 which arrived at Bassingbourn to join the 91st BG on 14 january 1944. She was assigned to the 332nd BS and after completing a few flights, she received the name 'Boston Bombshell' after the original aircraft carrying that name was brought down near Munster. Tony Stracer painted the nose art, based on Esquire's August centrefold by Varga. On 16 August 1944, on its 47th mission, "Boston Bombshell" was attacked by a group of 25 fighters before reaching the target, Halle. All four engines caught fire and she went down in a blazing inferno. Only two crew members survived, pilot Lt. John Dunlap, and navigator Lt Hubert Carpenter. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

"Holy Terror III" Boeing B-17G Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Repaint for the A2A B-17G in the colors of B-17G-10-VE 42-40056 "Holy Terror III" of the 100th BG, 351st BS. On March 8, 1944, "Holy Terror III" was shot down about 15 miles East of Berlin after mechanical difficulties made it impossible to maintain formation. All 10 crewmembers became POWs till the end of the war. An eyewitness account of the actual day the aircraft was lost states that pilot (2nd) Lt. (Norman L.) Chapman feathered #1 engine, then unfeathered it near Dummer Lake at 1240 hours. He continued with the formation, although straggling, to the I.P. where he was attacked by three (3) E/A. Escorting Fighters went down and picked him up. The aircraft appeared to be under control when last seen.

Repaint by Will "dafraz48" Turner, based on the A2A paintkit, October 2014.

File Description:
This is a repaint for the freeware Warwick "Wozza" Carter AT-6G Texan. This repaint depicts the restored AT-6D Ser. 42-84757, N43826, registered to Natre Air III, LLC. This aircraft was restored by Midwest Texans for owner Nathan Davis, and painted in the fictional, but beautiful, markings of a 325th FG "hack" to match the owner's P-51D "Checkertail Clan". This aircraft won the "Judges' Choice: T-6" award at Oshkosh 2008 and the "Preservation Award" at Oshkosh 2009. This aircraft is often flown in the very capable hands of female warbird pilot Laura Stants. This repaint includes all new exterior textures (including specular and bump maps), new engine and modified wheel well textures, and new and modified cockpit textures throughout. This repaint requires the files t6texmod.zip and fsds_t-6update.zip to be installed first.

B-24J USAAF 380th BG/528th BS "Flak Fled Flapper" Download

File Description:
This file contains a repaint for the payware Alphasim B-24 Liberator. "Flak Fled Flapper" was a B-24J that flew with the 528th BS/380th BG between june '44 and august'45. She flew 36 missions from Australia and another 42 from the Philippines. According to crew member George Grover the "Flapper" was a real person -- her name was Helene Chilton; she was an entertainer at Earl Carrol's nightclub in Hollywood. Joe Synar (Acft Cmdr) with several others went to Earl Carrol's; her picture was on the menu; they met her, and Joe took the menu with him to the SW Pacific area, where the artist (Dick Ebberson) drew her from the menu picture. A chaplain suggested there where no decorations on her so Joe had Dick put on two strings of beads! Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-15-RE 42-76181 B4-X "Special Delivery", the aircraft of Lt. Samuel "Sack"Saunders of the 388th FS/ 365th FG. Lt. Saunders came from Wellington, Kansas, and was one of everybody's favorite pilots, always smiling, very sharp and a leader when flying. He shared one victory over an Me 109 with Andy Smoak when the squadron was jumped by Germans on August 19, 1944, and had a solo victory over an FW190 during the turkey shoot on October 21. He chased the 190 over 50 miles before hitting it in the nose, causing the ammunition to explode and the pilot to bail out. "Special Delivery" was destroyed on the ground during operation Bodenplatte, the luftwaffe attack on January 1, 1945. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Martin Catney.

Boeing B-17G 91st BG (LL-E) "Shoo shoo shoo baby" restored Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A WoP2 B-17G in the colors of B-17G-35-BO 42-32076, the former "Shoo shoo shoo baby". In 1968, the ancestry of F-BGSH, an old B-17 languishing in derelict state on Creil Airfield in France, was discovered by the Australian aviation historian Steve Birdsall, who notified the USAF museum that this was a combat veteran that had flown operational missions, in contrast to most other surviving B-17's. Following negotiations, the B-17 was donated to the US by the French Government. Interestingly, its Swedish heritage attracted interest from Sweden as well, but nothing came of this. The aircraft was disassembled at Creil and trucked to Frankfurt and flown to the US in 1972, where it arrived, packed in 27 crates. No plans or funds for restoration were present at the time, but in 1977, Mike Leiston, a technician at Dover AFB contacted the museum about the possibility of restoring one of the museum's aircraft by volunteers at Dover AFB. With project approved, 42-32076 was transported to Dover, with the aim of restoring it to a stock wartime B-17G. Upon arrival, Paul McDuffee, who had flown her for 13 missions, was present, and the reunion was clearly an emotional one as he commented "I've just got to go over and kiss her", which he did. The restoration continued to 1988,and after some 60.000 ma hours, "Shoo shoo shoo baby"took to the skies again for the first time on 11 september. On 14 october 1988, she flew for the last time, to the USAF museum near Dayton, Ohio, where she can still be seen. The main difference with her wartime looks is the fact that she currently sports an olive drab camouflage paint, which was necessary due to all the metal work needed to bring her back to a stock B-17G condition. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

Republic P-47D-22 365th FG (D5-O) "Sally Flat Foot III" Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-22-RE 42-26386 D5-O "Sally Flat Foot III", the assigned aircraft of Lt William Ward of the 386th FS/ 365th FG. The first 365th FG pilot to report for duty, Bill Ward also had the distinction of leading the group on its last combat mission, a patrol flight on 8 May 1945. He scored to kills over Me109's, one marked with the German cross below the cockpit, scored on 22 june 1944, and another later in 1944, but that never made it into the 365th history books, hence the question mark. All lt Ward's Thunderbolts were called Sally Flat Foot, a nickname for his wife Sally. The third one also had a picture of a bird on the nose he referred to as 'the worry bird'. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by Martin Catney.

DC3 Flying Tiger Lines Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Still fresh from their days with the American Volunteer Group in China, whose P-40s were adorned with shark's teeth, the founders of Flying Tigers perpetuated this theme on their recently purchased C-47s. This Bill Larkins photo was taken at San Francisco in 1946. FTL operated approximately a dozen or so before gradually acquiring the more capacious C-46s and later C-54s. NC59699 (c/n 13061) was an ex C-47A-20-DK, USAAF serial 42-93178 civlianized in 1946. When sold by Tigers it went to India as VT-CTZ. This is my first ever repaint for FSX. It could have been nicer, but the paintkit is hell to work with, with overlapping parts of fuselage and severe warping, asymetrical overlapping and mirroring on the nose textures. Included are repaints of the VW van, interior headrests with Tiger Line logo and stewardess. Copyright Toby Louwen For questions, contact [email protected]
