KAFW Fort Worth Alliance Airport - Texas, US Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Ft. Worth Alliance Airport opened in 1989 and was billed as the world's first purely industrial airport. It is located around 14 miles North of the central business district of Ft. Worth and is also nearby the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (KDFW). The airport serves general aviation, corporate jet, cargo, and military air traffic on a daily basis and it's proximity to the Texas Motor Speedway (only a few miles) brings extra dense traffic on race weekends. The airport is home to the American Airlines 777 and 767 maintenance base, FedEx Southwest Regional Sort Hub, Bell-Helicopter Training Center, DEA Air Operations Center and DynCorp International. Sadly the American Airlines maintenance base is set to close at the end of 2012 but is being kept alive in FSX!

This scenery features custom 3d buildings and objects bringing you a very accurate rendition of Ft. Worth Alliance Airport. Requires FSX Acceleration for the all scenery objects to display correctly.

Note: These files MUST be installed for the scenery to work correctly (otherwise there will be missing scenery objects at the airport):

Honduras Islands v3 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Version 3 includes all previous patches and updates. This version also restructures the file system to be fully compatible with the ORBX "FTX Global openLC North America" product as well as adding functionality for default FSX users. Additionally, water class scenery is updated to appear more realistic, MHRO is updated to reflect the newly expanded apron, and SRTMGL1 (30m) mesh is included. All landclass polygons and coastlines were meticulously hand-drawn directly from satellite imagery to provide the most detailed and accurate scenery available for this region. This project rebuilds the islands of Roatán, Barbareta, Guanaja, and Utila, and adds Cayos Cochinos and the numerous cays associated with the "Islas de la Bahia" (Islands of the Bay). Roatán (MHRO), Guanaja (GJAJ/MHNJ) and Puerto Lempira (MHPL) are completely overhauled and positioning is corrected. New and fully functioning AI airports are added for Utila (MHUT), Fort Cay (MHFC) and Cochino Pequeño (MHCP) of the Cayos Cochinos chain, and La Ceiba (MHLC) is modified to accommodate more AI traffic. Accurate coastlines, lakes, road and river data, as well as corrected landclass are provided based on the latest available satellite imagery. GA flight plans are provided to add or enhance service to the smaller islands. Updates were created or rebuilt in a manner which carefully aligned airport data with current satellite imagery, when available. Scenery was created using Airport Design Editor X v1.70.6042, SBuilderX 3.13, and the FSX Object Placement Tool. Scenery objects were added and modified from stock FSX scenery to resemble as closely as possible the actual airports.

RAF Church Fenton Download

File Description:
RAF Church Fenton (ICAO: EGXG) was an Royal Air Force station in North Yorkshire, near the village of Church Fenton. Plans for a new airfield adjacent to the village of Church Fenton were announced in June 1935, it was subject to protest from the local population particularly concerning the waste of valuable farming land and was close to an existing airfield not far away at Sherburn. Despite the protests construction started in early 1936 on the site, which was a mixture of private and West Riding County Council-owned farm land. On 1 April 1937, the station was declared open and on 19 April the first station commander Wing Commander W.E. Swann assumed command. Within two months No. 71 Squadron RAF had arrived with their Gloster Gladiators. Second World War Opened in 1937, the station saw the peak of its activity during the years of the Second World War, when it served within the defence network of fighter bases of the RAF providing protection for the Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Humberside industrial regions. During September 1940, it became home to the first RAF "Eagle squadron" of American volunteers being No. 71 Squadron RAF. The airfield was also home to both the first all-Canadian and all-Polish squadrons, with No. 242 Squadron RAF for the Canadians and No. 306 Squadron RAF for the Polish. As technologies evolved, the first night fighter Operational Training Unit (54 OTU) was formed at Church Fenton in 1940 and stayed until 1942. Some of the squadrons stationed there flew the famous de Havilland Mosquito. Source and more information can be found at :- http://military.wikia.com/wiki/RAF_Church_Fenton

RAF Wickenby (1940s) Download

File Description:
RAF Wickenby was a purpose built Royal Air Force station constructed late 1942 and early 1943 it had two T2 type hangars and one B1 type. The B1 and one of the T2 hangars can still be seen on the airfield site. The T2 near the threshold of runway 21 was recently acquired by the airfield owners and after many years of industrial use is now, once more, an aircraft hangar. The airfield covered about 600 acres (2.4 km2), and had the usual three runway configuration with perimeter track, hard standings, a brick watchtower and numerous brick and metal buildings for the aircrews and ground staff. A number of the buildings were to the east (Communal Site, Living Quarters, WAAF Quarters) and stretched to and beyond the Lissington road - a road travelled many an evening by the airmen and women who visited their favourite watering hole, the White Hart at Lissington. The Sick Quarters were to the south of the airfield together with a Communal Site and Living Quarters. The north part of the former airfield is now known as Wickenby Aerodrome, which is a grass and concrete airfield. A road from Holton cum Beckering to Snelland runs right over the former airfield. Companies based at the airfield are Thruster Aircraft who make microlight planes; Fly365 Ltd who fly pleasure flights; and Rase Distribution - a haulage firm. Planes using the airfield have to make contact first with the control tower at RAF Waddington. The Watch Office is the home of the RAF Wickenby Memorial Collection and the Wickenby Archive, a museum and collection of memorabilia and archive dedicated to the memory of the Squadrons who served here.

RAF Tholthorpe Download

File Description:
RAF Tholthorpe opened in the late 1930s as a grass airfield, and operated as a sub-station of RAF Linton-on-Ouse. From August 1940 to December 1940, Tholthorpe was a landing field for Whitley bombers of No. 58 Squadron RAF and No. 51 Squadron RAF based at Linton. From January 1941 to June 1943, Tholthorpe underwent maintenance to upgrade to Class A standards, with three intersecting concrete runways. RAF Tholthorpe was assigned to No. 6 Group RCAF in June 1943. RCAF squadrons stationed here included No. 434 Squadron "Bluenose", 431 Squadron "Iroquois", 420 Squadron "Snowy Owl", and 425 Squadron "Alouette". No. 434 Squadron, flying Halifax bombers, was formed and headquartered at Tholthorpe airfield from June 1943 until the squadron was moved to Croft. In July 1943, 431 Squadron moved to Tholthorpe airfield from Burn. It was later moved to Croft airfield as well. Not only were the operational squadrons quartered here, also their service echelons, - respectively Nos. 9431 and 9434 Service Echelon - which were formed from the ground crew of nos. 431 and 434 Squadron on 3 November 1943 and who moved with their squadrons on to Croft in December 1943. In December 1943 No. 420 and No. 425 Squadrons (together with their service echelons, nos. 9420 and 9425 Service Echelon were moved to Tholthorpe airfield from Dalton and Dishforth respectively. These squadrons had returned from service with Wellingtons in North Africa, and it took them several weeks to work up on the newly acquired Halifax bombers. They were therefore unable to fly their first raids from Tholthorpe until mid-February 1944. No. 420 Squadron flew 160 operations from Tholthorpe airfield and lost 25 Halifax’s. No. 425 squadron flew 162 operations from Tholthorpe airfield and lost 28 Halifax’s. In all, 119 Halifax bombers were lost from Tholthorpe. In April and May 1945 nos. 420 and 425 Squadron converted to Avro Lancaster’s, which they took with them when they left for RCAF Debert, Nova Scotia, Canada in June 1945. The station closed in June 1945.

Tradewinds Airways Canadair CL-44 1977 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is a repaint of the Canadair CL-44 in Tradewinds Airways colors. You need the freeware Canadair CL-44 by Mike Stone. Tradewinds was a British air cargo company. In November 1968, Transglobe Airways ceased operations, leaving a fleet of Canadair CL-44s lease-purchased from Seaboard World Airlines in limbo. Later in the month, Bobwood was formed to takeover the aircraft lease. Bobwood's name was changed to Tradewind Airways in January 1969 and all three ex-Transglobe Airways CL-44s were transferred over to the new company. Due to Seaboard World Airlines (a U.S. Cargo airline) having a large interest in Tradewinds, the British Government would not issue a license. Thus, in April, a British group was put together to take over the company. Consequently, a route network was developed primarily to Africa and North America in 1971–1976. Also in 1972, the carrier began flying from London Heathrow, often on all-cargo subcontracts for foreign airlines. In January 1977, Tradewinds became a wholly owned subsidiary of the multinational Lonrho Group. They received the 707-320Cs soon after. In 1978–1979, Tradewinds offered scheduled jet freight services from London to points in Africa, USA, and Canada. Unfortunately, in January 1986, Tradewinds ceased operations, citing overcapacity, undercutting by competing charter services, and stringent new noise abatement rules as cause of the demise. Its assetts were purchased by Tal Air, a British business travel airline, and tried to revive Tradewinds with freight services to Africa and the Middle East, however it was not to be, and they finally shut down for good in 1990. Textures are 32bit bmp. This aircraft was tested on FSX-SE. It should work on FSX and FS2004. *This is strictly an FS2004 model. However, I used it on FSX-SE by replacing the FS2004 panel and gauges with an FSX 2D panel, and it worked well. I have included two internet links for users of FSX, who wish to fly the aircraft, with easy instructions on how to go about replacing the FS2004 panels with FSX ones.

Spitfire Aerodrome Airport (7N7), NJ Download

File Description:
Located 02 miles S of Pedricktown, New Jersey on 48 acres of land, Spitfire Aerodrome Airport is a public asphalt single-strip field that allows transient craft to tie down on the apron. There are also helicopters based here on this field (note there is no Jet-A fuel available) so the helicopter start location will place you on the ramp.

Although this airport has a beacon, FSX for some reason does not include one with the stock airport file and I can't yet create rotating beacons so it is there and lit at night but does not rotate and is not as visible as the rotating ones. This will be addressed in a later update. Also take note of the layout of this airport, it requires that AI traffic cross the runway in order to taxi to either end for take off. AI aircraft DO NOT hold short when taxiing across runways (this is an FSX limitation), so use extreme caution on approach and departure to avoid any unfortunate runway incursions. Aircraft can fuel up by parking near the fuel truck beside the hangar south of the runway. If you have trouble locating the windsock, look on top of the hangar roof north of the runway. The crashed aircraft in the pond is fictional, there is a distinctive airplane-shaped object there in the satellite textures but I could not determine what this might be from aerial photos so I just crashed a plane there for kicks :)

Scenery constructed with use of satellite images/streetview/aerial photos - the author has not been there in person. This scenery is meant to be used in conjunction with MegaScenery Earth New Jersey/Delaware 004. It is not required, but apron use is minimized to allow satellite scenery to show through as much as possible, and objects are placed based on the MSE textures - lack of it may make scenery look out of place.
