ESMU-Almhult |
![]() |
File Description:
The Aerodrome is situated in the Southern part of Sweden known for its great nature with rich trekking, fishing and hunting possibilities in endless pine forest.
ESMU is a nice challenge to all aviators with its only 600m long Runway surrounded by forest. The Scenery is created FOTOREAL with use of fast Dxt textures, with winter and night textures, and it has very low impact on FPS. Visit VirtualAirports.dk and se my other Airport projects.

CYQR 2015 - Regina International Airport - Groome Field **Season Adjustment Option** |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This is an update option for CYQR 2015 - Regina International Airport - Groome Field scenery.
The CYQR 2015 scenery was designed to match the more accurate North American winter season changes developed by Scott Smart, which is available in the AVSIM file library. Seasons in the scenery are mismatched if the North American Season Zones Adjustment is not installed. This update provides users with an option to adjust CYQR 2015 to the default seasons.

File Description:
My apologies to all who downloaded the original pack, dated May 3rd! I don't know how that happened but the zip didn't include the textures themselves.
So here's the full pack and its original description: All new set of trees' textures for FS2004. About the textures: Reduced tree size and added more of them. More color variation on individual trees adding variety and depth. Darkened hard winter trees. Format: DXT3 1024x1024. Enjoy! Joao Paz, April 2023

Frozen Canadian & USA Rivers & Lakes Revision |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This "freezes" all lakes and rivers for winter flying and means they can be landed on with skis or wheels; it is meant for low level flying rather than high level jet flights. This edition is complete in itself and now really covers all of Canada and parts of the USA along the border, including large parts of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. It is reversible with an "untick" in the FS scenery library. The revision is the addition of frozen sea in the area of Baffin Island (where I and Sid & Pete have recently posted all of the Baffin Island airfields) as I missed this area last time. Sorry about that. I have spent some time making sure that the sea and the inlets along the coast in the south do not get frozen too, and also some of the lakes that are close to the coast and rarely get cold enough to freeze over. The Great Lakes do not usually totally freeze, but this is an either ON or OFF modification and partial freezing cannot be convincingly simulated, so I went for total ice. Along the north shore I went for the peak of the winter with sea ice all the way to the permanent polar cap; this is not totally realistic as there is usually a partially open lead along the coast, but as with the Great Lakes...... It will work without Ultimate Terrain, but as UT is what gets all the lakes and rivers there and in the right place (except in the far north) it is obviously much improved with UT. The pics show Rockcliffe in the winter with the frozen Ottawa River for real and in FS for comparison; without UT the river would not be in the right place.

Tuktoyaktuk CYUB in Northwest Territories, Canada |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Tuktoyaktuk is on the northern coast of Canada, 70 miles north of Inuvik and to the east of the Mackenzie River delta. It has a population of around 900 and because of its natural harbour is a centre for oil exploration activity on the surrounding land and on the Beaufort Sea, with sizeable but now under-used yards dating back to the peak of activity in the late 1970's. On land work is restricted to the winter half of the year, as only the freeze-up makes it possible to move on land with heavy equipment, and during the winter further supples are driven over an ice road from Inuvik up to Tuk. The ice-free summer months are used for floating equipment from Yuk along the coast on barges and then up the rivers to inland sites in preparation for the winter activity. Before the oil there was a DEW line station here, and there is still an automated station on the same site and included here, as are the yards. The airfield is on the coast close to the town and the yards, at 15' ASL. The gravel runway 09/27 is 5,000' feet long and 150' wide; both thresholds are displaced by 200', but of course there are no markings on the gravel. The large apron is on the north side at the centre of the runway and is large enough to accomodate several large planes. Inuvik revised should be installed first, now Tuk, then last of the three Sachs Harbour which has AI for Aklak Airlines flights (operated by Kenn Borek) for all three airfields. There is a separate AI file included here, featuring freight delivery by Buffalo Airways and small planes.

Galena PAGA Runway and Taxiway Lighting in Alaska |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Galena is in Alaska, and this posting adds proper runway lighting to the gravel runway that is used in the winter by light planes on skis, and because of that is not cleared of snow; unfortunately a gravel surface that gets snow covered in winter cannot be replicated in FS9. There are also taxiway lights visible during the day and at night there will be lit taxiway lights. I did not attempt to replicate the complicated main runway lighting which is well covered anyway by FS9. First of all, download and install the Library Objects once and for all from either the Allakaket Lights or Anaktuvuk Lights postings earlier this week. Then put these new bgl's into the existing scenery folder of your previous Galena PAGA installation and say yes to replace the existing bgl's that have the same names. Add the texture folder contents to the existing texture folder as they are required for the red warning lights at the ends of the gravel runway. There will be further retro upgrades to other recent scenery that was posted with temporary lighting. Say thank you to Greg Putz for making the lighting.

Edson CYET in Alberta, Canada |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Edson is 120 miles west of Edmonton in Alberta, on Highway 16. It was originally named Heatherwood, but that was changed to honour the vice president of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway when it was made the local railway centre. It thrived, and when Highway 16 was upgraded it thrived even more. Coal mining and industry connected with timber are the main employers of a population of around 8,500. The airport is at the western edge of the town at 3,041 feet asl, with a single lit runway 6,000 feet long and 100 feet wide aligned 07-25, with displaced thresholds and VASI at each end. The two joined aprons are at the eastern end of the airfield, with fire fighting chemical tanks beside the western one which is reserved in the summer months for the Lockheed Electra Air Spray planes; these are included in the AI. The eastern apron is for visiting charters and GA planes, next to a small terminal building. There is further parking on the grass for resident planes next to a large gravel car parking area and clubhouse. As the Air Spray planes would not be fighting fires in the winter there are in fact two editions of the AI, one for the summer fire fighting season and the other for the winter freeze. Use whichever one is appropriate for your flight time; I never strayed far from Ottawa in the winter so for me it is the summer one only. While making this I came across something new in the shape of some incorrectly installed edge lights in the stock fs9 version that refused to be deleted. There is still an "Edson TOP" folder which would normally be used to delete all unwanted taxiway edge lights, but in this case it deletes only some of them. Apologies, but there is nothing more that I can do and so I suggest you use this in daylight only.

Stephenville CYJT in Newfoundland Canada |
![]() |
Images related to this file:
File Description:
Stephenville is on the east coast of Canada, and the airport was an American base from 1941, when it was built, until 1966. It was named the "Ernest Harmon Airforce Base" and I will leave that for you to research if you wish to know more. Operating in my version (around 2010?) as a civilian airport, it's main features are a long 10,000 feet 09-27 runway (with ILS on 27) and acres of empty space. The runway was one of those designated as an emergency space shuttle landing runway if required. There is a shorter 20-02 runway (3,000 feet) that is not maintained during the winter (and which would be closed in 2018). The revised perimeter fence of the airport now encloses less than half of the original area, with the northern parts replanned as an industrial park. The attached screenshot from Google Earth shows this, and also that the main operating part of the airport is at the western end of the main runway, with only one hangar connecting to the runway from the eastern end. Like Gander, the airport is still shrinking, with taxiways and aprons not maintained (particularly in the winter) or even formally closed, and flight numbers falling. Until the early 1990's Stephenville was serving most of western Newfoundland and Air Canada, for instance, was one of the airlines that flew there. Deer Lake took over this task for western Newfoundland when the Provincial Government so decided. Stephenville remains as a port of entry, and planes with a total of 30 or less passengers can still be serviced there. My version is a mixture that cannot be precisely dated. For instance, I know there was a large hangar there until 2013 but as I do not have any photos to make it I have shown only the concrete square where it formerly stood. So 2008 or 2013, or somewhere in between? I have the airport being served by Provincial Airlines and also by Porter, though in fact Porter only flew there during the Summer months; I say "flew" as right now all flights are of course almost totally non-existent. As with Gander, I have made it clear which of the taxiways and aprons are still in regular use by showing them as asphalt, while those in the process of decaying disuse or removal are in the darker gravel or tarmac textures; this is somewhat realistic as when asphalt aprons are "ploughed" for removal the darker underside becomes visible. I have also shown the areas that now form part of the Industrial Park as cement, as this better matches the Ultimate Terrain road texture. It may seem odd that the new Canadian Coastguard hangar is not properly served by an asphalt taxiway instead of sitting on an apron that is not cleared in the winter, but it caters (mainly?) for helicopters. The original coastguard hangar is the large and decrepit one in the northeastern corner of the airport. Almost all of the buildings within the original perimeter of the airport are fairly accurately replicated here, whether still in use (Road Maintenance Department, Garbage Disposal, Armour Trucking Company, etc) or vacant (including the very strange atom-bomb-proof buried shelter) or still part of the airport (the east side of the main apron with Shell to the north, then the terminal, the Marine Institute, etc). The AI included here (a revised Gander AI) is for daily flights by Provincial Airlines, Porter, and some charter planes and GA. You will see, once the scenery is installed, that like Gander there two scenery folders called "Scenery summer" and "Scenery winter". Obviously in August you will want the summer scenery and you get this by editing the folder name down from "scenery summer" to just "scenery" and FS9 loads the summer ground textures. If FS9 decides that there is snow on the ground then you need the winter textures which do not show the aprons or taxiways that do not receive winter maintenance. One thing you must NOT DO is to edit both folders down at the same time.
