File Description:
This is the logic extension to my prior work, the relief textures for the autogen and airport buildings, that you can find in the file rlftxts1.zip. Now I try to improve the 3D aspect and relief of the ground textures, and give them a "bit of life"... I believe that these new textures are more "immersive" than the default ones

Replacement Grass Runway Textures

File Description:
These are a set of replacement grass runway textures which should provide a lighter/discolored strip down the centerline of a grass runway. Appearance is slightly different throughout the seasons, more discoloration during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Less discoloration during Winter, and a slight spattering of mud during Hard Winter with snow on the ground. Credit goes to the FS9 developers and Bill and Lynn Lyons, who graciously allowed me to use modified Silver Wings textures.

Water Reflection Replacement Textures

File Description:
The Golden Eagles Squadron presents alternative sparkling water with sun and moon reflection textures. They add a more dynamic quality to the fs2004 water with sun glints and vigorous wave action as would be seen on a sunny windy day. Caution, these textures are only for DX9 compliant cards and will not work unless you can move the "Water Effects" to High in your display options! Resized Runway and Taxi Textures

File Description:
Resized default textures for Runways and Taxis in FS2004. Texture format is cut in half, from 256X256 to 128X128, thus reducing the overall filesize from 3.5MB to 1.25MB. Smaller texture sizes improve framerate (FPS).

Replacement Dynamic Water Textures v11

File Description:
Replacement dynamic water texture-sets for FS2004 (VERSION 11). These newer version 11 moon light textures are a completely new type than my earlier versions. The results are much improved and there is also a "new moon" texture in this version which is a more realistic and darker blue/black which contrasts nicely with my moon light textures. This compares quite drastically to the default over lit pinkish brown tones the default FS9 uses for a new moon. Now when you fly by moonlight you can actually see the moon kissed water and even see some wave action. It actually feels like you are there! There are 2 moon light textures in this download. The default reflections and water colors leave a lot to be desired in FS2004. As an example; The default milky "bright green" overcast texture is highly unrealistic in overcast conditions. The replacement textures will change this dramatically to a much more convincing and realistic "blue/grey", cast, with improved lighting and reflections in respect to the sun. These replacement textures will generally give a much more realistic tone and color to the water effects in FS2004. The change is quite dramatic and transforms the flight sim experience to a much greater level of realism. It is important to stress the default FS9 textures are fully compatible with these new textures and they can be used in any combinations and can be mixed and matched with the new textures. For example it may be that some users want to keep some of the water environment textures as they are by default but change only one or two textures. The choice is yours. As a further added bonus a voice control file has been included for "Shoot" which will control FS2004 by voice. It is brilliant and it's free.

Replacement 'Moon Light Water' Textures

File Description:
Replacement "moon light water" textures for FS2004. The default FS9 night water texture is the same for all moon positions and it is clear that MS did not complete their intention to finish this section as they include “high moon”, “low moon”, and “new moon” textures for the FS9 code to work with but all the textures are exactly the same. As a result of not finishing this section MS had to make a compromise and opted for a hint of color and brightness to all the night time water environment textures. In other words upto now we have not really seen a new moon or a full moon with FS9. I’ve changed all that and maybe using these textures will give us a hint of what to expect in FS2006 or FS10. Textures included are; new moon light water textures and a new "new moon" texture. Now when you fly by moonlight you can actually see the moon kissed water and even see some wave action. The new darker "new moon" water texture allows for a dramacic difference It actually feels like you are there! Please NOTE: I've read quite a bit recently on the forums and noticed some people want no wave action. Personally, I like the wave action as it gives an impression of movement. Of course it could be better and hopefully will be in FS10 or FS2006 but that's upto MS, and it is not out yet. Meanwhile please be advised it is not possible to see environment textures and to turn the wave action off! By Peter Wilding
