Airstrips of Eastern France Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Next in my ongoing "Airstrips of Western Europe" project for FS2004, herewith about 100 sceneries of small, mostly default airfields in the eastern section of France, each enhanced with taxiways, parking spaces and aprons as appropriate, to further facilitate the generation of lightweight AI traffic in the area without overloading the more major airfields. When combined with the French airstrips from my previous uploads, the majority of the default small French airstrips in FS2004 will be able to generate AI traffic, should you so wish, as well as putting a little basic detail into the countryside. Again, there's no photo-realism here, just a selection of basic 'generic' buildings, more or less accurately sized and placed to reflect the airfield layout as seen on on-line satellite imagery and aerial photography. These buildings have minimal effect on frame-rates, so are ideal for this kind of job. The airfields are aligned as well as possible with the roads etc. in UT Europe and the Genesis Europe mesh, but should mostly be fine in a default installation or other configuration.

VFR of Lario, Area B1 - Como lake, Italy Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is the second scenery of the "VFR of Lario" project that follows the previous LagoComo_A1, made with photorealistic terrain (multiseason & night) and with some 3D GMax realistic objects. With this scenery there are also enclosed the great realistic meshes that cover all the Como lake area.

Information: Como's lake (called Lario), is placed in the north of Italy, closed to the Helvetic border. This second scenery covers approximately an area of 7.5x6 kmt, from Bosco di Falmoira/Rondago (NW) to Nesso (NE), and from Balerna/Chiasso (SW) to monte Bolletto (SE), and includes some details of the towns around the lake as Cernobbio (pier, Villa Erba and Convention Center, Villa d'Este, Akzo Nobel buildings), Moltrasio (pier), Carate Urio (pier), Laglio (villa Oleandra), Brienno (buildings and pier), Nesso (pier), Careno (pier), Faggeto Lario (pier), Torno (building and Pier), Blevio (pier).

Contents: several piers and small docks, motor ships and boats, an animated hydrofoil; some other buildings (GenericBuilding system) and trees widespread all over the scenery. Review of Brunate's funicolar and Castel Baradello, due to updated meshes.

Airstrips of South-West France Download

File Description:
Part two of my "Airstrips of Western Europe" project, these 90+ sceneries are mostly default basic airstrips from FS2004, enhanced with taxiways, parking spaces and aprons as appropriate, to facilitate the activation of lightweight GA AI traffic, primarily over the south-west of France. Hopefully these will allow a degree of continuity between my previous upload (Airstrips of North-West Europe) and the existing freeware releases for Spain and Portugal. A good number of airfields in this area have been neatly implemented in the "Occitania_VFR" package, so I've not duplicated their work. Also included are some "bonus" sceneries from further north that weren't included in my previous upload. Just copy them over as appropriate if required.

Airstrips of Switzerland Download

File Description:
Just a small collection of of ai-enabled airfields, that don't appear to have been implemented by other authors, to further expand my Airstrips of Europe project. As before, the files for each airfield can be easily identified by the ICAO code, even if the airfield names vary slightly, so you can pick and choose and mix and match to suit any sceneries you already have, should you so wish. There is no requirement for any other download. Each airfield will exist as a stand-alone entity should you only want a few of them. Please read the rest of this "blurb" in the included text file. There may be some details of note or interest.

Alps LOD10 Topo Mesh - Switzerland and France Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Yet another terrain mesh package of the European Alps? Well, this one is different in that it is NOT primarily based on the Shuttle Radar (SRTM) data with their incomplete coverage of prominent peaks and ridges. Instead, most of the source data for this project were developed over many months by Jonathan de Ferranti using detailed topographic maps. While Jonathan's work is unrelated to flight simulation he kindly gave me permission to compile his data for use in FS. The result is a wonderful improvement in detail and accuracy over any existing SRTM- or DTED-based mesh file, freeware or commercial (a link to an extensive set of screenshot comparisons is included in the read-me file).

I've compiled the source data at LOD10 (38-m) grid resolution because the coverage area is smaller than most existing mesh files. Thus, anyone can use these files without having to first uninstall their current mesh set. Also included are LOD9 and LO8 buffer mesh files. Note: if you own Switzerland Professional with its high-resolution terrain mesh then you don't need this package, at least not the Switzerland files!

Prince George CYXS in British Columbia, Canada Download

File Description:
Prince George is centrally located in British Columbia, mid way between the border with the USA in the south and the northern border with the Northern Territories, and around 100 miles west of the eastern border with Alberta. The town now has a population of around 74,000 and is regarded as the province's northern capital. It is at the meeting point of the Fraser and Nechako rivers and the crossroads of highways 16 and 97. It started out as Fort George in the early 1800's when a trading post was established by the Northwest Company, serviced by paddle boats on the rivers. The railway arrived in the area in 1914 and growth continued, albeit slowly due to wars and the financial collapse of the 1930's. Timber and timber products were and still are the mainstay of the area, along with a military and governmental presence. The date for this scenery is around 2010. I have made some new buildings from memory and the available information online. They are not totally accurate reproductions; for instance I know that the terminal building is brick faced and also has parts that are stone (or metal?) faced, but where? So I used brick everywhere. The control tower is also brick faced, but is not exactly the right shape. The airport management team have continued to grow the activity and services provided with the result that flights and passenger numbers continue to increase. The 15-33 runway was lengthened to the south, (in the period 2003 to 2005) from the original FS9 scenery 7,400 feet to my updated 11,450 feet with central lighting and ILS at the northern end. This made it the third longest runway in Canada. At the same time a loading/unloading cargo area was created with professionally run storage and also a large scale refueling storage. If DHL want to refuel their 737 then they can do so without making prior arrangements. The AI included here is for Air Canada Jazz and an Air Canada 737, Westjet 737 and Dash8, a helicopter company that is based there, Pacific Coastal, Central Mountain Air, and GA. The range of airlines and planes reflects the "northern capital" status of the town.

Portland KPDX 2010 scenery for FS9 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Portland KPDX 2010 is a highly detailed and accurate replacement for the default FS9 KPDX scenery. The airport has been completely rebuilt and includes: * All new taxiways, aprons, roads, buildings and parking areas, covering the airport itself and extending east along Airport Way to the I205 bridge. * Custom terminal with accurate placement of jetways, gate numbers, ramp lighting and other features, including the Horizon Air terminal extension. * Custom versions of the old short-term and recently completed long-term parking structures. * Custom version of the very cool Horizon Air engine runup structure. * The I205 bridge has been moved to its correct location. If you are using Ultimate Terrain the bridge and roads will now line up. * Photo textures used wherever feasible. Peter Ham made the excruciatingly detailed AFCAD and placed the zillions of scenery objects. Sidney Schwartz made the stunningly attractive custom scenery objects. This project represents many hours of work on our part, and we hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed making it. This scenery was designed to work in conjunction with Ultimate Terrain. If you do not have Ultimate Terrain, some of the roads will probably be misplaced, but everything else should work OK.

CD KnettishallFS9 Download

File Description:
Description: From June 1943 to August 1945, the 560th, 561st, 562nd and 563rd Bombardment Squadrons of the 388th Bombardment Group with B-17's, flew 331 missions (including 19 Aphrodite missions from Fersfeld) losing 179 B-17s. On 6 September 1943, the 388th lost 11 B-17's on a mission to Stuttgart including all the aircraft of the 563rd BS. The airfield was not used again and sold off in 1957. This add-on is not compatible with VFR scenery. Sorry for that. Included in the download is an AI traffic BGL file that makes this base come to life. To get this file working, you must have the Wings of Power Heavy Bombers and Jets add on installed. You must also have downloaded the two repaint set for the B-17 done by my friend Chuck Lawsen. This last file can be found here at Avsim, its called: wop_388_b17.zip This project is as always dedicated to all the brave young men that contributed to the effort of getting Europe out of the claws of a dark, perhaps the darkest period in modern history, but this time it is especially dedicated to 1st Lt. Ralph M. Reese, co-pilot 562nd Sqd., and of course all the brave men of the 388th. Enjoy! Cees Donker
