MAAM TBM-3 Avenger VMTB-143

File Description:
FS9 repaint of the MAAM TBM-3 Avenger. It represents an aircarft from Marine Torpedo Squadron 143 (VMTB - 143) as embarked on the USS Gilbert Islands in spring-summer 1945. P81 "The Loose Goose" was the mount of Capt. Stalnaker, and Capt. Patterson who grew up on his family's "Goose Haven" farm. Repaint by Steve Bryant based on the TBM-3 of VT-17 (USS Hornet CV-12) original textures by Todd Disrud included in the MAAM Avenger package, and the paintkit by Jan Visser, which can be found on the Free Stuff page for the Avenger at www.maam.org.

MAAM TBF-1 Avenger VC-8

File Description:
FS9 repaint of the MAAM-SIM TBF-1 Avenger. It represents an aircarft from Composite Squadron Eight (VC-8) as embarked on the USS Mission Bay in December 1943. E16, along with 9 other TBF-1s and 6 FM-Wildcats of VC-8 were aboard to provide convoy patrol along the southern routes to North Africa. Repaint by Steve Bryant based on the TBF-1C of VT-7 (USS Hancock CV-19) original textures by Todd Disrud included in the MAAM Avenger package, and the paintkit by Jan Visser, which can be found on the Free Stuff page for the Avenger at www.maam.org.

Wings of Power P-51D "Missouri Armada"

File Description:
P-51D Mustang 44-14789 "Missouri Armada" flown by Capt. John "Johnny" B. England.John Brooke England was born in 1923 at Caruthersville, Missouri. His service number was O-739263 and he joined the 362nd FS of the 357th FG in April 1943 as a 1/Lt meaning that he was part of the original cadre that left the ZI in November 1943 for the UK. He was promoted to Captain and then to Major. He took command of the 362nd FS on 25 August 1944. He served two tours with the 357th FG for a total of 108 operational missions giving a total of 460 hours combat flying time. He was the second highest scorer in the 357th with a total of 17.5 victories. England finished his second tour and rotated home on 26 January 1945. He remained in the service after the war and was killed in an F-86 crash in November 1954 in France. P51D NL51HY "Quick Silver"

File Description:
P-51D-30 45-11439 became N5071K with Norton M. Smith, Seattle, WA, 1963-1964. It was later registered as NL51HY with Barbara Hunter from Lewisburg, WV, July 14, 1998-2002 and is currently with Rancho Linda Vista LLC. Back in the air after a long restoration, it is painted in a striking paintscheme, with D-day stripes and post war roundels as "Quick Silver". Repaint of the Shockwave WWII Fighters P-51D Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by John Terrell.

P-51D 15th FG/78th FS Iwo Jima 100 "Jeanne VIII"

File Description:
P-51D-20 44-63973 was assigned to Major James M. Van de Hey, the CO of the 78th FS. He was a highly experienced veteran fighter pilot, who had scored his first victories flying a P-40 with the 45th FS in january 1944. He shot down a 'Dinah' on 7 april 1945, on the first VLR mission to Tokio. Jim van de Hey retired from the USAF in 1971 as a brigadier general. Repaint of the Shockwave WWII Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.

This is a repaint only for the Shockwave WWII Fighters P-51D. This Mustang never saw combat during the second world war, and passed through the National guard after the war, before being sold to private pilots. She flew as ZK-PLI "Miss Torque" in New Zealand with the Alpine Fighter Collection between 1993 and 2003 before being sold and it returned to the USA. She is now flying with Jack Croul in a completely bare, factory fresh look. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by John Terrell.

P-51D 21st FG/531st FS 305 "Shrimp IV"

File Description:
P-51D 44-63781 was assigned to Captain Charles G. Betz, of the 531st FS/ 21st FG, based in Iwo Jima, may 1945. Capt. Betz flew combat with the 72nd FS during the Central Pacific campaign, damaging one 'Zeke' with his P-39. He transferred to the 531st in spring 1944 and became operations officer in march 1945. He flew several VLR missions with the 531st before receiving orders sending him home on 1 june 1945. Repaint of the Shockwave WWII Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.
