Mesa Verde National Park, Cortez (KCEZ), Colorado, Photo-Scenery (FS9 & FSX) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Mesa Verde National Park is famed for its numerous ruins of cliff dwellings built in the 12th century by ancient Pueblo people called Anasazi. Cliff dwellings are highly defensible stone villages situated under alcoves (rock overhangs) along the canyon walls. The largest cliff dwelling in the park is Cliff Palace, which is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. Cliff Palace contained 150 rooms and housed approximately 100 people. Unfortunately you won't see the cliff dwellings from the air, because they are under the cliffs but you will see everything else like all roads, trails and facilities. Very little is known about the Anasazis and the reason for their sudden departure at the end of the 13th century remains a mystery. Theories range from crop failures due to droughts to an intrusion of foreign tribes from the North. The name "Mesa Verde" stems from Spanish explorers seeking for a route from Sante Fe to California. They named the region Mesa Verde (spanish for green table) because of its high, tree-covered plateaus. High resolution versions of this scenery for FS9 and FSX (much sharper, but larger and multiple downloads) are available at www.blueskyscenery.com/GNB_West2.html . The screenies are taken from the high-res versions, so expect this version to be slightly more blurry. Thanks to Joop Mak for providing custom AFCADs that correct airport layouts so that they align with the photo-textures! They are available at www.blueskyscenery.com/AFCADs.html . Zion National Park North, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Cedar City (KCDC), Utah, Photo-Scenery (FS9 & FSX) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Cedar Breaks National Monument is a large amphitheater cliff in bright colors of red, orange and purple. It lies east of Cedar City in the northern region of the scenery. The cliff was formed by erosion thru wind, water and ice. Today erosion continues with a pace of about 2 inches every 5 years. Although it is called Cedar Breaks, there are no cedars growing there but juniper trees. For a scenic flight to Cedar Breaks National Monument best depart from Cedar City Regional Airport (KCDC) and head east. The scenery extends south to Zion National Park and covers a large part of Zion Canyon and the Kolob Canyons area. Zion National Park is another place where erosion of the Colorado Plateau formed the most beautiful colorful stone formations of unique and wonderful shapes. There are nine different layers of stone visible in the park. Most of them consist of sandstone. But there is also limestone, gypsum, siltstone, shale, clay and mudstone. The Virgin River cut a spectacular and famous canyon thru Zion Park that is as narrow as 20ft and up to 2000ft tall. High resolution versions of this scenery for FS9 and FSX (much sharper, but larger and multiple downloads) are available at www.blueskyscenery.com/CNY_South2West5.html . The screenies are taken from the high-res versions, so expect this version to be slightly more blurry. Resort / Aviation Traders Douglas C-54B Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This package contains two repaints for Jens B. Kristensen's FS2004 Douglas DC-4 & C-54 V3.0. One repaint represents Resort Airlines' C-54B (modified to DC-4 standard) N88709 while performing military charter flights (Logair) for the U.S. Government from October 1954 till sometime in 1955. Then she was placed in open storage at Oakland, CA. The other repaint represents the same aircraft in her British ferry markings she carried in late June 1961. Around 1961-62 five ex-Resort C-54s which had been stored at Oakland for some time, ranging from several months to 6 years, were rescued by Aviation Traders (of Southend and Stansted, England) from the scrapdealer's axe and converted to ATL.98 Carvair car-ferry and cargo aircraft. N88709, which was in an extremely poor condition after her Logair period of minimal maintenance and repeated overloading, as well as the abuse by the elements during the open air storage close to sea water, was one of these lucky birds.

These are textures only. You will need Jens B. Kristensen's FS2004 Douglas DC-4 & C-54 (DC4_V30.ZIP). Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

KLM Douglas DC-3 PK-ALW Download

File Description:
After the occupation of the Netherlands in May 1940 several KLM DC-3's got stuck in the Dutch East Indies. One of them was PH-ALW 'Wielewaal' ('Oriole'). Although the DC-3 was operated as PK-ALW by KNILM from 1 June 1940 on, she was still owned by KLM and as such flew the shortened "Indies-route" Batavia to Lydda (Palestine, by then under British mandate). On 7 March 1942 PK-ALW was the last civil aircraft to leave the Dutch East Indies when the Japan invaded the island archipel. From then on the aircraft continued its career in Australia, first as a military aircraft and after the war as an airliner, registered VH-INR. The DC-3 still exists (2007) as a static museumpiece of the Queensland Air Museum in Caloundra, Queensland. The repaint of PK-ALW is based on the templates Mark Beaumont created for the MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 (passenger version), which were based on Jan Visser's original textures. This repaint has not been tested for FSX but will probably function there as well. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

Cunard Eagle Viscount 707 G-ARKH Download

File Description:
Built for Aer Lingus as EI-AFW and delivered in March 1954 this aircraft was sold to Eagle Airways (Bermuda) in January 1960 as VR-BBJ. In March 1961 it was transferred to the renamed Cunard Eagle Airways when the shipping company bought a large interest in Eagle. It became G-ARKH until after Cunard pulled out and teamed up with BOAC. The airline was renamed British Eagle and this aircraft was sent back to the caribbean taking up it's previous marks of VR-BBJ in July 1962. Just two months later it was bought by Bahamas Airways who sold it in July 1963 to BOAC Associate Companies and reverted to G-ARKH. It continued with Bahamas Airways as VP-BCF when repurchased in January 1964. This continued until December 1968 when it was bought by Bahamas Developement Corporation and WFU and stored Nassau, Bahamas. Sold to James Carter in July 1973 it was withdrawn at Little Rock Arkansas. Sold to Southern International Air Transport in December 1977 it was broken up at California City, California later the same month. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper

NAC de Havilland DH-114 Heron 1B Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
New Zealand National Airways Corporation (NAC) was the first operator to receive the DH-114. From 1952 till 1957 NAC flew with four Herons 1B's, which were acquired to serve those airfields which could not take NAC's standard airliner of those days, the Douglas DC-3. The Herons primarily flew across Cook Strait (Rongotai-Blenheim-Nelson) and later also to Hamilton and Rotorua. Since many modifications were required for this new airliner, the Herons proved too costly.

In 1957 they were written from use. One Heron was sold to the UK but sadly suffered a fatal crash on delivery. The other three, including ZK-BBM, were stored and in 1960 sold to Fiji Airways (later Air Pacific). In November 1975 Rotorua-based Air North bought ZK-BBM from Air Pacific. Already in 1978 she made her final landing and was stored for years at Ardmore Airfield. Classic Flyers NZ, based at Tauranga Airport acquired the Heron in March 1989. Since then she has been restored for static display at the Classic Flyers Museum.

You will need the DH-114 package available at Classic British Flightsim.

Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II' Download

File Description:
FS2004 Lockheed VC-121A Constellation 'Columbine II'. The Lockheed C-121A Constellation is the military transport version of the L-749A Constellation. Delivered on 22 November 1948, this particular aircraft was soon converted to VC-121A VIP-transport. From November 1952 till November 1954 this was the personal transport of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1952, President Eisenhower was flying to Florida. The Presidential plane was named 'Columbine II' (after the official flower of Colorado, the First Lady’s home state), but it was identified to flight controllers as “Air Force 610” (from its tail number 48-610). However, flying in the same general region was Eastern Airlines Flight 610. The Eastern Airlines pilot overheard a conversation between flight controllers and the President’s plane, and for a moment thought the references to flight “610” were meant for him. Although nothing untoward happened, the government realized that the confusion could have been tragic. Since then, any Air Force aircraft with the President on board has been referred to as “Air Force One.” Thus, the 'Columbine II' was the first aircraft to be distinguished with this designation, and she served President Eisenhower for several years in this role. This repaint is a much improved version of the one issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will function there as well. These are textures only. You will require Francisco Sánchez-Castañer's great payware Lockheed L-749 Constellation, which can be obtained from Abacus' Platinum Collection (see http://www.abacuspub.com/default.html). Repaint (based on Francisco Sánchez-Castañer's textures) by Maarten Brouwer.

English Electric Lightning for AI traffic - The Frightening Part 2 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
English Electric Lightning for AI traffic - The Frightening Part 2. This aircraft is one of the iconic military aircraft of the Cold War era, charged with home defense of the United Kingdom, as well as duties abroad, throught the 1960s - early 1980s. The Lightning served admirably in that role, was exported to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait; and also saw limted combat service in the Arabian penninsular region. After thirteen years of painting, and eight years of abortive attempts to discover the true mysteries of aircraft design, this is my first from-scratch original aircraft to make it to upload. There is a lot of Nick Black influence (and pilot figure) in this model, but the rest of the physical model is all mine, good or bad. This is an 8-LOD model, with all sorts of eye candy listed in the documentation. The painting comes from an age when gaudy heraldic liveries were quite acceptable on tactical aircraft, so this is a painter's dream as well. My intent was to make a very comprehensive offering with a lot of options (and paints), so to that end I am breaking this up into three manageable parts so it won't be a 70MB download. This is part 2, encompassing the F.2A, F.6, T.4, and T.5 variants; collectively containing 24 model options and 30 paints. Please take some time to read the extensive doucmentation, there are numerous credits and instructions regarding this model. Base models, paint kits, and release repaints by Michael Pearson, inspiration by Nick Black, flight dynamics by Michael MacIntyre, and relentless technical expertise from Steve Holland.
