Tips and Tricks Number 17 - 2005 Holiday Edition. This issue presents several suggestions to liven up your Holidays as well a several fine Tips which have been submitted by our readers. Since this will the be the last issue before the New Year, I have packed it fuller than Santa's bag with useful ideas and the "From the E-Mail Bag" department answers a question of general interest. Also included are two "Bonus Files" which readers have allowed me to present to all as a Holiday Gift. Updated indexes by John Burford for the entire series in Excel (xls) and Adobe Acrobat (pdf) formats are included. As usual, I have attempted to include something of value for everyone, regardless of your experience level. Please unzip to a temporary location using the folders option. Compiled in .doc and .pdf formats for your flying enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall.

File Description:
Fuerza Aerea Venezolana N.A.B-25J-25 Mitchell FAV-6A40 of the Escuadrón de Bombardeo No.40. A first batch of 3 planes were taked in charge the 08/28/47 followed by 12 more planes in 1949. Others 11 planes were received between 1950-1952. A last batch was taked in charge by 1963 with 11 planes of the RCAF. The planes were operated in actions with the "Porteñazo" and "Carupanazo" by 1960 and also utilized in the surveillance missions over The Monjes islands. This planes were operated from the Base Aérea Tte. Vicente Landaeta Gil, Barquisimeto,Edo.Lara and retired in 1973 after requipment with Rockwell OV-10E Broncos. Model by the MAAM team, Bill Ranbow, Jan Visser, Fred Banting and Rob Young. Repainted by Daniel Nole. In order to use these textures, you must already have the MAAM-SIM payware B-25J 'Briefing Time' installed in your FS2004 aircraft folder.

| Smiths Falls CYSH near Ottawa in Ontario Canada |

File Description:
Smiths Falls airfield is four miles east of the town of Smiths Falls and some 30 miles southwest of Ottawa. In bad visiblity it can be found by following the multiple power lines that run east-west half a mile or a mile north of the airfield. There are 45 hangars on the airfield and I have run out of time for modelling the last ten; I will get to them, but later. All of the hangars in the front line visible from the runway have been newly modeled specifically for this, along with the radio shed, gas pump shed, odds-and-ends shed, flying club office, and the new clubhouse, making 40 buildings in all. The old clubhouse burnt down in the summer of 2006, and the concrete slab is still there beside the car park. The new building cannot be anything other than an improvement.

FS2004 ALPHA BLEU CIEL French Chance Vought F4U-7 Corsair.The F4U-7 was the last corsairs produced. The F4U-7 was produced exclusively for the French Navy at Vought’s plant in Grand Prairie. A total of 94 planes were produced between 1952 and 1963. The F4U-7 was basically an updated version of the F4U-1B with AU-1’s structure powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800-43. The F4U-7 has a maximum speed of 440 mph (382 knots). France has used the F4U-7 in Indochina, Suez and Algeria.Two models made completely in Gmax with dynamic shine, reflective textures, full suspension, animated gear, flaps, cowls flaps, opening cockpit, wing fold, tail hook, custom 2D panel, working VC and includes two liveries. 3D Model, virtual cockpit & textures Guy Hulin. Liveries: Euro Link VA NC & OC (inc winglet model), Air Europa "Disney", Excel Airways, KLM, Lufthansa (inc winglet model), Ryanair, ThomsonFly, XL Airways. All aircraft are equipped with professional sounds and a professional panel. He also integrated the up to date Server Info gauge into all aircraft for use with VATSIM. The usual push back gauge is also included along with the crew announcements. A new added feature to this package is V Speed readouts, which were not included in the last release. PZL-106 BT Turbo "Raven" is a single engine, low wing agricultural airplane. It is powered by M 601 D turbine engine rated at 540 kW(730 HP) with reduction gear. Metal propeler type V508 D, three-blade, constant-speed model. Integral wing fuel tanks capacity-560l. Classical tail unit, fixed landing gear with tail-wheel. Glass-fibre laminate hopper of 1500 l capacity. Made in polish aviation factory: "EADS-PZL Warszawa-Okecie" in Warsaw, Poland. Aircraft is use every time by Agriculture Aviation Service EADS-PZL ZUA MIELEC in many countries (Africa, Asia, Europe and South America). Model aircraft made by Zbyszek Urbanowski (FSDS program), main panel(foto by Mr. Stephan Pugatch from Brazil) with outside views and default gauges and sound by C208, without VC, in three original version's: agriculture... -with atomizers spray system,...-with nozzles spray system - all with fan-driven pump and last...: -for fire-fighting.

The members of Military AI Works are proud to bring you the this freeware AI package, produced by Military AI Works, which depicts several Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve units in the states of Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan to further populate your FS2004 skies. Included in this package are models, updated aircraft textures, unique callsign voicepacks for each squadron, and AFCADs for each squadron's home base.
NOTE: This version is a complete revamp of the previous GLANG 1 ANG package. Be sure to remove ALL components of the previous package before installing this package, this is VERY important! Also be sure to make sure your using the latest update of Editvoicepack as some of the needed callsigns for this package are contained in the latest updates.

Chance-Vought F-8 Crusader (Part 2). I present a comprehensive AI traffic model package for this classic aircraft of modern military history.
This is an original 8-LOD model, with many animations and features thanks to a growing confidence in XML-coding and making FSDS work for me instead of the other way around.
Nicknamed "The Last Gunfighter", this aircraft was the last production aircraft for the US Navy and Marine Corps which used guns as primary armament, and was in service at the twilight of this age, as well as the dawn of the missile age. Like all combat-experience aircraft, it had a relatively short life during its operational use (only about twenty years or so as a fighter), but was used a little longer as a recce aircraft; and beyond that in export service to France and the Philippines. The Crusader was used extensively in combat operations in Vietnam, played a crucial role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and gave the newer F-4 Phantoms a fair run for their money in terms of air combat capability during this time. It is interesting to note that the 'elderly' F-8 Crusader had a better kill overall ratio in air combat in Vietnam than its F-4 successor.
This is part two of this model series, covering the F-8D, F-8E, and F-8H base models; with a total of 22 model options and 54 individual squadron paints. I am fairly confident that if any operational squadron of the USN and USMC used this aircraft from the late 50s to the late 60s, it is covered here at some time frame. Subsequent releases will include the later USN/USMC models, as well as the French and Philippine exports. Extensive credits and instructions are in the documentation.
