US Airways OC Airbus A320-214 (N124US) with Lighting Effects and Updated FDE Download

File Description:
I am proud to present this highly detailed repaint of US Airways A320-214, registration N124US, in their old livery. US Airways was founded in my home state of Pennsylvania by the DuPont family in 1939 as a mail courier service, and became a passenger carrier in 1949. US Airways has changed its name 4 times until taking the current name. This airframe was delivered to US Airways from Airbus in November of 2000 and is the last CFM equipped 214 model purchased by US Airways. Subsequent to this, US Airways has been purchasing the IAE equipped 231 and 232 models. US Airways operates 66 A320's, using them to provide domestic service throughout the US and international service to the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico. I paid attention to detail and realism as much as possible. I added some dirt and grime to the airframe in parts where it showed in photos of this aircraft. I also distressed the Vstab lines as this part of these aircraft from US Airways always look the worst. I think these details have added a realistic touch without being overdone. This full installation package includes the Project Airbus A320 CFM V2 model and air files, a modified FDE (with permission from Peter Binamira of Project Airbus), A320 lighting enhancements and 32-bit textures. Uses default 737-400 panel and sounds. Please see Install.txt for installation details.

DC-4 / C-54 / Carvair sound.cfg Download

File Description:
In my search for sounds that would be (nearly) matching the real sounds of the Douglas C-54/DC-4 and the Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair (vehicle ferry conversion of the C-54 and DC-4), I struck on the DC-3 Sound Pack compiled by Des Braban several years ago. Although intended as a DC-3 sound set, it doesn't quite sound like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp C-series (aka R-1830) engines which powered the majority of the DC-3/C-47/C-53 aircraft. Instead it sounds much more like the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp D-series (aka R-2000) engines which powered the C-54/DC-4 and, later on, the Pan American converted Hi-Per DC-3, the EC-47Q, the DHC-4 Caribou and ATL.98 Carvair. In order to make the sound set appropriate for the four engined C-54/DC-4/Carvair, I slightly altered the sound.cfg by just doubling the number of engines and copying some existing lines. Nothing else has been changed. All the wav files remained unaltered and no wav files have been added. The result, however, is a full sound which is very close to that of the real C-54/DC-4/Carvair. In order to get the proper sound, you will require Des Braban's DC-3 Sound Package (dc3sndpk.zip). Original sound.cfg by Des Braban; revised for Douglas DC-4/C-54 and Aviation Traders ATL.98 Carvair by Maarten Brouwer.

Honolulu International Airport, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii (PHNL) with Active Crosswind Runways V2 Download

File Description:
A high quality AFCAD2 for Honolulu Int'l Airport (PHNL). Only for use with the freeware scenery by Bill Melichar (honov5.zip). The file is built from scratch using the latest FAA charts, various photographs and information from the airport website, in order to be as near real as possible. All taxiways are named as per real life and runway lengths are 100% accurate. All Airline gates are named as per real life and have the correct airlines assigned to them. Using the crosswind runway technique, all runways are now active for use at the same time. The Air Freight Terminal, to the west of the airport is also featured, with parking assignments for the cargo carriers that use it. Hickham AFB parking is included, consisting of a Military Combat area, Military Cargo area and airline gates for troop charter flights. Maintenance parking for Air Pacific, Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian airlines jets can be found on the south ramp area. An extensive GA area can also be found on the south ramp, and can accomodate any privately owned aircraft ranging from Cessna to Boeing 747. It is recommended (but not necessary) that you also download the freeware "Hickam AFB" scenery by Derek and Brendan Webb (dbwsimhickam04.zip) as it greatly enhances the appearance of the Air Force Base. This file has been extensively tested and all AI flows as it should. New in this release are updated gate assignments for new airlines that recently started to serve Honlulu, plus updated parking for new cargo carriers. Previous version of this file had over 2000 downloads. Enjoy!!

MNPC Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Googly scenery for MNPC Puerto Cabezas - a small international airport in Nicaragua for which no facilities are provided in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. These scenery files create the airport and add taxiways, aprons, buildings and other airport features, so that you and your "AI" traffic can land, taxi, park and take off in a realistic manner.

The airport, with its new Rigoberto Cabezas terminal opened in 2000, serves the city of Puerto Cabezas and is surrounded by beautiful beaches and lush scenery. Unfortunately, the country of Nicaragua has been embroiled in civil unrest almost continuously since it became an independent republic in 1838, most of which is funded and fuelled by other countries seeking to interfere with Nicaragua's politics. For this reason, the country has no national airline or international flights of its own - the major powers refuse to accept its currency - and commercial traffic is confined to local flights operated by small craft from adjoining countries like those of Atlantic Airlines de Honduras and TACA Regional.
Fortunately, in Flight Simulator you do not need to worry about world politics and you will be assured of a "virtual" welcome when you call in here. Please say a small prayer for world peace when you do.

The scenery does not purport to be ultra-accurate. Based on high-detail satellite imagery from Google Earth, the layout is proportionally correct but the added airport features, such as buildings, are built from default Microsoft objects and add-on libraries so will not look exactly like the real thing.

You are not obliged to download and install any additional scenery libraries, but to enjoy this scenery in its entirety, you may wish to. It will work fine, with or without. [File re-uploaded at request of AVSIM]

Lismore Regional Airport (YLIS) Download

File Description:
A very attractive small airport approximately 130 nautical miles from Coffs Harbour and a slightly shorter distance to Grafton and Ballina. This makes a good stopover for hopping down the east coast of Australia. The airport handles around 7 flight a day from Sydney and is also a busy GA aiport. A new terminal is a major feature of the airport with a very modern design. This terminal was opened on Dec 9 2000 and replaces an older style building to be found in the general aviation area. The terminal is at the northern end of the aiport and the GA area the furthest south. The size of the airport has allowed me to put in that extra detail which makes the terminal and surrounds very much "as in real life". Photographic textures are used throughout for the buildings, trees and shrubs. Thanks to the cooperation of the airport manager and Lismore Council, the owners of the airport, a very accurate model of the airport has been produced from over 250 photographs taken on site. AFCAD and Traffic Tools files are included to add extra AI traffic. For that reason and because of limited apron space few static planes have been used. In addition a landclass is included to make the airport ground texture resemble the real thing and also to widen the river and show the lake to the east of the airport.. The scenery concentrates on adding a realistic terminal to the airport and hangars which are as close as possible to the real thing. Many other details have been added all authentically Lismore. Some night lighting is included including some very distinctive airport lights in the car park.

Bryce Canyon National Park (KBCE), Utah, Photo-Scenery Download

File Description:
Bryce Canyon National Park (KBCE), Utah, Photo-Scenery (FS9 & FSX)

Despite its name, Bryce Canyon is not actually a canyon that was formed by a river, but rather a giant natural cliff shaped through erosion by wind, water, and ice. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological formations, delicate and colorful pinnacles called hoodoos that are up to 200ft high. The bizarre forms and red, orange and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views. Unfortunately the hoodoos are too small for the elevation mesh in flight simulator. But you can enjoy the colors and shape of the cliffs. The cliffs in main region of the park, just south of the airport are partly covered by snow. But on the southern and western part of the plateau you can enjoy them free of snow. Bryce Canyon is named after the Mormon pioneer Ebenezer Bryce who settled in this area in the 1850s. It was designated as a national park in 1928.

Bryce Canyon Airport (KBCE) just handles small aircraft on a daily basis. But is was actually built to handle larger aircraft in case of emergency. And so on Oct.6th 2000 an American Airlines MD-82 from Denver to Los Angeles made a successful emergency landing after reporting smoke in the cockpit and a loss of cabin pressure.
High resolution versions of this scenery for FS9 and FSX (much sharper, but larger and multiple downloads)are available at www.blueskyscenery.com/CNY_South2West4.html . The screenies are taken from the high-res versions, so expect this version to be slightly more blurry. Thanks to Joop Mak for providing a custom AFCADs that correct airport layouts so that they align with the photo-textures! They are available here: www.blueskyscenery.com/AFCADs.html . YourDonation@Work: Dedicated to Michael, Pat and Keith.

PAKN - King Salmon - Alaska, US V1 Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
This is the final version, complete in itself and incorporating the two modifications posted separately. King Salmon is a town with a population of just under 400, on the north bank of the Naknek River and 15 miles from the sea. The airport is adjacent to the town and was originally an airforce base; the military hangars on the airport are still usable. The airport, with its long runway (11-29 and 8,500 feet with an ILS, and a second runway 18-36 and 4,000 feet) is a transportation hub for the area in general and in particular for the salmon industry. Along the Naknek River there are numerous canneries and there are also fishing lodges on the river and nearby lakes; to speed up transportation to the lodges there are float bases on the river to the south of the airport. King Salmon has three tiers of scheduled flights: Alaska Air direct from Anchorage in a 737 (passengers and cargo), PenAir (Saab turboprop) as part of their flights up and down the peninsula, and Grant Air serving nearby small towns. There are also PenAir flights, both scheduled and unscheduled, in smaller aircraft (Piper Navajo for instance) to smaller airports for the fishing season, plus cargo flights in larger aircraft by the lowest bidder (Everts and Northern). To complete the mix the AI includes a pair of F15s. The runways cross (see the airport diagram) so read the notes re long taxi routes. There is AI for PAKN, plus revised AI made for Dutch Harbor which includes flights by PenAir to King Salmon, plus revised parking for Dutch Harbor with new replacement bgls to cater for more flights. There is also AI for the float bases on the river; I have made two runways separated into two float bases for river AI, called King Salmon Floats and King Salmon River; more AI for these will be added when other scenery along the river is made. Just land according to the wind and taxi to whatever dock takes your fancy.

Port Hardy CYZT in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Port Hardy airport is on the coast of Vancouver Island in BC, at the far northern end and 5 miles east of the town. The town and the airport are both gateways to local touristic attractions such as Cape Scott Provincial Park, the North Coast and BC Marine Trails, and kayaking, caving, surfing, fishing, camping, and scuba diving (and I discovered just how big orca are). Fishing, logging, and mining have been important and to an extent still are for the town population of just over 4,000. The airport, along with the ferries, connects Port Hardy to the rest of the west coast with Pacific Coastal Saab 340 or Beechcraft 1900C flights to and from Vancouver at least twice a day. There are also Grumman Goose amphibious flights to local float bases such as Port McNeill, Alert Bay, Whaletown, Surge Narrows, Echo Bay, and Minstrel Island. These are all included in the AI and previously posted. There are three runways: 11-29 of 5,000 feet with ILS on 11 and righthand circuits on 29, 07-25 of 4,000 feet with righthand circuits on 25, and 16-34 with a much shortened 3,500 feet on 34 due to a displaced threshold. There is a control tower but it is not manned 24 hours a day; a "mandatory frequency" (MF for short and a Canadian invention) is used by the tower when it is manned, and when there is no tower response the aircraft continues to announce intentions and position. Something I have been meaning to explain to those who query it, is that in real life as well as in FS9 helicopters at a mixed use airport or airfield will act as if they are planes and join downwind, turn on base and then finals, "land" along the runway and then use the taxiway to the parking. This means all aircraft are doing the same thing and an orderly queue avoids collisions. This is one of a series connected in some way with Pacific Coastal airline destinations, the first being Bella Coola. There is AI available for Pacific Coastal online.

Bella Coola CYBD in British Columbia, Canada Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
Bella Coola is in one of the deep east-west fjords amid the Coastal Range on the coast of BC, approximately mid way between Vancouver and the Alaskan border and some 70 miles inland from the open ocean. The town of Bella Coola has a small population of around 150, while the population of the whole Bella Coola Valley is around 2,000. The valley is warmer in both summer and winter than the surrounding area, and tourism flourishes along with forestry, fishing, and local government administration. Although there is road access, the ferry service is the main connection to larger coastal towns or cities such as Vancouver. The airport, 7 miles east of the town, is connected by daily Pacific Coastal flights to Vancouver and Anahim Lake (to the east). The asphalt runway is 4,200 feet long and aligned 04-22 in FS9 (by 2010 this had changed to 05-23 in reality) and is without lighting of any sort, so it is restricted to daylight hours only. At the eastern end is the terminal building and in the middle the West Coast Helicopter hangar, which has a large fenced paddock-like enclosure in front of it. The helicopters hop over the three feet high fence as they "taxi" to the apron in front of the hanger (but not in FS9!). Between the two there are four other company hangars spread out along the roadway beside the fence. I have never seen the airfield in Summer, and I have not attempted to replicate the apron as it now shows in Google Earth. The screenshots show the main and overwhelming feature of Bella Coola, the large valley amid the steep mountains. This terrain has an inevitable effect on the ai, in that you will never see a plane land as it hits solid rock before it makes it to the runway. You will, however, see them take off. Pacific Coastal currently flies Beechcraft 1900's to Bella Coola; I have used the Saab 340 which I have seen there some years ago and which I prefer.

Ansaldo S.V.A.-5 (V.01) Download

Images related to this file:

File Description:
One of the faster airplane of WWI thanks to an innovative design, the S.V.A. was the first airplane conceived and built entirely in Italy. The initials "S.V.A." stand for the names of Savoia and Verduzio, the two engineers that designed it, and of Ansaldo, the firm that built over 2000 of them starting from 1917. The Ansaldo S.V.A. was an entire family of Italian reconnaissance biplane aircraft of World War I and the decade after. Originally conceived as a fighter, the S.V.A. was found inadequate for that role. Nevertheless, its impressive speed, range and operational ceiling made it an excellent reconnaissance aircraft and even light bomber.

The S.V.A. became legendary among pilots for some of its memorable flights; first, above all, the one over Vienna: this flight was an epic action performed by Italian poet and nationalist patriot Gabriele D'Annunzio on 9th August 1918. After the war, thanks to the strong determination of Arturo Ferrarin and Guido Masiero( the pilots), two S.V.A.9s (the two seater version of the S.V.A.-5) flew for 18000Km from Rome to Tokyo (14th February / 31st May 1920). Another S.V.A., piloted by Antonio Locatelli, first flew alone across the Andes (30th July 1919).
Production of the aircraft continued well after the war, with the final examples delivered in 1928. In 1919 some S.V.A.s were used in airmail routes by "Gruppo Sperimentale Comunicazioni Aeree", a group formed by the Italian Army in order to prove the feasibility of commercial air services. The Regia Aeronautica (Royal Italian Air Force, since 1923) employed the S.V.A. in operational units in Italy and North Africa (Lybia) as well as for pilot training. Many war-surplus planes were employed by commercial flying schools.

Complete aircraft, 5 Different Hi-Res GMax models (5 different versions, three S.V.A.-5 and two S.V.A.-9), features the usual moving parts, such as all flight controls. Five different liveries (three WWI and two post-war). VC and 2D Panel. Models, panels and paints by Manuele Villa, Flight dynamics, Handling notes and tutorials by FSAviator. September 2008. Installation instructions included.
