File Description:
cfs2/Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat No. 3 VF-27, USS Princeton, September, 1944. Painted over The B24 Guy's F6F-3 Overhauled Model. Pilot: Ens. Gordon A. Stanley. This Hellcat rests at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, along with the USS Princeton, sunk on October 24, 1944 by a well placed bomb by a lone "Judy." Ens. gordon scored a total of eight kills in this aircraft. Twelve years later (1956), Stanley died in a crash of a F9F-6. By revev. Enjoy!

Shirley--flying this aircraft--downed five fighters in a single dogfight. His Hellcat never had the chance to wear the 12.5 kill flags, as it, along with the USS Princeton was lost later the same day. By revev. Enjoy!

On November 23, 1943, Franks downed five aircraft in only a matter of minutes. No kill flags were painted on his aircraft at the time, as he never flew #37 again after the five in one day kills.
