| Kotzebue PAOT on the northwestern coast of Alaska |

File Description:
There are four main northwestern Alaska towns which have good airports and are serviced by Alaska Airlines. From these airports local flights connect to nearby villages, "nearby" in Alaska meaning up to 150 miles away. The northernmost is Barrow. Southwest of Barrow is Kotzebue, then Nome, and the furthest south is Bethel. The town of Kotzbue is north of the Bering Strait on the northwestern coast, 320 miles southwest of Barrow. The population is just over 3,000 people. The location was for a long time a base for trading in furs, with three rivers emptying into the sea and providing routes into the interior land and villages; a meeting place between hunters and traders from Russia and elsewhere. The Kotzebue airport is called the Ralph Wien Memorial and has two runways. The modern one is aligned 08-26 and is 5,880 feet of 150 feet wide asphalt built across a shallow lagoon, with an ILS on 08 and PAPI on both ends. The second and older runway is originally military and gravel, aligned 17-35 and 3,786 feet long and used (wind allowing) by the GA planes that park alongside the runway. The prevalent wind is from the west; when the wind is from the east it is generally relatively feeble and with a much lower cloud base, possibly to the ground, hence the need for an ILS. All AI aircraft in FS9 much prefer to use a runway that has an ILS and so will continue to use 08-26 even if the wind is from the south until it reaches 30+ knots, even if they are a Cessna 150 flying VFR. So for AI realism in FS9 a northern or southern wind needs to be a strong one so that the runway is actually used. However, as Alaska Airlines, Northern Air Cargo, and Everts Air also fly to Kotzebue and can only use the east-west runway (as less than 4,000 feet of asphalt would be seriously inconvenient for a Boing 737 or DC6) it is necessary to have the northern or southern wind UNDER 30 knots at the times when they are landing or taking off. Your choice. I suppose a permanent strong wind from the west would be the most realistic on a daily basis, deterring all planes from ever using 17-35. The AI will develop along with further scenery additions in the neighbourhood.

This aircraft was lost in the atlantic ocean shortly after take-off from New York to Cairo as MSR990 on October 31st 1999. This is my personal tribute to the 217 people who died on board this plane. RIP

Two textures for David Maltbys DH-106 Comet 4C.
You need to download and install the latest version of the model fom his website www.dmflightsim.co.uk.
These textures in this package depict the only two Comet 4C in The USA. Westernair of Albuquerque acquired three Comet 4C from Mexicana in 1973. Two of them were refurbished and repainted and hoped to sell them complete to an airline. The third aircraft was never made flyable and remained in Mexico.
C/n 06424 (ex XA-NAR) became N888WA and purchased 1978 by Redmond Air, which intended to use the plane for charter flights from Washington State to Las Vegas. The Comet was delivered to Everett. But the plans came to nothing and the aircraft remains at Everett, preserved today for the Seattle Museum of Flight.
C/n 06425 (ex XA-NAS) became N999WA and purchased 1976 by Dick Drost for his "Naked City Nudist Colony" in Indiana. The Comet was flown from storage in Albuquerque to Chicago O'Hare. But never used by the Colony, it was scrapped in 1993 in Chicago.
Despite both Comets had not a flying career in the US, we have the chance to fly them in the Simulator now.

The NorthEastern USA Military AI Aircraft and Airbase Collection Part 1: 2006 Maine Military AI Aircraft and Airbases package is the first in a series of complete Military AI packages that will cover all the currently active military aviation units in the New England states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island along with New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This first package includes represenative AI fixed and rotary wing aircraft for all the military aviation units currently operating in the state of Maine, AFCADs for Bangor International Airport (KBGR) and Naval Air Station Brunswick (KNHZ) and novel and unique demonstration flightplans utilizing all of the above. Complete AI versions or conversions of such aircraft as the USN P-3C, USNR C-130T, USN SH-60B, USN HH-1N, ME ANG KC-135E, ME ARNG UH-60A, ME ARNG/CD RAID OH-58R, OSACOM C-12D and VT ANG F-16C (refueling flight conversion) are included. My thanks to John Young for the use of a modification of his excellent KBGR scenery version 3 and to Henry Tomkiewicz, Mike Stone, Jordan Moore, Owen Hewitt and Rok Dolonec for the use of their excellent aircraft models. GMG Airline was established in 1997 and started domestic operations on 6 April 1998. International services were launched six years later on 8 September 2004, with a service from Chittagong to Kolkata.
GMG began regular flights to Bangkok, Delhi and Kathmandu on 20 October 2006. It started services to Kuala Lumpur on 24 January 2007. The airline started its operation to the Middle East with daily flights to Dubai on 1 February 2008. In July 2010, GMG initiated flights to Jeddah and Riyadh.
The airline also served Abu Dhabi and Karachi as well as domestic stations Jessore and Sylhet
A GMG Airlines Bombardier Dash 8 In February 2008 the airline added a leased Boeing 747-300 to the fleet starting wide-body operations, this proved to be a White Elephant in an era which saw Global economic problems and an unprecedented peak in oil prices, thus causing a substantial loss to the carrier, the 747 was eventually phased out after just five months of service.On 17 June 2009, the largest conglomerate of Bangladesh, BEXIMCO took a 50% stake in the airline, re-branding it and raising service standards to a higher level.
