File Description:
Tips and Tricks Number 18 - January 2006 Edition. A collection of useful ideas and recommendations to start your New Year off right. Included is the popular "From the E-Mail Bag" department which answers a question of general interest. Additionally, several readers have provided a few items which I think will provide a chuckle or two. Updated indexes by John Burford for the entire series in Excel (xls) and Adobe Acrobat (pdf) formats are included. As usual, I have attempted to include something of value for everyone, regardless of your experience level. Please unzip to a temporary location using the folders option.
Compiled in .doc and .pdf formats for your flying enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall.

File Description:
By request in repainting my Fish'N Trips 206's as privates no logos I decided to do them. This is a US registered N4282J in Yellow color. I decided to repaint that look like a real working airplane in bush country. I decided to add a couple little details on it like bugs on the leading edge and struts, wearring out the anti skids, scratching the prop, adding labels and logos and weathering the float, scratching the wingtips, denting and scratching the floats and rear subfin, also replacing the alluminium paddle with a wooden one on the float. You must own a registered copy of Carenado's Cessna 206 in order to use these files.at www.carenado.com

| "Mystic Flight" Bell 206B LS |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This is a repaint of the Owen Hewitt/FSD Bell 206B LS Helicopter in the "fictional" livery of "Mystic Flight". This is a complete package for FS9 (FS2004) and has been tested as such. Installing this into FSX is done at your risk, although it "MAY" work with FSX. The livery is a mix of a photo realistic picture (the girl) and hand painting. All textures are formatted in 32 bit with the inclusion of an updated Alpha for better shine. Installation Instructions, Distribution Limitations and Contact details for me are contained within the Read Me file. While this may not be to every ones liking, it is a change from the rudimentary real life liveries.

| Milviz King Air 350 Royal Air Force |
|
Images related to this file:
File Description:
This is a repaint of the excellent MilViz King Air 350i in the colours of the Royal Air Force. Known in military service as the Shadow R1, the real aircraft is actually a King Air 350ER modified by Raytheon for use as an intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance platform. As a result, it's festooned with a vast array of additional sensors, aerials and other 'lumps and bumps' so I've had to use a little artistic licence...
This particular example, ZZ507, is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, UK and is the latest Shadow to be accepted into service with 14 Sqn. Repaint by Craig West, using the paint kit kindly supplied by MilViz

| Project Fokker 100 / 70 Autopilot Fix |
|
File Description:
Solves the problems with the autopilot hold switches for the Project Fokker 100 / 70 series. There is now a means to fix it in such a way that you can now set your hold switches directly from the 2D panel via the mouse clicks instead of by keyboard command (for those of us that can't remember the difference between a what a Shift + R and a Ctrl + R command do). Works in all aspects of flight (alt hold, hdg hold, approach hold, etc).
This fix assumes you have the default 2D panel that came with the PF10070v2 executable, and also assumes you've downloaded and installed Mike Stone's C17 (available here or at www.pmstone.com) for the necessary gauges.

| Amelia Earhart's L10E Electra |
|
File Description:
This aircraft is a customization, upgrade and optimization of Arik Hohmeyer's fine L10E from FS-Design Berlin. The intent was to match it as closely as possible to Earhart's L10E Lockheed Electra. Dave Bitzer's research at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. and independent work by Alex Nicolson resulted in over two-dozen flight-dynamics changes, including proper-capacity long range tanks. Norman Hancock designed two custom panels for this historic aircraft; a classic version with a Sperry AP and a modern one with a digital AP and more navigation equipment. The Cambridge Engine Analyzer, Sextant, Drift Meter, and pop-up E6-B computer are standard on both panels. Easy one-step install.

| CYOW |
|
File Description:
This is a heavily edited AFCAD for the default FS2004 Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport. It adds more accurate parking to the terminal, put's the cargo planes in the cargo area, not the main terminal, it also adds very accurate de-icing pads, and a lot of apron and taxiway lighting. It also makes a lot of cosmetic fixes to the airport, as well as gets rid of some non-existent (to my knowledge) tarmac/gravel apron area. As with most of my AFCAD's, I have used a generous helping of artistic licence. Overall it should make Ottawa MacDonald-Cartier International Airport a little more accurate/intresting. BTW. This represets the current state of CYOW with the new termial.

| FFX Allegheny Airlines Boeing 727-200 |
|
File Description:
Re-upload. The Allegheny 727-200 is a systems integration project combining an enhanced panel and sound with the FFX gmax 727 and a new `from scratch' FD. The panel is a revised version originally by Charles Fox which is brightly lit and works well with the FDE. A sound set based on the DRC 737-200 JT8D pak adds an element of realism to the mix with synthesized cockpit windrush and other gear and flaps effects. A great repaint by Paul van Harte tops off the package in fabulous DXT3 alpha `no mips' format. The FFX Carlson Trinkle 727-200 enhancement project is an ongoing one and support /updates will be provided going forward.
