| YLEA Leeman, Western Australia (Snag Island) airstrip and town |

File Description:
YLEA Leeman - formerley Snag Island is a tiny fishing village which is ideal for fishermen and holiday makers eager to get away from the more commercialised centres. Calling itself the 'Home of Western Australia's Dhufish' the settlement boasts huge and dramatic white sand dunes, good beach and offshore fishing, safe beaches for surfing, swimming and sailboarding, and superb displays of wildflowers in the spring. Leeman is home to a crayfish (lobster) fishing fleet which plies the fishing grounds off the coast in the season. The industry developed in the 1950s and has since become one of the most important on the Central West coast. It is also a dormitory suburb for the nearby sand mining town of Eneabba. YLGB Bidyadanga (La Grange Bay), the largest aboriginal community in WA has a population of 500 people and is situated 190km south of Broome. This is the traditional country of the Karajarri People who had their native title acknowledged by the Federal Court of Australia in 2003. Facilities in the community of Bidyadanga include a large community store, fuel outlet, multi-functional police unit, school, telecentre, and a community swimming pool completed in 2007. YLUW Leeuwin Estate, one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district, consistently produces wines that rank with the world's finest. In 1972, following an extensive search for the area most suitable to produce the best varietal wines in Australia, legendary American winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard. Originally a cattle farm, Leeuwin Estate evolved, under the direction of Denis and Tricia Horgan, with Robert Mondavi acting as consultant and mentor. A nursery was planted in 1974 and the initial vineyards were deep-ploughed, deep-ripped, emptied of stone, planned, pegged, measured, marked and eventually planted by hand over a five year period from 1975. Featuring state-of-the art facilities, the winery building was opened in 1978, celebrating with a trial vintage. Leeuwin enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979, and was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay in an international blind tasting. YMBE Mooliabeenie Siding is a disused 1,500 m (4,900 ft) long satelite airstrip which was used by the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and associated with the Caversham Airfield at Middle Swan. Like the Caversham Airfield, the Mooliabeenee Airfield was later used an auto racetrack. Local car clubs regularly use the site for motorkhana events. REQUIRES Blencowe_LibraryKit.zip

YMDN Merredin Town and Airfield - includes townsite landclass. Merredin, a town better known for its wheat and sheep exports. But for almost a decade, it's where one of Asia's busiest carriers, China Southern Airlines, has been sending its trainee pilots to learn how to fly. "They come from a country with a population of more than a billion people. Right now they live in Merredin - population, depending on who's visiting, around 2,000. For nine years now, they and hundreds like them have travelled to WA's empty, sprawling Wheatbelt to learn how to fly. The middle of the Wheatbelt is not the first place you'd look for the future of Chinese commercial aviation. But before these fledgling flyers can spread their wings with China's largest airline, they must pass six months of boot camp in Merredin. Most of them are from China's southern provinces. Their backgrounds are varied. For many of them, it's the first time that they've operated some form of machinery, which includes those students that haven't even had an exposure to driving a motor car. It's early days in their careers. The students are putting in the groundwork. First, mastering the art of piloting single-engine two-seater planes. It's all preparation for the Boeings and airbuses they'll eventually be flying on major international routes. The pressure is intense. Every aspect of the student's progress is measured. Failure can have serious implications for their hopes of becoming commercial pilots. It's part theory and part practical. But flying isn't the only thing that these young men have to get used to in Merredin. For one, there's the incredibly slow pace of country life. YMGM Mount Gibson Gold Mine (Care and Maintenance - Legend Mining Ltd), started life as a gold mining operation in 1986 following the discovery of gold in outcropping laterite (ironstone). Mining was conducted until 1998, with 95% of ore coming from 14 open pits. The operation produced 870,000 ounces of gold from 16.5Mt of ore at an average grade of 1.68 grams per tonne (g/t). The current gold Mineral Resource (Indicated and Inferred) is 8,754,000 tonnes at an estimated grade of 1.98 g/t gold (559,000 ounces of gold). This resource is not economic at the current gold price. An extensive rehabilitation programme involving the decommissioning of the plant/mill infrastructure is currently being undertaken with a view to reducing environmental bonds. YUSL Useless Loop Salt Mine - now with bgl textures for ORBX. Useless Loop is located in the Southern Region of Shark Bay, Western Australia and is a closed company town, servicing the Solar Salt Operation Shark Bay Salt which has been in operation since 1968 and whose salt is renowned as the purest in the world. The first half of Useless Loop's unusual name was bestowed upon it by French explorer Henri-Louis de Saulces de Freycinet, who dubbed the area "Havre Inutile" ("Useless Harbour"), because he believed the inviting harbour to be entirely blocked by a sandbar. | YPLU Plutonic Gold Mine, Peak Hill, Western Australia |

The Plutonic Gold Mine is located 82 km east north east of Peak Hill, Western Australia. It is operated by Barrick Gold and located at the Plutonic Well Greenstone Belt. In 1988, Great Central Mines discovered the deposit which was to become Plutonic, which the company sold for A$50 million. The site was then owned by Plutonic Resources, a major Australian gold mining and exploration company. Homestake Mining Company purchased Plutonic in April 1998 for more than $1.0 billion, and, in turn, Homestake was acquired by Barrick Gold at the end of 2001. REQUIRES Blencowe_LibraryKit.zip

YPNW Pannawonica with FSX default and ORBX tints condensed into one zipfile. The town of Pannawonica is an iron-ore mining town located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, near the Robe River, about 200��� km south-west from Karratha. In 2006, it reportedly had the highest median weekly income of any town in Australia, due to the high income of its mine workers. Pannawonica was built in 1970 by Cleveland-Cliffs Robe River Iron (predecessor of the present Robe River Iron Associates) and was gazetted as a townsite in 1972. The township�¢����s name was derived from nearby Pannawonica Hill, named by a surveyor in 1885 after the corresponding Aboriginal placename which is said to mean "the hill that came from the sea". The traditional legend is that two local Aboriginal tribes were arguing over the ownership of the hill which was located by the sea. The sea spirit decided to resolve the dispute by moving the hill inland. As the hill was dragged over the land it left a deep indentation which became the Robe River. Pannawonica is one of a number of remote-area iron-ore-mining towns built throughout the Pilbara to house workers operating open-cut mines and the loading of ore trains. It is a 'closed town', having limited facilities for visitors, the company's accommodation being reserved for its staff and visiting contractors. Some visitor accommodation is available at the Pannawonica Tavern. Pannawonica is home to more than 800 people, comprising Robe and Pilbara Iron employee families, staff on fly-in fly-out (�¢����fifo�¢����) roster from Perth, and those involved in support services.
