RAF Church Fenton

File Description:
RAF Church Fenton (ICAO: EGXG) was an Royal Air Force station in North Yorkshire, near the village of Church Fenton. Plans for a new airfield adjacent to the village of Church Fenton were announced in June 1935, it was subject to protest from the local population particularly concerning the waste of valuable farming land and was close to an existing airfield not far away at Sherburn. Despite the protests construction started in early 1936 on the site, which was a mixture of private and West Riding County Council-owned farm land. On 1 April 1937, the station was declared open and on 19 April the first station commander Wing Commander W.E. Swann assumed command. Within two months No. 71 Squadron RAF had arrived with their Gloster Gladiators. Second World War Opened in 1937, the station saw the peak of its activity during the years of the Second World War, when it served within the defence network of fighter bases of the RAF providing protection for the Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Humberside industrial regions. During September 1940, it became home to the first RAF "Eagle squadron" of American volunteers being No. 71 Squadron RAF. The airfield was also home to both the first all-Canadian and all-Polish squadrons, with No. 242 Squadron RAF for the Canadians and No. 306 Squadron RAF for the Polish. As technologies evolved, the first night fighter Operational Training Unit (54 OTU) was formed at Church Fenton in 1940 and stayed until 1942. RAF Breighton (1944)

File Description:
The airfield was built between 1940 and 1942 for No. 1 Group RAF, its first residents were the No. 460 Squadron RAAF. From 1959 to 1963, as part of Project Emily, the base was a launch site for three nuclear-armed PGM-17 Thor intermediate-range ballistic missiles, operated by No. 240 Squadron RAF. The base closed in March 1964, when the last active unit (which operated the Bristol Bloodhound air-defence missile) withdrew. Source:Wikipedia

RAF Spilsby Airfield

File Description:
RAF Spilsby, situated 3 miles E of Spilsby, 8 miles west of Skegness, in Lincolnshire, was a 5 Group Bomber Command station, opening in September 1943. Spilsby was home to 207 and 44 Squadron, flying Lancasters. The airfield closed in November 1946, breifly reopening in the 1950's. Today the site is used for Agriculture. No: 207 Squadron Oct 1943 to July 1945 No:44 Squadron Sep 44 to July 1945 No 2 Armament Practice School. July 1945 to Nov 1946

RAF Hutton Cranswick

File Description:
RAF Hutton Cranswick opened in January 1942 as a fighter airfield within No. 12 Group RAF. Unusually for the time its three runways were concrete "from new", many airfields (particularly fighter airfields) were initially built with grass runways which were later upgraded to concrete. Many squadrons rotated through the airfield including 610, 19, 308 (City of Kraków), 316 (City of Warsaw), 195, 306 (City of Torun), 302 (City of Poznan), 315 (City of Deblin), 234, 168 and No. 170 Squadron RAF. From December 1943, the Anti-Aircraft Co-operation 291 Squadron was formed at the airfield for target towing and similar uses. Whilst in use by 291 other fighter squadrons continued to rotate through including 401, 403, 412, 441, 442, 443 (all flying Supermarine Spitfires) and 439 using Hawker Typhoons. The final unit to operate from Hutton Cranswick was No. 124 Squadron RAF using Spitfire IXs. File Description:
Cartagena's 'Rafael Núñez' International Airport is the largest airport in the northern Caribbean region of Colombia in passenger activity, named after a former Colombian president. This is an upgrade of the FSX stock airport, done with ADE. My basic mesh is FreeMeshX and I gave it a photoreal background and some detail. Tested only in FSX but may also work in P3D.

LOWK - Klagenfurt Airport - Austria ** Version 5 **

File Description:
Klagenfurt Airport (ICAO: LOWK), also known as Kaernten Airport, is the airport of Klagenfurt, the sixth-largest city in Austria. It is located near the city centre of Klagenfurt and serves some flights to European leisure and metropolitan destinations. Klagenfurt Airport consists of one small passenger terminal building which features some shops and restaurants as well as a visitors terrace. The apron provides several stands for mid-sized planes such as the Airbus A320 as well as smaller general aviation aircraft. As there are no jet bridges, busses are used for boarding.

RAF Lindholme (1940s)

File Description:
RAF Lindholme is located 3.9 miles (6.3 km) south of Thorne and 6.9 miles (11.1 km) north east of Doncaster and was initially called RAF Hatfield Woodhouse and started life as an expansion scheme aerodrome built on the wide expanse of Hatfield moors, some five miles east of Doncaster. The site, to the east of the A614 Thorne to Bawtry road, was a mile south of the small village of Hatfield Woodhouse, the name first selected for the new station. Work began in the spring of 1938 taking in approximately 250 acres (1.0 km2) of pasture for the airfield itself and a further 150 for the camp and support facilities. EGXJ - RAF Cottesmore - Rutland, England

File Description:
RAF Cottesmore (ICAO EGXJ) is a former Royal Air Force station in Rutland, England, situated between Cottesmore and Market Overton.

The Stationed opened on 11 March 1938 and was used mainly for training, and the first squadrons were equipped with Vickers Wellesley aircraft, but soon converted to Fairey Battles. Later RAF Bomber Command took over the airfield, again as a training station, flying Handley Page Hampdens. These units remained in residence until a few days before the outbreak of war in 1939 when they were sent to RAF Cranfield to serve as a pool providing replacements for combat losses. Their place at Cottesmore was taken by Nos. 106 and 185 Squadrons, moving in from RAF Thornaby with Hampdens. However, with the outbreak of war, the aircraft and crews were sent to locations in the north and west, as enemy air attacks were expected over the southern half of England. As these never materialised, the Hampdens returned in the spring of 1940 and No. 185 Squadron became the Hampden operational training unit, No. 14 Operational Training Unit RAF.

RAF Cottesmore's Hampdens' first trespass into hostile airspace was a leaflet dropping operation over northern France. In October 1940, 106 Squadron moved to RAF Finningley while No. 14 OTU remained training crews for Bomber Command, its Hampdens and HP.53 Herefords being replaced by Vickers Wellingtons in 1942. Training continued for three years and three months until August 1943 when No. 14 OTU moved to RAF Market Harborough.

In early December 2009, it was announced the station would close due to funding cut-backs, in part to help pay for additional helicopters for British operations in Afghanistan.
In 2010, No. 4 Squadron RAF disbanded, with No. 20 Squadron RAF re-badging as No 4 (Reserve) Squadron.
The station became a satellite to RAF Wittering on 31 March 2011 with a civic parade and flypast to mark the disbandment of No 1 Sqn RAF, 800 NAS, 801 NAS and JFH.
In July 2011 Defence Secretary Liam Fox announced plans for it to be the airfield for one of five of the Army's Multi-Role Brigades. In April 2012 it was renamed Kendrew Barracks after Major General Sir Douglas Kendrew.

RAF Dunholme Lodge - Lincolnshire, England **UPDATE**

File Description:
This is an-update to correct the location of the Tower, if you have installed my version uploaded on the 15 or 23 Oct 15 RAF Dunholme Lodge was a Royal Air Force station located between the parishes of Welton and Dunholme in Lincolnshire, England.

The grass airfield was first used by the Royal Air Force during 1941 and 1942 for use by Handley Page Hampden aircraft from nearby RAF Scampton, and was officially opened as a RAF Station in September 1942 as part of RAF Bomber Command with the building of three hard runways.

The main occupier of the station was 44 Squadron, with the Avro Lancaster four-engined heavy bomber, which moved in from RAF Waddington in May 1943 and stayed until it moved to RAF Spilsby in September 1944.

In November 1944 flying operations ceased due the proximity of other stations which did not allow night flying. At the end of the war 120 Lancaster's had been lost on operations from Dunholme Lodge.

From 1948 the site was host to motorcycle and car racing until 1959 when the base was reopened as an active RAF station when it became an active Bloodhound surface-to-air missile station with 141 Squadron. The Squadron in 1964 and the station finally closed in 1964. Source: Wikipedia.

X3WA - RAF Wheaton Aston Dec 1944 - Telford, UK

File Description:
Initially intended as a satellite station for RAF High Ercall; RAF Wheaton Aston (ICAO X3WA) opened for business on 10 February 1942 when the station was taken over by Flying Training Command and was used by No11 Pilots Advanced Flying Unit (PAFU) at RAF Shawbury as a relief landing ground (RLG). The Station was used intensely by the Airspeed Oxford and when No 21 PAFU with a large formation of Oxfords some 150 airframes being on charge formed at the station in 1943 the unit had its own (RLGs) When the PAFU moved to Morton in the Marsh its departure marked the end of RAF Wheaton Aston and the station closed in 1947, and like many war time stations reverted back to farmland.
