Central African Airways, Vickers Viscount 700 circa 1956

File Description: CAA purchased their first Vickers Viscount 748D on 25th April 1956. A further four were delivered in the same year. The aircraft came equipped with external slipper tanks for long-range operations. In 1957 the Viscounts took over the international service to Europe from Vickers Vikings. All the Viscounts except VP-YNE passed on to Air Rhodesia when Central African Airways was disolved in 1965. This V.748D (C/N 99) was built for CAA as VP-YNB and first flew on Saturday, 5 May 1956 at Hurn, Bournemouth, Dorset, England powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines. The start of a new decade and a fresh repaint for G-ARGR. Now with door outlines and new titles, she appears without the "Alpha" logo on the tail band. The following year the operations of Alidair were merged to form Inter City Airlines. Requires the FSDS Viscount 700 model by Rick Piper
