New 300-m (LOD7) Terrain Mesh of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska #1 |
![]() |
File Description:
Mid-resolution (300-m) terrain mesh for the entire province of British Columbia (950,000 square km) and the Alaska panhandle southeast of N60 W139. Made from 250m-resolution source data without oversampling. Easy on frame rates and hard drive space. It transforms the rounded mountains of the default terrain mesh into a much more realistic representation of the diverse topography of this beautiful corner of the world. Experience the spectacular scenery between Vancouver and Atlin, Juneau and Fort St. John, and Mount Robson to Clayoquot Sound. Fourteen independent mesh tiles allow you to select the region(s) you like best. Several high-resolution add-on meshes will be uploaded separately. By Holger Sandmann. Part 1 of 4: All areas north of 57 degrees.

Patches for LOD7/LOD9 Terrain Meshes of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska |
![]() |
File Description:
Patches (flatten files) for 108 lakes in British Columbia and Southeast Alaska that were either sunken below or raised above the terrain surface due to discrepancies between my add-on LOD7 and LOD9 mesh files and FS2002's default scenery. In some areas, such as the Prince George/Burns Lake region, the effect of the patches is obvious even from a great distance; in other areas, you'll have to be close to the lake to notice the difference. Also included are flatten files for nine airfields that had problems with sloping terrain or texture "bleed-through".

Terrain Mesh of Glacier National Park |
![]() |
File Description:
New and updated scenery enhancements for the mountain ranges of southeastern British Columbia and parts of the Alberta Rocky Mountains. They require an existing installation of my files bcmesh9d.zip and/or bcmesh9e.zip. Scenery coverage follows the Trans-Canada Highway from Banff National Park to west of Revelstoke (~350km), with accurate transportation network, rivers and lakes, hydro dams, ski hills, glaciers, and landclass/waterclass updates based on satellite imagery. Also, similar enhancements to the parks and towns of the southern Kootenay, Selkirk, and Monashee mountains. The mesh source data are 0.75-arcsec (~23-m) CDED files, compiled at LOD10 (38-m) resolution. Due to significant changes in FS2004 to vector layering and autogen features, the special scenery enhancements cannot be used with FS2002. However, terrain mesh, new lakes and land/waterclass replacements will work well in FS2002.

Himalayan Peaks Volume 2 - Mt. Everest photoreal textures |
![]() |
File Description:
The photoreal textures in this package cover an area of about 100km (E/W) by 60km (N/S) featuring Mt. Everest and several neighboring peaks and are based on a Landsat 7 ETM 15-m multispectral image taken in October 2000. The relatively low resolution of the image makes for pretty grainy textures up close and I did not add any autogen, seasonal textures, or flattened water bodies. Nevertheless, I do believe the photoreal textures do a much better job at showing the grandiose alpine features of this area - rock faces, snow fields, glaciers, and bare ground - than generic landclass textures possibly can. The textures are placed for a best fit with our Mt. Everest area LOD10 terrain mesh, fs_him_01.zip, but probably work OK with the default LOD8 mesh of this area or third-party terrain mesh files.

Monashee-Selkirk Region of Southern B.C., Canada Mesh |
![]() |
File Description:
New high-resolution (76-m) terrain mesh of two mountain ranges in south-central British Columbia, covering a 1.5-degree longitude by 2.5-degree latitude transect (N48.5-51, W117-118.5) from south of the U.S. border to Revelstoke and Glacier National Park. Visit the steep valleys and high alpine areas enclosed by Slocan Lake and the Arrow Lakes. Made from 50-m digital elevation data, resampled to LOD9 (76-m) horizontal spacing. Designed as an add-on to my LOD7 mesh of the entire province but can be used independently.

Austria & Germany - Innsbruck to Bad Toelz, Background Bitmaps |
![]() |
File Description:
This package DOES NOT contain finished FS scenery products! Instead, the three bitmaps (N46.7-47.8 E10.7-12.0) are meant to be used for FS landscape scenery design with Ground2K4 (by Christian Fumey) or similar utilities (see my Innsbruck_G2K4.zip). Source data are public domain Landsat 5 TM satellite images, at 30-m ground resolution and a NIMA SPOT satellite mosaic, at 10-m ground resolution (Innsbruck area only). I used professional GIS software for the geographic transformation to lat/long-WGS84 projection, and photo processing software for channel merging and image enhancements. Each image has been tested in Ground2K4 for accurate placement. Note: these images have been ECW-compressed and need special (free) software for decompressing (instructions included).

LOD10 (38-m) Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska |
![]() |
File Description:
This LOD10 (38-m) add-on mesh of Glacier Bay National Park and the adjacent Lynn Canal area between Juneau and Skagway (N58-60 W134-138) is an optional (!) upgrade of gl_bay_1.zip (by Holger Sandmann and Jim Keir). It adds more detail to the mountainous areas and allows to locally override other installed Alaska add-on meshes without having to deactivate them. The USGS NED seamless digital elevation data used for this mesh have a 2-arcsec (~60-m) resolution. Thus, the compilation as LOD10 (38-m) will reveal all terrain details contained in the source data. Please read the gl_bay_1.zip read-me file for further information about the special features of the Glacier Bay Project.
