Formerly known as Hong Kong Express, HK Express became a part of HNA Group (parent of Hainan Airlines) in 2006 and later transformed to a Low-cost Carrier in 2013 with the new name. The airframes retrofitted with the new livery carry nicknames named after snacks (dim sum) in Canton/Hong Kong, for example, 'Cha Siu Baau' for B-LCC.
