File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the Aerosoft PBY Catalina for FSX. It is shown here as C-FCRR, with Air France colors. Built by Boeing of Canada at Vancouver, it became RCAF Canso 9767 on March 4, 1943, and was allocated to Squadron 162, coded S, at Reykjavik, Iceland. In 1944, piloted by Flying Officers Thomas Charles Cooke and Eric Walter Wiskin, 9767 sank the German U-boat U-342 off the coast of Iceland on April 17. The amphibian was removed from the military service on April 1, 1946. The same year it was sold to Canadian Pacific Airlines, registered CF-CRR and assigned fleet number 233 (later 933), it was operated until 1959, thereafter by Northland Airlines (1960-1968), Midwest Airlines (1969-1970), and Ilford Riverton until 1973. The registration was changed to C-FCRR when Avalon Aviation acquired it as a water bomber in 1977, listed as Tanker number 791. In 1995 the aircraft was bought by Powell Eorp. Of Parry Sound, Ontario, subsequently it was owned by the Canadian Air Legend. The French pilot Franklin Devaux bought C-FCRR in 1995 and converted it to a flying television studio, it was based at Le Bourget, Paris, France. During 1996 C-FCRR was the star of monthly French television programme Operation Okavango, while in September 1998 it was the eye catcher of the three-week Champs-Elysees (Paris) static air show. The following October the aircraft started an 8,078 mls (13,000 km) trip to Chile via Dakar (Senegal) and Natal (Brazil) to commemorate early Air France South Atlantic mail service, returning to France in June 1999. On January 19, 2002 the aircraft was stored at Orly Airport, Paris, and has not flown since. Its Canadian registration was cancelled on October 7, 2005. At present it seems to be registered as N9767, and in airworthy condition again. Here's a youtube movie on this aircraft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6jyzV8Gawc. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the repaint kit by Aerosoft.

Category: X-Plane - Scenery
Paris, France Download

File Description:
Continuing my free releases for this year, here is my Paris scenery package that I designed for my personal use. This is my fourth scenery for 2004. Being the lazy person I am, no research was done and no claim to real life cities and airports is intended or implied. I have added many objects to the airports and city including terminals, hangers, buildings, castles, city landmarks and other fun and interesting things. All of which were culled from all the wonderful designers in the X-Plane Community such as B. Brooks & Christian Franz, Ted Davis, Tom Curtis, Ralph Glass, Tim Chandler, Didier Chauveau Many thanks to each of you for your contributions to the X-Plane community. If I left anyone out, I apologize. Like all my scenery packages, the additions to the citys and airports are purely fictional. The airports themselves are unaltered. I have enhanced Paris Orly (LFPO), Paris Le Bourqet (LFPB), Charles De Gaulle (LFPG) and a few of the outlying airports. All airports and cities come with Night Textures. Flying at dusk and dawn will add additional enjoyment to your experience. You may want to experiment with your Autogen settings for best results. I turn mine way down in the rendering settings so that autogen buildings don't sit on top of custom objects and roads. It will improve framerates as well. Installation: Place the extracted "Paris" folder into your "Custom Scenery" folder. I have included the apt.dat file for v7.41. If you use an earlier version of X-Plane, you can use the default apt.dat file for your particular XP version. Apt.dat files are different formats for v6 and v7. WinRar is very similar to Winzip but gives a better compression rate. It's available for both Mac and Windows and it is free. ONLY NONCOMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTION OF THESE FILES OR ANY DERIVED FILES IS PERMITTED. If you release a noncommercial version of your own, please mention the persons that your work is based on. Please send any comments or suggestions to [email protected]. If you choose to rate my Scenery Packs and give less than a "9" rating, I would appreciate knowing what I can do to improve them. I can only do that with your feedback. My Other Free Scenery Packages are: Charlotte-Rock Hill, Houston-Galveston, Iraq, London 2004, Nice, France, San Diego 2004, San Francisco 2004. All are available at X-Plane.org and AVSIM.com Have fun and FLY SAFE!.
