Lockheed Constellation for AI Traffic (Part 3). The Lockheed Constellation was a medium-to-long range airliner, military transport, and later an electronic warfare platform, in production from 1943 to 1958, and in service long after that, with many eventually finishing up their careers as freighters in remote parts of the world. I present an 8-LOD AI traffic model to bring this vintage transport aircraft to the flightsim world. Part 3 contains the L-049, L-649, and L-749 variants, with 9 models and 40 repaints. This is an FS9-native model, so it is compatible up through P3Dv3. Aircraft model, flight dynamics, and repaints by Michael Pearson.

Lockheed Constellation for AI Traffic (Part 4). The Lockheed Constellation was a medium-to-long range airliner, military transport, and later an electronic warfare platform, in production from 1943 to 1958, and in service long after that, many eventually finishing up their careers as freighters in remote parts of the world. I present an 8-LOD AI traffic model to bring this vintage transport aircraft to the flightsim world. Part 4 contains the L-1049 Super Constellation and L-1649 Starliner variants, with 9 models and 38 repaints. Additionally, there are updated lightmaps for all of of my previous Connie releases. This is an FS9-native model, so it is compatible up through P3Dv3. Aircraft model, flight dynamics, and repaints by Michael Pearson. Apologies for the four-year hiatus between the first three parts and this final installment.

This folder contains two repaints for the A2A Lockheed L049 Constellation in the colors of G-AHEL, before it went to Britair. British East Africa Airways was formed by Captain Marian Kozubski in November 1964, formerly owner of Falcon Airways, as a charter company to operate IT charters from Europe to East Africa. One L-049 (G-AHEL) was bought from Euravia and registered 5Y-ABF. It operated every thee weeks on schedules from Rotterdam to Nairobi and Mombasa via Malta staring 20 December 1964. A fleet of four 049's were planned, but the airline suspended operations at the end of the summer of 1965, and only operated that aircraft. 5Y-ABF/G-AHEL was finally scrapped in Shannon in 1966. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by A2A.

| Qantas Empire Airways Lockheed 749 Constellation |

File Description:
This is a repaint (textures only) of the FSDZigns Team Lockheed 049 Constellation. You must have the original aircraft to use these textures. The original aircraft fsdzl049a_v1.zip is available at www.Avsim.com and www.Flightsim.com. This represents Qantas Empire Airways L-749 VH-EAA as it would have appeared circa 1947. This is a ficticious rendering as Qantas did not have an 049 Connie. This aircraft was acquired new by Qantas in Oct. 1947 and was in service with Qantas until being sold to BOAC in Feb. 1955.

The company Nevada Airmotive bought TWA's L-049 fleet in 1962 for lease and/or resell them. But only fife of the 25 Constellations found new operators .
One of these aircrafts was c/n 2075, built 1946 and delivered to Air France as F-BAZD.Sold 1950 to TWA, reg. as N9414H, named "Star of Lebanon". Sold to Nevada Airmotive in 1962 and leased to Futura Airlines Inc. Oakland, CA. This Company was short lived - flights startet from Oakland to Lake Tahoe, but operations ceased a few month later and the Constellation went to Paradise Airlines. In 1964 she was sold to Pasco Avn. Inc. later to Zephyr Hills Inc. and stored at Miami, FL, 1947 leased to Quisqueyana Dom. Rep.ans subsequently scrapped at Miami 1970.

One of these aircrafts was c/n 2025, built 1945 and used by Lockheed as factory demonstrator until delivered to TWA as NC86504 "Star of France" in 1946. Sold to Nevada Airmotive in 1962 and leased to Futura Airlines and some month later to Paradise Airlines Inc. Oakland, CA. Paradise used the plane together with two further Constellations for flights from Oakland, Salinas, San Jose and other points in California to Lake Tahoe, bringing peoples to Horrah's gambling club there. Sadly N86504 crashed 1. march 1964 nine miles northwest of Lake Tahoe into the mountains with the lost of all 85 on board. Paradise AL then was forced to close down by FAA for failing to conduct a safe operation.

FS2004 Lockheed L-749A Constellation TWA 1958.
In June 1939 TWA (Transcontinental & Western Air) required a four-engined airliner capable of flying transcontinental US services non stop west to east or with one stop travelling in the opposite direction against the prevailing wind. The specification was drawn up by TWA's major shareholder Howard Hughes and TWA-director Jack Frye. The intial result was the L-49 Constellation, but before the first aircraft was built WWII broke out and the Connie was drafted by the militaries as C-69. After the war the C-69 was renamed L-049 Constellation and delivered to a.o. TWA (27). The L-649 and L-749 Constellations were the first true civil versions. TWA used 12 L-749's and 28 L-749A's from March 1948 till 1967. This particular L-749A, N6001C 'Star of New Jersey', flew with TWA from 24 March 1950 till September 1966. It was scrapped in 1968.
This repaint is a much improved version of the one issued in 2006. It has not been tested for the FSX version of Abacus' Constallation but probably will function there as well.

File Description:
At long last my "Project 749" comes to fruition. Totally rebuilt from my earlier efforts, this new Connie features all new fuselage, wing/body fillet, cockpit, and most importantly, 3 rounded tails fins all with working rudders, no small feat I can assure you. Colors are of Capital airlines, callsign is "capital 860". There is some color bleed on the gear doors - required to get all the parts and working features needed, but its a small compromise. Performance matches actual speeds, with plenty of power, and this graceful lady of the skies will throttle back to correct cruise speed.
