From June 1943 to August 1945, the 560th, 561st, 562nd and 563rd Bombardment Squadrons of the 388th Bombardment Group with B-17's, flew 331 missions (including 19 Aphrodite missions from Fersfeld) losing 179 B-17s. On 6 September 1943, the 388th lost 11 B-17's on a mission to Stuttgart including all the aircraft of the 563rd BS. The airfield was not used again and sold off in 1957.
This add-on is not compatible with VFR scenery. Sorry for that.
Included in the download is an AI traffic BGL file that makes this base come to life. To get this file working, you must have the Wings of Power Heavy Bombers and Jets add on installed. You must also have downloaded the two repaint set for the B-17 done by my friend Chuck Lawsen. This last file can be found here at Avsim, it�s called: wop_388_b17.zip This project is as always dedicated to all the brave young men that contributed to the effort of getting Europe out of the claws of a dark, perhaps the darkest period in modern history, but this time it is especially dedicated to 1st Lt. Ralph M. Reese, co-pilot 562nd Sqd., and of course all the brave men of the 388th.

Eastern Air Lines, Douglas DC-7B (N836D) livery for FS9/FSX - This aircraft in real life has been lovingly restored by the Historical Flight Foundation (HFF). It has recently been approved for flight by the FAA, and should be seen at airshows soon.
The HFF is unique in that its Douglas Aircraft Co. DC-7B aircraft represents the only U.S. based, four engine, passenger prop-liner in operation today. The aircraft being operated by the HFF was still in its original passenger configuration as delivered to Eastern Air Lines in January 1958. Of the 112 DC-7 aircraft produced, this is the only surviving passenger configuration aircraft. You can read more about this aircraft and get all the latest news at: http://www.n836d.com/
THIS FLIGHT SIMULATOR VERSION:
This livery is a re-creation of the aircraft restored by the HFF, and is accurate as of April 2010. It uses a special model created by Tom Gibson, to allow an accurate livery layout on the nose and nose gear doors. Please follow the installation instructions carefully. Corunna Downs heritage listed RAAF Base was a secret airfield located in scrub and spinifex country, about 16 kms south west of Marble Bar, the hottest part of the "The Pilbara" area of Western Australia. Not a very ideal place to have a tent city. Today there are very few reminders of the once busy airfield. One can see some crumbling foundations and half filled post holes. 73 OBU operated the Corunna Downs airfield which comprised two intersecting bitumen runways, now regressed and graded occasionally. One ran approximately north-south, 5,000 feet in length while the other ran approximately east-west, 7,000 feet in length. Both runways were approximately 150 feet wide. A 50 foot wide taxiway linked the northern end of the north-south runway to the western end of the east-west runway. Approximately 20 camouflaged revetments to disperse aircraft to minimise bomb damage were constructed at Corunna Downs. Permission is required for landing and there may be vegetation on the strip if not graded recently. No cones or windsock so be careful. Corunna Downs Homestead is also heritage listed and consists of graded strips and homestead complex. Start points are at the homestead and the RAAF base is to the west. YEEB Eneabba strip and townsite
Sand mining town in heart of wildflower area Located 278 km north from Perth via the Brand Highway, Eneabba is basically a sand mining town surrounded by some of the most extensive and spectacular wild flower displays anywhere in Western Australia. The town itself is, to be fair, a real non-event with dreary modern housing (with more than a hint of construction town design), a small shopping centre and a service station all of which look as though they have sprung up in the last 20-30 years. The wealth of the area is based on the rutile sands which lie to the south of the town as well as farming, particularly cattle grazing. With an estimated 80 per cent of the world's known rutile supplies the town can boast that it has the biggest deposits of rutile in both Australia and the world. The major mining company in the area is Iluka Resources Ltd. Eneabba is basically a service town for the mines but some of the miners, realising that Eneabba is hardly a paradise, have opted for commuting and live on the coast at Leeman and drive to work preferring the beach to the dry inland.

YLUW Leeuwin Estate, one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district, consistently produces wines that rank with the world's finest. In 1972, following an extensive search for the area most suitable to produce the best varietal wines in Australia, legendary American winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard. Originally a cattle farm, Leeuwin Estate evolved, under the direction of Denis and Tricia Horgan, with Robert Mondavi acting as consultant and mentor. A nursery was planted in 1974 and the initial vineyards were deep-ploughed, deep-ripped, emptied of stone, planned, pegged, measured, marked and eventually planted by hand over a five year period from 1975. Featuring state-of-the art facilities, the winery building was opened in 1978, celebrating with a trial vintage. Leeuwin enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979, and was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay in an international blind tasting. This package covers Denver, the capital of Colorado which is also nicknamed Mile-High City because its elevation is one mile (5.280 ft). The sixth RW (16R/34L) of Denver Int'l. Airport (KDEN) is the longest commercial RW in the US with a length of 16.000ft. This allows fully loaded B747's to take off in Denvers mile-high altitude during hot summer days, when density altitudes can approach 9.000(!) ft.
KDEN is a major hub for United Airlines and the headquarters for Frontier Airlines. The airports distinctive white tent-like fabric roof is designed to be reminiscent of the snow-covered peaks of the Rocky Mountains which you can see on approach or departure.
Other important airports covered by this region are Centennial Airport (KAPA), Buckley AFB (KBKF) and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC). Extends my Mt.Evans/Georgetown package to the east and provides another 3.500 sq km in 4.7m/pix quality.

British Airways liveries painted on Tenkuu Developers Studio (TDS) Boeing 787-8 and -9 Rolls Royce Trent 1000 model. The textures are saved in 32bit format for quality graphics.
