| KLM Douglas DC-6 |

File Description:
Having been an operator of the Douglas DC-2, DC-3, DC-4 and DC-5, it seemed only logical that KLM (celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2009) purchased the DC-6 for its long-haul routes. Seemed, because KLM already operated the Lockheed L-049 Constellation, the DC-6's competitor. Nevertheless, Connie and DC-6 marched on together quite well. Enclosed in this package are five repaints of DC-6's during several stages in their life with KLM. The 1957 livery of PH-DPP was an interim-livery (see the 'old fashioned' white lettering and the early-fifties style cowlings). The 1962 livery of PJ-DPI seems to have been an attempt to fit into the new house style of KLM without having to respray the fuselage, as the DC-6 reached the end of its KLM carreer anyway. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. Kristensen's Douglas DC-6 (dc6_v20.zip). Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaints by Maarten Brouwer.

In November 1966 the Dutch charter operator Transavia Holland started its activities with 2 Douglas DC-6 and 1 Douglas DC-6B aircraft. Despite stiff competition from KLM and Martinair Holland, Transavia was able to conquer a considerable part of the charter and inclusive tours market and expanded its fleet with a several more DC-6B's. In 1968 Transavia became involved in the relief airlift from Sao Tome to Biafra using its fleet of DC-6's. The next year the DC-6's were sold to Flughjalp who continued flying the Biafra missions till January 1970. Featured here are DC-6 PH-TRA (1966 livery) and DC-6 PH-TRB (1968 livery). Today Transavia is a major Dutch low cost and charter airline (owned by Air France-KLM) operating Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft. These are textures only. You will require Jens B. After the Republic of the Congo (Leopoldville; since 1965 Kinshasa) gained independence in 1960 from Belgium, the Belgian national airline Sabena continued to operate routes in the country. Plans for the formation of a Congolese airline were delayed due to the Congo Crisis. However, in January 1961 a protocol was signed with Sabena for the creation of a limited liability company to be named Air Congo. On 1961 the company was formed, and incorporated on 28 June with Sabena providing technical assistance and personnel. The initial fleet of Air Congo consisted of ex-Sabena Douglas DC-3s, DC-4s and DC-6s. The first international destinations served by the carrier were Entebbe, Luanda, Nairobi and Ndola. The last "short" DC-6 was disposed of in 1970. Original textures by Jens B. Kristensen. Repaint by Maarten Brouwer.

| FSX/P3D TAI DC-4 (C-54) 1962 |

This is a repaint of the DC-4 in TAI (Transports Aeriens Intercontinentaux) colors. The freeware DC-4 (C-54) by Jens B Kristensen is needed for this repaint. The DC-4 was the first long haul aircraft that TAI deployed. With the purchase of the DC-4s, long-haul passenger and cargo routes were launched to many points of the French Empire, including Dakar, Saigon, Tananarive, and Casablanca. They operated nine of their own DC-4s mainly from 1947 to 1955, with two lasting till 1963 when all DC-4s were replaced by the DC-6Bs. The last two that lasted till 1963 were F-BELG, and F-BDRG, the latter of which is represented in this repaint. Textures are 32bit DDS. This aircraft was tested on FSX-SE. It should work on FSX & P3D v1-3.
