P-51D 31st FG/308th FS HL-N 'Flying Dutchman'

File Description:
In December 1943, Robert Goebel was assigned as a Replacement Pilot to the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations. He shipped out to North Africa and arrived at Oran, Algeria. He was assigned to the Supermarine Spitfire equipped 31st Fighter Group of the 12th Air Force and was checked out in the Spitfire at Telergma. As he joined the 31st FG at Castel Volturno, Italy on April 1, 1944, the Group had started a transition to the North American P-51B Mustang and its main mission changed from Close Support of front-line troops to Fighter Escort for the heavy bombers of the 15th Air Force. Lt. Goebel was assigned to the 308th Fighter Squadron. Eventually, the 31st FG were equipped with the P-51D-model Mustangs. Captain Goebel flew 61 combat missions from the 31st FG's base at San Severo, Italy including one of the FRANTIC Russian Shuttle missions. He led the 308th FS into combat seven times and the entire 31st FG into battle twice. Captain Goebel, still only 21 years old, rotated home to the USA as a highly decorated fighter ace with 11 aerial victories.

P-51D 506th FG/458th FS 567 "Little One / Jeannie"

File Description:
P-51D 44-72612 was assigned to 1Lts Max E Ruble and Francis J Pulecki of the 458th FS/ 506th FG, based in Iwo Jima, 1945. Ruble shot down a J2M Raiden on 23 june 1945. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.

P-51D 357th FG/ 362nd FS G4-E "Missouri Armada"

File Description:
P-51D Mustang 44-14789 "Missouri Armada" flown by Capt. John "Johnny" B. England.John Brooke England was born in 1923 at Caruthersville, Missouri. His service number was O-739263 and he joined the 362nd FS of the 357th FG in April 1943 as a 1/Lt meaning that he was part of the original cadre that left the ZI in November 1943 for the UK. He was promoted to Captain and then to Major. He took command of the 362nd FS on 25 August 1944. He served two tours with the 357th FG for a total of 108 operational missions giving a total of 460 hours combat flying time. He was the second highest scorer in the 357th with a total of 17.5 victories. England finished his second tour and rotated home on 26 January 1945. He remained in the service after the war and was killed in an F-86 crash in November 1954 in France. Alexandria Air Force base in Louisiana was renamed England Air Force Base in his honor. The aircraft was later assigned to Lt. Oscar Ridley, who renamed it "Sad Sack". The a/c was lost on 18 april 1945, with Lt Ridley evading capture. File Description:
44-13717 was flown by Captain John D. Duncan of the 376th FS. His aircraft was named 'Golden Wave' after his Florida high school. Repaint for the Shockwave WWII Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on the paintkit by John Terrell.

P-47D-30 324th FG/ 316th FS #83 "Wee Three"

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A/Shockwave Wings of Power P-47D-30 Thunderbolt, representing 42-28590 "Wee Three", an aircraft that flew with the 316th FS/ 324th FG. The name came from its first pilot, who was married and had a small child, hence the "Wee Three". After he finished his tour, the aircraft was re-assigned to Lt John Jasper Yowell jr. On 19 march 1945, while on his 65th mission, to Pforzheim, the squadron was ambushed by a flight of Me-109's. His wingman, John Haun, shot down one Me-109, but Lt Yowell was hit by enemy fire and forced to bail out. Unfortunately, his parachute didn't open. He was found and buried in his parachute by French labourers. After the war, he was reinterred at Arlington National Cemetery. Repaint for FS9 by Jan Kees Blom, based on a repaint kit by John Terrell. I have included a thumbnail for use in FSX. Although the model is for FS9 only, it works in FSX too.

P-51D 357th FG/ 362nd FS G4-X "Toolin'Fools Revenge"

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A/Shockwave World War II Fighters P-51D Mustang, representing 44-63199 "Toolin'Fools Revenge", the aircraft flown by Lt Otto "Dittie" Jenkins. He scored 8.5 kills, including 4 on 24 december 1944. He died on the last flight of his tour, crashing when he buzzed the airfield on 24 March 1945. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the repaint kit by John Terrell. It should work in both FSX and FS9.

P-47D 57th FG/ 65th FS #40 "Hun Hunter XIV"

File Description:
This folder contains a repaint for the A2A Wings of Power III P-47D Thunderbolt, representing P-47D-23-RA 42-27910 #40 "Hun Hunter XIV", as flown by Lt.Col Gilbert O. Wynand Jr, the CO of the 65th FS/ 57th FG, based in Alto, Corsica. He was more or less responsible for converting the P-47 from a high-altitude fighter to a very efficient ground attack aircraft, which was used to great effect during operation Strangle, where the German supply lines in Italy were completly cut off by destroying all railways, bridges and roads leading to the front in middle Italy.
