| Island in the Sky Douglas C-47 Skytrain USAF 'Corsair' |

File Description:
Based on original textures by Jan Visser, this texture set is a representation of the fictional USAF C-47 flown by John Wayne as Dooley in the 1953 classic film, "Island in the Sky". It is intended to complement an article written by Harold "Farmboyzim" Zimmer for the December 2007 issue of "Computer Pilot" magazine. Harold's review of "Island in the Sky" can be found at http://farmboyzimsflightsims.com/IslandintheSky_film_review.html. The texture set requires the base R4D-6/DC-3A package available from Mid Atlantic Air Museum Simulations (MAAM-SIM) at www.maam.org, together with two subsequent free C-47 enhancements to that product. | Chance Vought F4-U Corsair VF-17 #29 Lt Kepford |

This folder contains a repaint for the A2A/Aircraft Factory F4-U Corsair, in the paintscheme of White 29, the Aircraft ot Lt Ira Kepford of VF-17 "Jolly Rogers". With 16 confirmed kills at the end of February 1944, Kepford was still the Navy's top ace, a distinction he retained until Alexander Vraciu went wild on June 19. Kepford returned to the States in March of 1944, and was assigned to Fleet Air Command at Alameda, California. In June, he was transferred to VF-84. In December, he was attached to the Staff of Commander Fleet Air, West Coast, where he served the remainder of WWII. In his five months of combat duty, Ira Kepford earned two Navy Crosses, the Gold Star, the Silver Star, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Air Medal, Unit Commendation to VF-17, and the American Defense Service Medal. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on the A2A paintkit.

This repaint is intended for the RAZBAM A-7 Corsair II vol.1 for FSX.
The aircraft depicted served with the US Navy VA-86 "Sidewinders" during 1981.This is their high vis scheme but strangely enough this aircraft did not feature the commonplace orange stripes on top of the wings. I equipped the pilot with a custom coloured helmet and the pilot/plane-captain's names are fictious.
Please take note that all the main textures are 2048x2048 pix and they feature custom panel lines/rivets and bump mapping.
